Goldstein, eh? Further perpetuating the stereotype that all Jews are greedy. Let the Gold Man Sacking of our democracy enter its final phase! Cersei Lannister 2016.

Okay, at least most of the movie-related news stories on here have at least some vestiges of a connection to geek culture... this, not so much.

I long for the feeling I got as a child playing The Legend of Zelda shortly after it was released. No other game has even come remotely close, outside of A Link to the Past, and I honestly doubt I'll ever feel that sense of wonder from a video game again. The best I can hope for is to have children some day and experience it vicariously through them. I have a sneaking suspicion that is one of the primary subconscious motivations for having kids.

An honest to god editorial on Gamespot? What is this? Don't you know you're hurting ad revenue by spending time on something like this when you could have published at least ten clickbait articles in the same amount of time?! Seriously, though, keep the dream alive! Good job, Mike.

Almost this exact article is like literally three spots down from this one. I know how you make your revenue, Gamespot, but this is some shameful shit... And I'm contributing to it. :*(

Edit: I see that this has been (conveniently) rectified, but my point still stands. This site has been slowly circling the drain ever since the dismissal of Gerstmann to the point where it's barely even recognizable to me anymore. Why bother coming up with quality editorials (aside from what people like Danny and Jess contribute) when you can just fill half of what's being pawned off as gaming "journalism" with links circling back to more helpful articles to get you paid. Less in more! I suppose that's just the way of the world.

@hystavito: Like I said, I've spent a long time being depressed and am generally quite cynical. There was a period of time where I found myself actively looking for depressing dramas because it informs the way that I feel. It's kind of like a symbiotic relationship. I seek out depressing films and music because of the way that I feel and that just further serves to reinforce and affirm the way that I feel. When you feel like shit, watching some feel good, saccharine Disney movie is just going to make you feel bitter, if that makes sense. It is a coping mechanism, in a way.

As someone who's suffered from (not really a fan of that term, but there it is) major depressive disorder for over half of their life, as well as being bipolar 2, I find it somewhat odd and maybe a little telling that Jess suggests someone who's had shitty day further indulge themselves into feeling worse. I know that's how some people deal with their emotions, but I'm not sure it's the best advice in general, even if it is somewhat natural. I find myself tending towards depressing films and music as a reflection of my mental illness and blighted, cynical worldview. I'm somewhat surprised that "This War of Mine" didn't make this list. I'm very much looking forward to picking that up when it comes out on PS4 at the end of the week.

The extent to which our species will go to deceive itself and rationalize everything, spinning our meaningless existence of shit into gold, is truly incredible and more than a little sad.
