The days leading up to the debut of Sony's fifth-generation Playstation home console had me eager and giddy in anticipation. Having come off the huge success of the PS4 and it's amazing library of classics that I will remember and treasure forever, I just knew that the PS5 would be the big one. So, imagine my shock when it finally gets released only to find out to get one, I basically only needed to donate a kidney or two, and even then, I may not be able to find one in stock. Well, I somehow managed to overcome that hurdle, finally, and upon getting my mitts on my shiny huge white boat of a console, I was thrilled. And while the system was definitely worth the hassle I went through to get it and the new features all blew me away, the one thing that did not make much sense to me was the empty library of games to be played on it. I know the Corona virus has affected the entire world in almost every industry in some manner, but I was in awe that at the time, no upcoming games were coming soon that interested me besides the odd one or two and it looked to continue on in that way for the foreseeable future. Well, good friends, I can now rest easy and claim that THOSE DAYS ARE OVER!
With the recent releases of Crisis Core, Calisto Protocol, Midnight Suns, RE Village DLC "Shadows of Rose", Witcher 3 PS5 revamp, God of War Ragnarok & The Dark Pictures: The Devil in Me, it's finally filled my backlog up enough to even consider it a "backlog". The PS5's debut was poor, except for the rare decent PS5 game such as Deathloop or RE Village. I am very pleased to add that the future is looking even brighter. Just on the horizon is Ishin: Like A Dragon from Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios, Street Fighter 6 with it's bad ass looking gameplay, Tekken 8, Resident Evil 4 Remake, Final Fantasy XVI, Silent Hill 2 and so much more!! This is the prime time to own a PS5 and I can now say with certainty that once again, Sony remains the king of consoles!! I can only imagine how great of a year 2023 is going to be for PS5 owners with the massive amount of hits coming our way. The Covid-19 pandemic may have halted its initial boom, but even that cannot stop the mass appeal of gaming on the king of consoles, the PS5!!
