I remember watching a movie a while back that pissed me off. I think it was called Real Women Have Curves. Theres a bunch of women in this sweatshop looking place making wedding dresses and one of them takes of her shirt because of the heat. And her mom being oldschool gives this lecture about having self respect and covering herself up etc. To which the daughter replied oh this is me, im just me and if people dont like it they can **** off (ooo yeah big shocker when she said **** to her mom). This comment was so ****in laughable. First off, That comment was said way to ****in smoothly. She had that thing ready quick draw mgraw. Meaning she has probably thought about what other people think of her, and rather than try to mold herself into what they want (which I dont agree she should do), she comes up with her own little motto that she can use anytime the situation calls for it. Which I dont really understand how you can use that little saying for taking off your shirt in a sweatshop surrounded by other family and friends, its not like ur doing this in front of a group of strangers. So stop acting like your a rebel and a free spirit. Second, Its ok to care what people think and make improvements on yourself. Its called having self respect. If you reek of body odor, or dress like a homeless person, then take care of it. Because you say I dont care what people think of me, that doesnt mean its ok to not bathe, and eat out of a trashcan. its easy to misinterpret that into thinking your making self improvement for other people, but do it for yourself man. What kind of person doesnt care about their physical well being. And who exactly is supposed to "like you for who you are" when your displaying the crappiest possible version of yourself to prove a point to people who dont care. Finally, wtf is this chicks problem? So she took her shirt off. She could have said, hey its hot and im with friends who are hot in this place as well, and whos going to see us anyway, where in a ****in sweatshop. End of story. Perfectly logical and rational. But no, now we get this big dramatic speech of being proud of yourself. I know the title is real women have curves, and they probably want us to think this is a "fat thing," but please by all means, if your so proud, walk outside in front of a group of people in ur underwear and explain to them your half naked because your proud.
