August 2013 Purchases

The gaming season is about to heat up. It hasd been a pretty decent month for gaming. There wasn't much I am interested on the 360. I used to get all my third party titles on the 360 but I decided to change that since my PS3 is getting more attention by its many exclusive titles that are coming out over the last year.

purchases

Now I haven't played Killer is Dead yet but I am not too happy that its getting mediocre to down right bad scores. It's probably the biggest letdown for me in a long time. I decided to hold on to the game because its different. I don't mind offensive sexual content. Suda 51 has a interesting and impressive style in how he presents his games. If his name wasn't attached than I would have skipped it. I haven't yet played it though. Tales of Xillia is very impressive. I like how you can chain with a character to watch your back and do mix your specials together for an attack. Its a great game so far. I am only on the second chapter. I been doing a lot of grinding. I am enjoying it. Namco Bandai has been incredible with JRPGs this generation. They been leaving Square Enix in the dust!

I haven't played Splinter Cell: Blacklist yet. I don't know when I will get around to it. I look forward to jumping into some Mercs vs Spies. Dragon's Crown has been a lot of fun. It has been incredible on the Vita. I really enjoy playing online and meeting others. I have been playing exclusively as the elf. I defeated the Ancient Dragon and now playing on hard and that is no joke. This has been my favorite game of August that I played.

The Walking Dead: The Video Game is only 25 dollars. I might have played it already but I don't mind playing this game on my Vita. It was an incredible game. I haven't yet played it though.

I also bought Duck Tales: Remastered, Skull Girls, and Splunky on the Vita. I know Skull Girls is an old game but it was freaking less than 4 bucks and wanted it long ago. I haven't played Duck Tales: Remastered yet. I played literally hours of Splunky on my Vita. That game is so challenging and addicting!

Cutting the line somewhere. There are games I skipped that still wanted. I wouldn't mind getting Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F on the PS3. I loved the Vita game but it was all in Japanese. It is also in 3D which I could see what its like in that form. I would like to have Saint's Row 4 but I would get Project Diva F before that. Pay Day 2 seemed like it would be alright. What about you? What did you buy in August or wouldn't mind still owning?

New Interface Additions (to PS4 and XB1)

The next generation of systems is adding some nice features in how you operate it and move around within its menu. I am happy the PS4 is making a change with a new menu called Playstation Dynamic Menu and Microsofts is supposedly built with advertising in mind. Not something I would boast about. I do like what Sony and Microsoft are doing with their new interfaces which I find important how complex gaming systems have become. As for what I like, its new additions like recording footage to show, the ability for others to watch as you play and able to help others or be helped by giving your game to someone else through that one hard segment.

PS4 Interface

I like that I will be able to suspend my game which is similar to what you can do with the Vita and speaking about the Vita I find that it offers a lot of what consoles are doing. Xbox One uses a feature called snap mode that is actually really similar to Vitas menu system but takes it a bit farther by allowing all those windows to stay functional without having to close what you are doing within certain windows. It is something that the PS4 can seem to do at least to some extent but Sony hasnt elaborated much on its interface.

XB1 Interface

5 THINGS I WANT ON PSN AND XBL

With all the new additions, there is still many more that can be added. I had enjoyed for example the leaderboards on XBL. It would be awesome to see that continue on Xbox One and added on the PSN but also expanded? With that I mean a leaderboard that keeps tap of who is overall leading across the board in games. That would add another layer on top of the scoreboard to keep tabs on.

Personally, I am big on putting myself out there. I love being a gamer and love to share what I have and give my opinion. It would be cool if they have expanded bios but not just that but integrate a blog page for people to update via PC that can be tapped into on our consoles.

When it comes to sharing, its great to boast about what we done in what games via achievements and trophies but I like to be able to say I beat such and such game. It would be nice if there was something that acknowledged that the game has been beaten. In some games you can get can 20% of the achievements and trophies and beat the game. It doesnt seem like it though considering the small count that you racked up.

We are getting our friends list count up to 1000 on both systems. That is a lot so it would be nice if we could categorize our friends. For example but all our friends we have on Pixlbit in one group, family in another group, or school friends in one group and so on that way its easier to keep tabs on them. If you have a clan, well there is another. I dont know about you but I wont remember 1000 people and I would be closer with them if I can recall where they came from.

Another aspect is Calendar Map so you can organize what you plan on doing. It can be used to input your work time or simply your gaming hours, what you will be playing and when. This will make it easier to plan times to game with friends. They see when you want to play and you can input you want to play such and such game on what day. It will make it nice to organize events and make it easier for Microsoft, Sony, or third parties to sponsor events of their own.

Those are my top requests I would like to be added now or in an update down the road. There is a lot more they could do beyond what they have already done. Sony now has the obvious inclusion of cross game chat now, Microsoft Challenges to achievements, and I might be in the minority but I like the ability to thumbs up you people. I like staying connected to gamers like this because I dont have them around be here so having away online to have the ability to stay a little bit closer to guys and gals is a nice touch.

Is there anything you would like to see added to XB1 and PS4s interface? There is a lot to learn about such as the Avatars with XBL and PSNs Home. There are questions to be still answered, do you also have some?

Tales of Xillia 2? What next?

Wow. Not only are we getting Tales of Xillia but they just announced that the sequel will be coming Stateside as well. That is great! When are down on our luck on games coming here, we seem to get luck out in the end.

project rainfall

There are three major games people wanted from Nintendo (and I wanted) that finally made it over here, that happening to be Xenoblade Chronicles, considered one of the best (if not the best) JRPG that came out this generation, the others being The Last Story and Pandoras Tower.

lucky to come stateside

I didnt expect Project X Zone would come over here. It is a welcome surprise. The installed base of the 3DS though I believe allows it to take bigger risks. How cant anyone get excited with such a huge crossover? Anyway, the other being Fire Emblem Awakening and considering its history its a bit of a surprise coming here. Its good that it has since its considered one of the best 3DS titles and likely will be one of the best games on the 3DS. Its a title that I am ashamed I havent yet picked up but will. The last one here listed is Hatsune Miku Project Diva F. I have played the Vita version extensively and love its rhythm premise. Its a pretty deep game that extends beyond the key rhythm gameplay. I thought this one was surely not going to come.

Yakuza 5, when?

What about games we havent got yet. I pretty much gave up on Final Fantasy: Type-0 coming here. Its been so long now. The title I do want pretty badly is Yakuza 5. Its a way more ambitious title than any of the prior titles. Besides being centered mainly in one city, its expanded which is nice. I am also excited by the new characters and love to see how the story unfolds. I had enjoyed the series so far.  The story in the series had always been strong and mixed well with the fun combat system. Its sad we didnt get it yet. If Hatsune Miku Project Diva F is coming, than why would Sega hold back on this title? It is a shame but considering the long wait it took the games to come Stateside, I will hold on hope.

Is there a title out there you wish to come Stateside?

New IPs I am Excited About (What about you?)

The Last of Us was an incredible fun and unique experience that had a lasting story. I love creative and unique experiences. There is a lot more new IPs coming on current and next gen titles. Here are ten titles I am excited to play this year.

New IPs

I will get right into 3 of my most anticipated. These are 3 ambitious titles and they all needed to be connected online to play and or to get the full experience of what they have to offer. The Division was impressive with its little touches like destruction going on and pushing the door of a car as you scooted by it. Destiny is exciting because its Bungie and love the lore behind the title. Having a lot of the original creators behind Call of Duty 4 is a big deal for Titanfall and the game looks and sounds impressive. I recommend the read in the latest Game Informer about the game and the developer's rise. It's a good read.

New IPs

Killer is Dead, a Grasshopper Manufacture game by the mind of Suda 51. That is enough for me. I like the visual look. The thing is I love the crazy and weird titles from Suda 51. His games have that crazy Japanese vibe. The next title as picture is The Evil Within. Shinji Mikami is involved with it and with his track record; that could mean for a great gaming experience. The next title is The Wolf Among Us. I never been a fan of point and click games but The Walking Dead: The Video Game was pretty unique its presentation and it was an incredible one and up there with The Last of Us as some of the best if not the best stories every told in a game. I look forward to the story and making some critical discussions.

What would the list be without Beyond: Two Souls? Heavy Rain was a unique experience. I look forward to seeing where the game takes us. I like how they are making the QTE more organic with the controls. The next title is The Order: 1886. Ready at Dawn is talented. I am sure this game will end up being huge. I love the aesthetic and look forward and excited its not a FPS. The Quantum Break sounds interesting. I love how you make decisions and it effects what happens in the show. Remedy is a great developer so it will be interesting to see what happens. Lastly but not least is Watch Dogs. It was a major deal at last E3 and for good reason. Not just another Sandbox game but one that allows you to hack into everything.

HONORABLE MENTIONS: Transistor, Dragons Crown, Tearaway, and LocoCycle

Games I want on Next Gen (what about you?)

The next generation is exciting for new franchises but is also great to see the potential of what old franchises can do and how great they will look like by exploiting the new hardware. My list is a bit personal. I am sure to be more mainstream, Syphon Filter and Dark Souls by some might be replaced by Grand Theft Auto, Portal, or perhaps other peoples' own personal choices. We know we are getting a new Mirror's Edge now, Dragon Age is confirmed, and we know Mass Effect will be starting a new trilogy on next gen systems. My list is what hasn't been announced in any form yet.

future next gen games?

Sony has a lot of great franchises that they could go back to that skipped the PS3. I consider Syphon Filter a great choose. It was a incredible series on the PSP. With the success and greatness of Metal Gear Solid and Splinter Cell, it would be nice to see what the new game can bring. Naughty Dog has pushed the PS3 to further limits than anyone. There cinematic storytelling is amazing. I loved The Last of Us. It was an incredible game. It would be nice to see Uncharted which always brings some breath taking scenes and block buster like moments. While I mentioned mainly Sony, I really want to see Star Fox and Alan Wake make the job. Star Fox has a lot of potential with a controller with a screen.

future next gen games?

Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Half Life 2 was my first entry into these two incredible series and they have been amazing in various ways. I am excited to see the jump they make in the next generation. The Far Cry series has been incredible looking and loved traversing its vast large landscapes. It will be interesting to see if Far Cry does a whole new environment the next time around.

future next gen games?

Dark Souls 2 isn't even out yet. Its the fanboy in me already hoping for a third entry in one of my favorite franchises this generation. I would like to see more Red Dead Redemption. It had been my favorite sandbox game of the current generation. Its also my favorite western title. Bioshock impressed me with its art style, amazing enviroments, and plot twists. I would love to see the series continue. The last but not least is Fallout. I put a ridiculous amount of hours into this game. I would love to see the next game take advantage of the system specs and provide more life like figures. I think we can do without the stiff animations and people sticking so still while your asking questions. That is my ten. What is yours?

HONORABLE MENTIONS: Star Fox, Portal, Alan Wake, Dead Space, No More Heroes
