Set My Spirit Free

I Am A Bird Now is probably one of my most played LP's. I went through this phase where I listened the record at least once a day. Most people I know can't stand his voice, but I think it's great. Whenever this song comes on... so amazing.
That Moment When...

That moment when you write a crazy long and super detailed post for a somewhat serious topic in the OT, but decide not to post it due to the topic dropping off to page two because you took too long writing.

Books And Music And Stuff

Wall of text incoming. So in my last post I said I was gonna do that artsy quote thing, but I forgot about it and now I'm too lazy to post another.... so that little idea is officially over. :P Instead I'm just gonna post a little media update. I've actually been reading for fun. Crazy idea, I know. I just finished "Fifth Avenue, 5 A.M." by Sam Wasson.
SO GOOD. I couldn't stop reading it. It's basically about everything involved with Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast At Tiffany's and actresses way back then... like it says on the cover. :P There's a ton of backstory on the casting, production, and writing of the film adaption. It dips into Audrey's personal life and the roles of women in the 50's and 60's (Marilyn was the slutty one, Doris was the innocent goody girl, and Audrey was the perfect balance). :P Read it, please.
I just picked up two more books that I haven't started yet. "Middlesex" by Jeffrey Eugenides and "Between A Heart And A Rock Place" by Pat Benatar.
....
I may or may not have heard of Middlesex from a Lykke Li interview. :P It's apparently about a man who's a hermaphrodite. He was raised as a girl due to having both male and female characteristics. I guess it's about his family, life, and gender roles. Sounded really interesting so I picked it up. The Pat Benatar book is a memoir. Pat is awesome so the book must be awesome. Love is a battlefield, man.
Music wise, as I write this I'm listening to Kelis' newest album. MY MILKSHAKE BRINGS ALL THE BOYS TO THE YARD. Yeah, that Kelis. Wrong album for that song, though. This one is Fleshtone. Very very very dancey. I now see why she toured with Robyn. It's actually really good. How do you pronounce her name? :P
I have a stack of albums that I haven't listened to yet. It's includes The National's newest album, Shiny Toy Guns' newest album, Sara Bareilles' newest album, Arcade Fire's newest album, and R.E.M.'s newest album. A lot of "newest albums". :P OH, and I also found some old Edith Piaf records at a thrift store. THEY SOUND AMAZING. I was listening to them earlier while wearing a beret, sipping on wine, eating a croissant, wearing a curly black mustache, and looking at a picture of the Eiffel Tower on Google Images. Gooood times.
That's about it. Whoooooo, long blog compared to usual. If you made it through this entire post, congratulations, you win at life.

Dear GS Users,
I just signed a petition demanding that Ugandan President Musevini veto the "Kill The Gays" bill should it be passed in Parliament.
We just learned the "kill the gays" bill - a death sentence for LGBT people in Uganda - could come up for a vote in the next 48 hours if we don't act now.
Conservative leaders are trying hard to push the bill forward before the millions like us who oppose it have a chance to speak out. If we can create a massive international outcry, theres a chance to stop this bill from becoming law.
This hateful bill appears to be a political diversion, a way to distract from the legitimate grievances of pro-democracy activists, who have been beaten, teargassed, jailed, and even killed in recent weeks.
There are only days left to make sure your voice is heard. Will you join me in demanding the Ugandan President Musevini veto the "Kill The Gays" bill should it be passed in Parliament? Sign and share this urgent petition:

I Look Up, I Look Down. I Look Up...

So lately I've kinda been obsessed with Alfred Hitchcock. I have no idea how it started, but now I can't stop. My local library has supplied me with an endless amount of his films, while also saving me from spending a small fortune. So far I've seen...
- Vertigo
- The Birds
- Psycho
- Rope
I know, that's barely anything. This Hitchcock hobby just started earlier this month. At this very moment, Rebecca is staring at me waiting to be watched. I also have Rear Window and Lifeboat on hold, waiting for me. So many movies. Yay. How exciting, right? :P
I'm mostly blogging this to ask you guys... what's your favorite Hitchcock film? Am I missing the best of the best? Now if you hate Hitchcock or something like that, then stop reading and go away now. :P
