An End of an Era..A Fond Farewell...and Where You Can Find me Now.

So...this is going be a blast from the past.

Let me introduce myself properly for once...My REAL name?...it's Rob. Eric was a nickname given to me by the dad years ago when his best friend of the same name passed away. I first created my Gamespot account back in May 2009. Inspired by the likes of AVGN, as well as many 'angry reviewers', and even the likes of Alex Navvaro, a former employee of Gamespot, I decided to create an account and write reviews.............................................at the age of 12.

And...Yeeeah....Looking back at some of my old reviews and what i said regarding certain things about 'this' and 'that' in certain games made me want to cringe. I mean, i thought 'Shadow the Hedgehog' was good? 'Fable' a 10 out of 10? What was I thinking? I was literally a kid talking about my opinion on the internet, but i kept writing things...I didn't want to stop, I was fascinated in the idea of writing about something that i thought about. And I kept it going for 4 years.

Around 2013, things started to change. Not just with Gamespot, but with me. I started to 'grow up'.....basically. I ended up getting a job, and began fulfilling other responsibilities. Certain personal issues happened along the way for me, and at a certain point I sort of....stopped. Oh I get on once in a while. Written a blog in 2014, (Game that I'm STILL Waiting For) heh...looking back at it now, I'm glad that some of those games that were on the List finally saw the light of day. (The Last Guardian, Final Fantasy XV, Battlefront etc.) And I wrote 3 reviews this year, (Super Mario Maker, Halo 5: Guardians, NiGHTS Into Dreams...)

As i mentioned before, I looked back at those at reviews from Years ago, And a good amount of them are...for the most part....awful. But when it came to certain ones, When i was looking at them, I said to myself 'Wow, i remember writing that.' or 'Has it been this long ago?' *sigh*...or...' Did i really say that? I always wanted to go back and re-visit them, and re-review them. I tried to edit a couple of them a couple of years later when Gamespot first introduced their layout because for some reason some of my reviews were filled with random letters and numbers...so i had to edit some of them, but kept the same words in tact.

In 2015, I found some time to start something...kinda small...elsewhere on the internet. My YouTube Channel if you're interested.

But now it's the End of 2016.

*sigh* Good lord, it's been so long ago hasn't it? Here I am, 19 years old now. Currently enrolled in college, with a high end PC, and over 1300 games in my collection. Well, if it isn't obvious, but maybe i should go ahead and say it, I have officially decided to step away from Gamespot. I had some good times writing some of the most nonsensical stuff ever, but I'm looking back...7 years...95 followers....146 Reviews...some good...some bad. You know what?...I'm happy with that. It's awesome to know that someone read my stupidity. And judging from i saw...nobodies on here much anymore, so...They moved on...tis fitting that I do the same. So....Farewell Everyone, and Thanks a Million for Everything. :)

Games That I'm STILL Waiting For.

Whether they have been cancelled, pushed back, still in development, or...just sitting there. These games I'm still waiting for. So...let this list begin

PREY 2

The first Prey game wasn't bad, but there was room for improvement. So when i heard they were going to make a sequel, I was like..."Awesome!"..."So when is it coming out?" I remember Trailers, Screenshots. Heck, I think I remembered an ad that was in one my games. So whats up? From what I heard, the game has moved to a different developer and is In fact...In development. Well, I hope we here something this E3. Because this is taking to long.

DEEP DOWN

Suggestive title out of the way, anyone remember this? The awesome looking trailer during the PS4 reveal. A free-to-play game, with the style of a dungeon crawler! Sounds appealing! Only for it to not be anywhere at E3 last year. I know it's been only a year, but with Capcom's problems with money lately, It's a wonder if this game will ever be off the ground!

FINAL FANTASY XV

a.k.a: Final Fantasy XIII Versus. Don't get me started with the FFXIII sequels, or FFXIII for that matter. But even though this has been development for years, why does it seem like it's going to take even more years just to release it? The trailer caught my eye. It looks completley different from all the FF games out there. But in my opinion, I will allways look at this game as Final Fantasy XIII Versus

STAR WARS: BATTLEFRONT & STAR WARS: 1313

No Caption Provided

Two games in the same license. Now, we know EA is making the new Battlefront, hoping that turns out good, but the fact is we have been waiting years for Battlefront III. I know we had games on the PSP, Renegade Sqaurdron was awesome! But a Battlefront III was actually finished. Only for them to not release it.

Speaking of Star Wars, What about Star Wars: 1313? I know it's been cancelled, but heres the thing. From what I heard when LucasArts was shut down, and when Disney bought the Star Wars license, The games trademark was not renew, leaving the game's name and trademark...sitting there.....seriously? This could be easily resolved, just renew the trademark, or just use the same idea and just call it something completly different. Then again the possiblities of them doing that are 725 to 1, sooooo......yeah.

BANJO-THREEIE

Yes, a bit of a long shot. But I'm still waiting for the next platforming entry into the series. The reason why I've added this one on the list is because Rare has not been doing anything with the Banjo series......at all. It's quite terrible to be honest. I know we had Nuts & Bolts, but it was Nuts & Bolts! We need a true installment, and with Microsoft struggling with the XBone. This would be a no-brainer.

THE LAST GUARDIAN

Of all the games on this list, all from above and below. I swear up and down, frustratingly saying..."When Will This Be Released?!" The game was announced like 7 or 8 years ago, as a PS3 title. And it seems that it's still in development. But now I'm getting a little impatient. Sony, please get this out the door? I know Project Ico wants to take their sweet time with it. But to be honest, If they want the game to have some sort of relevance, they better hurry, because it's slowly becoming vaporware.

MEGAMAN LEGENDS 3

Yeah yeah yeah, I Know! Capcom has been axeing Megaman games left and right. We know that this has become such a horror-story to all Megaman fans, and the creator for the matter, up to the point of essentially making a re-creation of Megaman! (which I can't wait for btw) But Capcom, like i mentioned before, Is almost running out of money. And there still over 100,000 people still wanting this game. It maybe cancelled, but wishful thinking or not. This needs to be made. The second game ended on a cliffhanger, And that needs to be resolved.

HALF-LIFE 3

Whether it's Half-Life 2: Episode Three, or just Half-Life 3. This game has been the most biggest question in gaming history. The last game, ended on a cliffhanger. And huge one, and abrupt one. Out of nowhere. This has been talk about constantly, up to the point of lunacy. It's been a long time Valve, and I know you're rolling in the dough, but this is not only taking to long. But you haven't said a bloody thing about it. They refused to talk about it. And I know Valve fans can be annoying, but Come on! Half-Life 3. I Want It, You Want It. Everybody Wants It. And it's taking too long. That, and it's also an easy target for this list.

So thats it, the Games I'm STILL waiting for. What games are you waiting for? Do you disagree with the ones i picked? Or Do you want to share your opinion? Post a comment.

Where Do I Begin?....again!

Okay, once again. I haven't been on here much. This is mostly due to this new Gamespot layout. The navigation is bad, and I couldn't seem to sign in at first. I've also been busy with my job, and personal life been kind of hectic recently. But hey, I'll try to get back on track, and get things moving.

Where Do I Begin?

Hey, everybody. If you read the last blog you would've known that I had some games i was gonna review and talk about. And for over a month now, nothing. Wanna know why? My Computer Broke!! The motherboard blew up, It stopped working. And my warranty was expired. So i had to get a laptop for the time being. Not the most convientent but It'll do. So I do apoligize for those who were looking forward to those reviews, but since I have a laptop, I should bring out the first 2 reviews sometime soon.

Now thats not all I have to talk about....About a week ago...I bought this.

large.jpg

I bought a Wii U. The Wind Waker HD bundle to be exact. I've never played The Wind Waker before, So playing it on the Wii U seem like the logical option. (Besides, I was in the market to get one anyway) I also got Nintendo Land, Super Mario U, and $20 for E-Shop so i can buy a bunch of discounted Virtual Console games, and EarthBound.

I've also been busy with personal life, and my job that I got recently. So anyways, I apoligize for the delay, I'm back on track. I know what to do next. And my reviews will be out soon. Take care.

My Reviews Are Coming Back! Wanna Make a Choice?

In case you haven't noticed, I haven't wrote a review since Feb. 19th. It was Balloon Fight. That was my last review I've did in a while. Since then, I've become burned-out from writing reviews. Then after playing some more games, and actually, taking the time to play them. I have found more games to talk about.

Now since I've been working, I don't know how often I'll be doing reviews. But I will at least try to get 1-2 reviews a month. However I don't really know what game to first be reviewed.

So....heres a few on my mind.

Which One should I review first? How about YOU decide!

My Little Encounter in Civilization V

Ok, get this. In my game on Civilization V, i have had no wars, i got along really well with every country, i trade often, and have open borders. And So far, In the game, I'm the most successful! Hmm.....weird.

I won't be on here much.

Just writing to say that I won't be on Gamespot for a while. The reason is because....Well, I just got a job. That's right. I got hired today in fact. So I'll won't be on much. So with that said. I'll be back on here from time to time, but for now, I'll gonna be busy.

RE-REVIEW #3: GOD OF WAR series {Part 1: God of War and God of War II}

God_of_War_logo.pngTHE ENTIRE SERIES. {PART 1}

This is a re-review on not just one, but the 4 God of War games I've reviewed. These 4 are: God of War 1, 2, 3, and Chains of Olympus.  I will also include reviews of Ghost of Sparta, and the newly released Ascension. All the games will be reviewed in order they were released in. And I will also be covering the HD re-release of The PS2 games, and the PSP games. And at the end, I will give my opinion on the franchise as a whole. So, with that said, let's not waste any more time. Let's get started.

Gowbox.jpgGOD OF WAR

When i was at Gamestop, i saw this game. I thought 'Huh looks, kinda cool.' Then i turn the case around then i read the fine print on the back of the box. "YOU ARE KRATOS, AND YOU WILL MURDER THE GOD OF WAR!" Then i was like 'ok.' Then i bought it, played it, and I loved very minute of it.

Released In 2005,  The game was getting 9's and 10's all over the place. So, after 8 years since it was released, does the game aged well? Let's find out.

In case you haven't heard of him, you play as Kratos, a spartan warrior. And he is tasked to kill the God of War. Simple as that.

The graphics for its time were awesome. And the music, still as epic as ever.  The gameplay, Let's say you got done playing Devil May Cry, and then your moving on to this game. The combat is smooth, fast, and eye-poppingly gory. The game is bloody, and over the top. And thats awesome. Though it can get a little button mashy at times, and it can get a little repetitive. If theres one thing I not a fan of though, is the Quick Time Events. However, they are for the most part optional, aside from the bosses. The game controls really fluently, and excellent. I've never had a problem there.

But what really stands in God of War, or every game in the series for that matter, is the mythology it represents. Greek Mythology. I've been of fan of it, it's really intresting. I'm am impressed of the imagination that went into this, seeing serpents, cyclopes, minotaurs, medusas, the Greek Gods. They took all of that, and made it into it's own Game series. And the character Kratos, is a bad-ass, with actually, a really great backstory.

God of War is a fantastic game, The gameplay is solid, the music is awesome, and the whole Idea of taking Greek Mythology, and making it into a game back then was an outstanding idea. Not only do I think The game has aged well, but I consider it one of the best PS2 games I've ever played, period.

OLD SCORE: 10/10

NEW SCORE: 9.5/10

THE GAME STILL HOLDS UP.

Gow2-2.jpgGOD OF WAR II

The sequel came out in 2007. And guess what else was around at that time? The PS3. This was one the last games that Sony put on the PS2 before moving on to the PS3. Also, the PS3 wasn't doing well at time. So this was not only a good way to bring it out on the PS2 for bettter sales, but also stands as a departure for the PS2. A 'swan song' if you wanna call it. So does this one aged well? Well, let me tell ya.

The story is that Kratos is now the God Of War, the other Gods are not liking what he's doing. Zeus tried to kill you, so now Kratos is going after Zeus. Theres more Gods in this game than the previous one, which mean more bosses. Which means that God of War II is a much longer game. And theres my biggest problem with the sequel. Though the game is better in variety, i do think the game is a lot more longer than it needs to be, making God of War II, a slightly tiring experience. With the first game, the length in that game was perfect, not to long, or short. Just right. In the sequel however, it tends to drag a little bit. But does that make it a bad game? OF COURSE NOT!

The gameplay is better. The combat has been tweaked, though like the first game can just leave you button mashing, and theres variety in the gameplay, there's more puzzles, different weapons, powers, and theres flying sections in the game. The soundtrack just as fantastic as the first game. and The graphics is some of the Best the PS2 had to offer.

However, since theres is more gameplay, that also means more Quick time events, in the first game, most of them were optional. With the sequel however, They're EVERYWHERE! Since theres more boss fights, most of them have quick time events. And they for the most part, a pain. Ok, the QTE's are still optional for main enemies. But since they're more bosses, that kinda doesn't mean much.

But the one that really got me hanging "literally' was the ending. When i played this the first time. I got to this ending. My only impression was 'seriously?' Now What happens in the ending is cool. But it also ends....with a cliffhanger. Now keep in mind, this is before God of War III came out. And you come across this ending. Won't you be a little let down? Yes, i know another sequel was in mind, but we had to wait 3 years for it. So imagine, playing it, beaten it, got the ending, waiting 3 years for God of War III. It just really left me hanging for a long...long time.

So in conclusion, God of War II is a damn good sequel, but after the years went on, I have to say though I think the game has aged well, I do think the game has started to become less enjoyable. No to say the game is bad, it's awesome. But isn't what i would call the best God of War.

OLD SCORE: 9.5/10

NEW SCORE: 8.5/10

GAME HAS AGED WELL, THOUGH NOT AS GOOD AS IT USE TO BE.

Both of these games has been released on the PS3. So, how about we take a look at these.

God_of_War_Collection_Cover.jpg

It's basically the first 2 games only it looks a little better. The load times are shorter. However, besides that, theres not much difference. One thing that is worth noting its though the game has been a second coat of paint, the cut-scenes on the other hand, haven't been, they look like the same that was on the PS2. Making them look awkward. It also has trophy support. So if you collecting those, there you go.

Overall, this is probably the best way to play these 2 games. If you have a PS3. Go ahead and pick this up.

THIS IS THE END OF PART 1 of the God of War re-reviews. For PART 2, I'll be re-reviewing God of War: Chains of Olympus, and God of War III. So make sure you check for that.

What do you think of God of War 1 or God of War 2. Post of comment below.

Thanks.

Diablo III on PS4 AND PS3?!

Diablo_III_cover.png

Yeah, i know i'm a little late on this. But I've been busy. Anyways, Diablo III, the PC game released last year. Has been announced...again. For PS3 and PS4. Now, I could be up and arms about it, but actually, I'm looking forward for it.

Why? Well for one reason, and one reason only. Offline Play. Being online at all times just to play alone is something I really hate, and Diablo III on PC was exactly like that. The PS3 and PS4 versions will NOT be like that. Thank God!

Also 4-Player Co-Op? Yes Please!
