Thankfully, modern technology has made it easy to check for duplicates before purchasing and I always check my backloggery page if I'm not sure.  Though about a year ago, I was almost positive I hadn't picked up a copy of Final Fantasy Tactics for the PSP yet and my phone was out in the car.  I was about to pay the cashier, but the nagging doubt wouldn't go away and I ended up running out to my car and finding out I did have a copy already.  Duplicate averted!

I also remember a time many years ago before I had one of the newfangeled smartphones and I came across one of the Demi Kids games and I couldn't remember if I already had the Light or Dark version.  I frantically tried to get a hold of a friend who could get online and check my collection for me, eventually succeeding.  Sadly, it was the one I already had and the search would have to continue.

I don't think I've even plugged my Genesis in for testing.  Everything else has been used at least once.

I've got most of the Touhou schmups fan-patched in English and running with little trouble.  I don't run a huge amount of Japanese programs, but I do leave my computer's non-Unicode language set to Japanese.  Every now and then I'll get some software that wants to installs itself in Japanese until I figure out where the language settings are.

Unfortunately, I think age and popularity are working against you here.  Most of these games don't even have entries on the game database sites (at least not the PC version) and even those that do have no actual content.  I don't think you'll find any English patches for any of them.  I sure didn't see any.

The games all seem to be Win95 CD-ROMs.  They should run fine in an XP enviroment, though I've had limited success with older software since moving to 64-bit Windows 7.

I've managed to scribe all but one of them for easy searching, but there isn't much to find, even on Japanese sites.

竜機伝承 is Ryuuki Denshou: Dragoon (1996).  There was a PC-98 version that led to an enhanced windows version, a PS1 remake and a three-episode OAV that ADV brought over as Dragoon.  The notes on this video sum it up pretty well.

天使之約 translates as the English says, Date With an Angel (1998).  The only thing I managed to find was a forum post with a fix and some wallpapers that at least matched the girl on the box.  I would romanize the kanji as Tenshi no Yaku, though I suspect the game may be Chinese (Taiwan) which would render that useless.

守護者之劍 is also matches the English.  Guardian's Sword.  There was both a Japanese and Chinese release and I'm fairly certain yours is the Chinese one.  It was a Chinese-made RPG with an active-time battle system similar to Final Fantasy.

卒業 Crossworld is Sotsugyou, or Graduation (1996).  This is a long running simulation series which has you guiding students towards their graduation.  The Japanese wikipedia page places Crossworld in the related works section and not in the main series.  There was also something about about play-by-mail, though I couldn't make any sense of it.

The fifth game is currently beyond me.  The script is just terrible and the kanji is too blocky for me to make out the individual strokes.  If you can find that text written somewhere else I might be able to do something with it, but as it stands all I can say is it starts with Dai.

The final game is, as you might have guessed, is After Devil Force (1998).  The subtitle 狂王の後継者, is Kyouou no Koukeisha or The Pope's Successor.  It is a strategy RPG and one focused on tactics.  I was able to find a video here, though it doesn't show any gameplay.

It's not much, but I hope this helps.

High guys/girls I need your help. I cant sleep, eat, drink have fun anymore cause im obsessed by retrieving the name of a game that i used to play i think back in the 90'ties or maybe early 2000 on PS1. It was a very cartoony rpg in the style of chrono-cross/legend of mana. The only thing i remember is that it had anything to do with a locomotive that brought you from stage to stage. If i remember correctly it was turn based japanse bit childish style. I know i this post lacks information but maybe someone knows what game i have in mind. Thanks in advance!!!lagunalair

The game that come immediately to mind is 2003's Dark Cloud 2, a cel-shaded action-RPG that had a train (I can't remember if that train went beyond the first stage). This was a PS2 game, so it may not be the one you seek.

It used to be easily accessible, but I think the links vanished during the last site redesign. Thankfully, I still have my old "All RPGs by console" links bookmarked. Try this.

What is Impulse?someNONSENSE

 Digital distribution of some kind.

Not surprising though.  Watching Borders head to liquidation, the suits at Gamestop will be making a lot of moves to position themselves as physical media (sadly) dies.

[QUOTE="KGKaiju"]

You ever notice how only the outer layer of soap seems to clean properly....and as you get closer and closer to the center of the bar, it takes more and more to lather up?

Also, what's up with deodorant?  About 1/8 of the bar is already gone before you even purchase it!  I remember when the deodorant didn't have to be rolled up before you used it the first time......

someNONSENSE

Whoa. You're right.. This has been happening slowly and right before our eyes without much notice.. I am going to be on the lookout for this next time I use bar soap get a new deodorant.. :P

I work grocery retail, so I've seen this happening for years. Products have been getting smaller and smaller. A few ounces here and there. Most people don't even notice. It's a price increase without (usually) actually having to raise the price.

It's been getting pretty bad lately, though.  Quaker just dropped their granola bars from a 10 count to an 8 just as price jumped from $2.18 to $2.45.  Then in the next aisle over I saw a correction paper hanging highlighting that the ad was supposed to refer to a 44.1lb bag of dog food instead of the printed 50lb. Way to point out that the bag is bit lighter than it used to be.  The sad thing is we still have a few 50 lb bags on the bottom of a some three-deep stack and no one seems to want to pull them out.
