The new format is garbage
by EvilTaru on Comments
UCB admins and mods are powerless, it's much harder to find information because the frontpage is not even sorted properly by categories. At least the blog phase of Gamespot is now over.
For some reason, my family mentioned how smarter with people I've become (the real-life taru), I guess it's just a by-product of the aging process.
The death of gaming media
by EvilTaru on Comments
I joined ZDNet in 1998.
Back then, E3 was exciting, people talk about things for weeks and weeks after the big event, even though July and August are traditionally the dry month, with few games coming out.
Fast forward to today, a few weeks after E3, my second console launch, with next to no news about next generation systems, not even current generation systems. The boards have never been as dead as before, even the ones that are supposed to be the busy ones. And Gamespot boards aren't the only ones suffering, although they are doing worse than places like IGN.
Gamespot as a site is doing very little to help the problem, instead of putting up more news and previews, we see more video segments that regurgitate things that can all be read in 2 minutes, the amount of new information each day is surprisingly scarce, if the trend continues, Gamespot might very well find itself irrelevant.
Stupid sheep in the GGD

Wow, the big 3-0, I don't know, I just feel the same. Things are going ok in life, no complaints. Just working hard, enjoying friends and family and playing games... and wasting time posting on these boards, I need to go back to get some sort of second degree, I'm leaning towards an accounting degree now. I'm glad I got out of retail, I didn't hate it but it was hard work to be only on commission, I just lie down everyday and fall asleep from the exhaustion, too bad I was doing so well my last few months. Now, I'm healthier and there's less stress.
I've been posting here for years and nothing has changed... well, I'm more mellowed now. I never thought I would still be posting here after all this time. ^__^
Heard a UCB got wiped by the owner, not surprised. What I was surprised by was how people acted like they didn't see this coming from a mile away. Come on, people, be honest. You KNEW this was going to happen, you KNEW your board owner would flip out one day and wipe everything out, and please, stop being so damn pretentious and trying to be nice, just say how you really feel. Anyway, good luck picking up the pieces.
Damn, I really want a PSP.
I've been PDA'ed!!! ~_~

I had pondered for a long time on whether I should get a PDA or not, having carried a notepad around with me for work which I found rather inconvenient. Finally on friday I decided to get the IPAQ RX 3115, it's pretty good, no built-in camera although some jobs do not allow people to bring in cameras. I've been playing game trailers and MP3s on it the last couple of days and it's pretty neat.
I haven't played FFXI of late, mainly because of the new games and because I just can't find time due to my old job making me too dead tired to make any serious progress, so with the job change I hope to get back into it. Speaking of job change, I will miss my old retail job, I had one customer who had bought a laptop and a PDA from me earlier coming back to ask me about getting a plasma TV, I told him I'm going on vacation (which is technically true since I'm going on vacation before officially terminating my services) and introduced him to one of my friends so he'll be well taken care of. Some days are so easy and some days are so frustrating, I've tried to stay on an even keel but I have to admit that I'm simply exhausted not having taken a decent vacation this past year.
Various sites have posted previews of God of War, while I've heard many great things about it, I'm not 100% sold on the hype yet. I want to be impressed, but so far the trailer is too low-res for me to really grasp the graphical details. They should really release a longer trailer and a demo to get people pumped up, it would be a shame if this game turns out to be amazing just to be overlooked because of the lack of marketing.
So long... retail... T_T

Just finished an interview with the bank my mom works at (I applied for the job myself though but she did help me prepare for the interview, god bless her, I love my mom ^__^), and I have been hired on the spot. It's a big load off my back, and the new job will give me more free time to further my education.
I'm going to miss the people I'm currently working with, but I guess all good things come to an end, quite frankly, the last year has me quite worn out, sometimes I'm even too tired from work to post in the boards, 50 hours a week of constantly walking and talking, hoping you can convince someone to buy a laptop or a computer package from you when the traffic of the store has been pretty bad hasn't been easy for me, I guess I'm just a weakass little tarutaru. I think the job benefited me alot because I have felt more mature having worked in a fast-paced environment. The store I work at will need to find another top 20 product expert, but I think they can manage.
Oh and congrats to Grizzly for getting his job.
Wow... just... wow... :|

^^ I'm officially hated by a moderator to the size of Jupiter, and all I did was being reasonable.

As much as the fact is that if my hate for you took physical form, it would be the size of Jupiter, you've given me an excellent idea for a sig.
Let's just say you hate me and I hate you. That works well, since I feel that your brain doesn't work and I am sure you think the same about me.
Good job picking the mods, Bethany, I salute you. "Hating EvilTaru to the size of Jupiter" must be one of the prerequisite...
It went alright. ^__^

The phone interview went well, I was told I would be recommended for a personal interview, although it was not guaranteed that I would get a personal interview since it is only a recommendation. Anyway, one out of the way, one more to go tomorrow. We'll see how that one turns out. Both are large banks in Canada, and it would be more stable work than my current product expert job at Futureshop. ^__^
Monday was a holiday but I spent half a day preparing for my interview, I have today and tomorrow off so I can take some time to catch up on games. ^__^
