Ok so I havent bothered to make a blog post in ages but I feel I should right now. Only to increase the voices to be heard about the outrage that has occured. The personality of Gamespot in my eyes is gone. Without all the faces of Gamespot it is as soulless as IGN.

I feel sorry for the great staff at Gamespot that have to be under a corporate watch, the people at Gamespot are great I love their work but with outside influences having a negative impact its starting to get annoying.

Gaming Bonanza

Hmm what is a bonanza really? O well, with the release of a bunch of new games I have lots of options. Recently I've gotten

  • Command and Conquer 3
  • The Godfather
  • Silent Hunter: Wolves of the pacific
  • Jade Empire Special Edition
  • Stalker
  • Supreme commander
  • Rainbow Six: Vegas yet.
Long list eh? I'm still lacking a next gen console but I'll get over it. Also I'm crazy about that Stalker PC comp I feel like I MUST win it! I probably won't :( but if I do I'll tell you and then run around naked (maybe).

Gaming Nostalgia

So I was talking with some friends earlier about our oldest systems and what not, well I remembered my SNES and my original Gameboy, but then I remembered an old system I had which I didn't remember much. I went around researching and found out it was an Atari from the XL series.

I was a little bit excited because I never knew it was an Atari, I made a mad dash for my mother to see if it was with the old stuff under the floor or not. Then she said those words. "I threw it away years ago"

NOOOO!

I'll get over it.

The Madness!

So I've enrolled for my 2 year HSC Studies course at TAFE, I'm still abit unnerved because I don't know much about what is going to go on.

I also have a LAN tommorow (my first ever!) to plan for, I've got to install my games and somehow with my 64kps speed cap (damn dl limits..) patch them.

BUT the main recent event is my madness...I recently discovered a little site called EBAY, yes you may of heard of it. It all started when I won the Ultimate Alliance comp and got a 360 game and since I don't own a 360 sold it on ebay. This inturn gave me some money in paypal and I just innocently lurked around Ebay until the madness set it. Three days later and I am awaiting shipment of 5 items bought.

God help me.

2007 About to get in gear.

So my HSC studies intense Tafe course starts soon im about anxious but I should be ok. The new year has alot of things that interest me such as Vista, DX10, supreme commander, (too many games to mention), and an old friend tempts me.

I am talking about burning crusade released recently which is tempting me I must say I played from week 1 and onwards for 2 years. I ended up quitting after the guild I had played with for 2 years dissapated. Now its back and it wants my soul again... I must resist , I need this HSC.

I'm also geeking over a new joystick, of course theres always something thats beyond your range but maybe later. I've been having urges to play flight sims and thus want a joystick, my gamepad doesn't really cut it.

AND finally I bid farewell to my favourite Gamespot editor, Greg Kasavin, I'm really unhappy about him leaving but I wish him best wherever he goes though he won't need it. Even though I don't know him I know we would get alot well, he is sort of a funny guy without being corny and I remember watching reviews with him in previous years, you can watch him age almost. A great guy. I'll miss your reviews and your witty charm on Gamespot features! :(

Happy New Years!

Hey Gamespotters, happy new year. This year was decent for gaming but considering all the new gen is finally out I think next year is going to be huge! Although I'm mainly a PC gamer.

Yes this year for PC wasn't great, but really there was some quite good games out. Don't worry theres a long line a good PC games due for release and RTS is coming back baby!

Get thinking about new years resolutions! See you guys in Twenty Oh Seven.

Game Scores & Ratings

So we all know about Gamespot's rating system and other systems for rating games, but the question on my mind is, how do we associate how good a game is to which rating it should get?

In my opinion an average game that uses no innovation, isn't particularly exciting, not very immersive, kind of generic, BUT is still quite fun and will give you atleast a small amount of average game time should be rated 5.0.

For some reason I find it odd that people rate games in the 7-10 area and they were "just ok". If a game is "Close but missed the mark" does it really deserver an 8? Another thing is that a rating of 5.0 shouldn't be undergraded, there shouldn't be anything wrong with getting a 5.0 its just not really anything to brag about.

Maybe I'm just a harsh critic? Anyhow that's my two cents.

Ze Blog No.1

Hi, this is my first Gamespot blogpost, I decided that it would give me something to do and give me a place to voice my opinions things of the like.
