Wow that was quick! Wonder how many people STILL won't try it for basically "free"? I already own the Cowabunga collection, but I've never played Sonic Colors so I'll give that one a go for sure.
Still one of the most visually impressive games ever made. Only thing that bothered me is no character reflections in windows, mirrors or puddles. If they re-mastered it today in 4K with raytracing it would be incredible! Also I personally felt the criticisms of the gameplay, story, game length etc were overblown. 7/10 for me.
It's tough to re-invent the wheel with every new console. And honestly it isn't always required. Of course the reaction to the Switch 2 is muted in comparison to the original Switch because it was the first of it's kind. Fast forward nearly 8 years later and the handheld / home console hybrid market has changed dramatically. That being said I think the Switch 2 is pretty much what Switch owners were expecting it to be.
I look at this like the Switch was the NES and the Switch 2 is the Super NES - an evolution of what came before, not a revolution. For the mass public, casual gamers, parents etc, it's crystal clear and straightforward that "Switch 2" is the new system just like "Super Nintendo" clearly indicated it was newer and better than the "Nintendo". And unlike the jump from the NES to the SNES, the Switch 2 is (mostly) backward compatible. If you watch old news reports on YouTube from 1991, parents were P!$$ed that the SNES couldn't play their existing library of NES games or use any of the peripherals etc. feeling like their investment was all for not. Will the Switch 2 hit the heights of the original Switch though? I don't think it will, but it'll still be extremely successful.
It's 2024, of course the lead character is a female. Let's see. Returnal, Stellar Blade, Hellblade, TLoU Part 2, Control, Horizon, the upcoming Ghost of Yotei and the just-announced new Naughty Dog game and now this game...
However there have always been female leads in games such as in Metroid, Tomb Raider, Bayonetta, Perfect Dark and more.
So I don't know, in a way it does feel like there's a bit of an agenda but is it as egregious as some are making it out to be?
I try not to get TOO excited for the Game Awards. However, unfortunately it's kind of the closest thing we have these days to an e3. So if you can endure the copious amounts of mobile game ads, DLC & microtransaction announcements and fluff award categories that most gamers could care less about, hopefully there will still be some cool stuff announced / revealed in the 3+ hour show.
Anyone else have this weird thing happening where periodically, for whatever reason Gina gets down on all fours and kind of pants like she's exhausted or parched or like she's looking for her contact lens on the floor? The one time we were in a room after an encounter with Vos and the doors are the kind that say "opens from the other side" or "opens elsewhere". So I'm going all over the room to try to find a hatch or somewhere I can whip or climb up and I have no idea what to do. Finally I looked at the doorknob of a door at the end of a joining room and pressed 'X' to try to open it and she springs up all of a sudden like "Here let me pick the lock for you". Lol, the game has some jank at times for sure, but overall I'm really enjoying it so far.
@hydralicmonkey: You have ALWAYS had to be 17 to buy ANY game with an M rating ever since the invention of the ESRB ratings system. When has that ever stopped kids from playing those games? Even IF your parents don't allow you to play M-rated games, chances are one of your buddy's parents don't care. So you go to his house to play it. The point is, no one should be advertising, advocating or celebrating drug use in media that kids (who are extremely easily influenced) will be exposed to.
Go back to the Super NES, Genesis, N64, PS1 etc. Were there games that had drugs in them? Not that I can remember.
It's just flat out wrong. Like A LOT of things in the modern gaming industry.
