I managed to figure out how to fix my Sega Dreamcast! For about a year it had a problem where it would randomly restart. I thought I was going to have to buy another Dreamcast until I found a video on youtube of a guy that was having the same problem.
To fix the random restart problem, first make sure you have these items:
Phillips-head screwdriver.
Wet wipes.
Napkins or soft toilet paper.
Anti-static pads to prevent static electricity or at least a wrist band to keep yourself grounded.
What to do:
First, flip the system upside down and remove the modem/broadband adapter so that you can get to the hidden screw.
Remove the 3 other screws.
Gently flip the system back over and lift the top half of the casing off.
From there, remove the 2 screws from the power source and unplug the white wires.
Gently lift it out of it's placement.
Use the wet wipes to clean the prongs then use the napkin to dry the prongs off. Make sure they are completely dry.
Gently put the power source back in and plug the white wires back into the power source.
Screw the power source back down then plug the system in and turn it on to see if it works.
If it's working, turn it back off, un-plug it, finish putting it back together, and prepare to enjoy your Dreamcast again!
Now with both my Dreamcast and my PC being fixed, the only thing left to do is figure out how to fix my Nintendo Wii. I know that the problem is with the lense not being about to move back and forth, but for some reason it won't spin any disc unless I manually move the lense all the way back. The problem is that after it moves forward, it can't move back on it's own and it stops spinning the disc.
I've got an idea on what to try to fix that, but my younger bro. took it apart to see if he could fix it, but he couldn't find anything that he thaught might be wrong and when he was putting it back together, a plastic piece fell out and neither of us knows where it goes.
