Late Night Bar Fights

Okay, so a little time has passed now (and no, I don't mean since the last time I blogged.... even though that's true) and I'm thinking about the amount of violence I've been seeing around the way ever since they've put up this 'brilliant' little bar. First, about thirty minutes ago (1:20 AM) I start to hear all this ruckus outside and more four-letter words than you could count with an abacus. Great. I peek out the window, being the Curious George of the situation, and lo and behold we have Evander Holyfield versus Iron Mike part three! That plus a group of at least seven or so spectators that do a semi-good job of breaking it up (thanks). So..... I went downstairs to grab a few peanutbutter sandwiches and think a little more.

In all that arduous thinking I remembered that this also happened to be the bar where the unfortunate death of an young man happened by gunshot just a few months prior. And while I don't know if the bar was directly involved, it sure seems likely, doesn't it? That's been the worst case of "bar rage" so far, but these brawls are starting to become numerous. Want to know what's more? It's not the fact that I live right across from this bar, but it's the fact this bar happens to be placed RIGHT NEXT to a children's playground (wherein a preschool is located). Great idea! Okay, but that's not the only thing nearby: there's also a sports field for youngins and an elementary school within a block's distance. Could the owner of this bar take a course in Zoning 101 or something?

By the way, what ever happened to the infamous line where the bartender would say "I think you've had enough" instead of just letting the drunk get drunker? Apparently... it's no longer in use.

Well That Was a Hoot!

I didn't get to watch (I'm very disappointed in you, DirecTV); I missed out on some serious Flyers hockey action tonight. As exciting as "play by play" on foxsports.com is, I decided to retire to an absolutely extraordinary reading of Michael Chrichton's "Jurassic Park". Yeah, we lost, nothing a faithful Philadelphian couldn't predict however. I dare not dream that we'll be winning the Stanley Cup this year, but we'll be squashing these Buffa-loons; we cannot quietly go away after signing Peter Forsberg . . .. plus, Hitchcock isn't the kind of guy to pack his bags after the first round, ask anybody.

That aside, I'm actually not rooting for the Flyers (completely) this post-season. I'm cheering for the Red Wings. I should say, more particularly, Steve Yzerman. It would be a happy ending - (why wouldn't he retire?) - for him to go out hoisting one last Stanley Cup above his head. Go Stevie!!!

How 'Bout Them Flyers....

This sucks, the Flyers just had to let go of John LeClair and Tony Amonte today. Amonte I can live without, but LeClair was great. They've really fallen off with me since basically the only guy left on the whole team that I like is Eric Desjardins, and maybe you can count in Robert Esche. It ain't the first time they pissed me off (although it's not really their fault this time), the whole thing about Lindros going to the Rangers was ridiculous. Well as long as they go somewhere when the season starts, do something for once guys.

The Gathering of Idiots

Wow, now I know what some of you were complaining about earlier on. I had a good idea of what I was in for when I came here, but now that I'm posting on the forums more often, I've never seen more jackasses in my entire life (well . . . maybe not LOL). Not that it gets under my skin any, why should a fool's comments matter to me? It still is pretty amazing though. That is to say, they just had to be given the true recognition they deserve; bravo idiots, bravo.

Let's 'Dig' into This a Bit More.....

Anyone get the reference in the title? Did you? Oh, forget it. In spite of that, it seems we're having an all most 'inner-core peace movement' going on around here. Well not really, but I thought I'd chime in. First off, and I'm basically reiterating here, it's the god awful widely accessible Internet in all it's glory (or not). We aren't on a cult Dungeons & Dragons geek-get-together meet up forum, we're on hugely marketed (if not, it seems fitting) site that's a common interest to basically every guy and his mother, rich or poor. Okay, so now we know where we are and who's the audience (everybody, yes?). Of that audience there's a ton of intelligent, friendly, and wise people. Also included are the pinheads, 'nuff said. It just so happens that many of those intelligent friendly guy's have jobs, careers, and whatnot. Less time for them on the Internet and more time at work, bummer. Then you have the ever zany featherbrains, a lot these guys have nothing to do and are at home for the better part if the day. They're a bit bored, they decide to use the Internet, what can you do? I know that's a totally generalized point of view, a bit biased, and probably idiotic. But yet, you still know what I'm talking about (don't you dare pull a Gary Coleman). Unfortunately it's hard to get a point through to a knucklehead over the Internet (especially when they don't even know you exist). What are you going to do, spank them? No, but hey, you can suspend their account!! What good'll that do? Really that empowering? I think not. What I'm getting to here is two points, there's nothing like knocking the stuffing out of a fool who came for coffee but stayed for dinner (did that make sense?) and no matter what there will always be more nudnicks on a place like this than you can count bones in your body. So while I'm enjoying this moment of 'insurrection', it's just too damn bad that no one will ever listen and settle their self down. Well now I probably look as immature and obnoxious as those other guys! Way to go Luzzu. But as my good friend RVD would say "Whatever Dude".
