Super Street Fighter IV Review

Porting the console fighter to the 3DS! Its the battle of the century...fight!

Gameplay: In one word, great! Push a button, it does what it is supposed to. Controls do their job. The touch screen addition allows much more accessibility to new players. You can spam the touch screen for consant "Hadoken"s. Though good players will crush you if you try doing so. Two attacks are available at all times on the touch screen. Then it also has two special attacks which can only be done after doing required steps to fill up some bars. (Basically hitting them and getting hit back = fill up the bar = boo yah!) You can move with the analog nub or the d-pad. The d-pad is tighter/stiffer, while the nub is looser. I prefer the d-pad but it is all up to personal taste. Button mashing won't get you anywhere against a decent opponent. So instead of something like Mortal Kombat 1+2 where you walk up block, spam attack, and win. You go through fast paced battles that require fast reflexes and good timing to counter all of their moves while hitting them with your own stuff! Online works well with a good connection. There is a quickplay option. Some streetpass stuff that I couldn't try out! And Arcade mode which is the meat of the game alongside online multiplayer. 35 Different characters which are nicely balanced and all feel different enough to play around with each. Gameplay: 8/10

Graphics: The art style of Street Fighter is beautiful. And looks smooth and yummy on the 3DS!. Animations are fluid and nice. The 3D shows depth without hurting anything else in the game. Its all great. Not much to say! Its that simple. 9/10

Sound: Also short and simple. The soundtrack owns. Hearing Ryu go "HADOKEN" owns. And everything else sounds fitting and well done. Capcom put a lot of work into making this game good. 9/10

Lasting Value: Arcade Mode is kind of like a story mode. You pick a character, they show a cut scene that gives a small but meaningful subplot. Then you fight through a bunch of guys. Then you fight a rival, then Seth who is the main bad guy boss!. Then another cut scene afterwards to conclude their story. This can take 15-45 minutes depending on how well you are doing. 35 characters, all worth playing through. You should get at least 10 hours out of arcade mode. Then Online is very competitive, works well, and should add many many hours if you love the gameplay. And the streetpass stuff is something to play around with if you can get friends nearby. Lots to do for a fighting game. 8/10

Overall: 8.5/10 This is THE launch title to grab. The 3D won't pop but the depth is nice. Everything about this game is extremely well polished and done right. BUY IT NOW.

Madden 3D Review

Porting last year's Madden to the 3DS and throwing some sloppy 3D into it.

Gameplay: Most of the gameplay is straight up Madden, and for huge football fans, it is fun. Though not quite as polished as the console versions, it is solid gameplay. You move with the analog stick which works well, then if you've played Madden before, the rest of the buttons are pretty obvious. The main problem is that it is stripped down bare. No multiplayer. No franchise mode. All you get is quick play and season mode. You can't even do trades. So if you are a wannabe GM who wants to pull that blockbuster deal to make the Bills into the new Packers, you can't do it. You can release players and sign free agents, but the upgrade is usually minimal and not needed. Gameplay has one glitch where your punt returner will drop the ball, or let it go by for no reason, much more often than normally. Outdated rosters make re-playing last season feel outdated. Brett Favre, seriously? Get out of here, old man. But the gameplay is solid otherwise and still fun if you absolutely eat, sleep, and breath football. 7/10

Graphics: I'd compare the graphics to PS2/Wii graphics. But the characters are much smaller due to the handheld screen. They are somewhat clean and do their job well. Animations are pretty nice, with some iffyness here and there. Nothing special here, but it gets the job done for handheld Madden. 6/10

Sound: Normal generic Madden sounds. Crowd cheers. Tackles sound like tackles. Whistles are whistles. It is all normal and sounds alright. The rock tunes in the game are very good, Guns N' Roses, AC/DC, etc. 7/10

Lasting Value: No multiplayer. No franchise mode. Those are the main modes people play in Madden on consoles. So with both missing, there isn't much to do. All you can do is play Season Mode, or quick play. Play some games. Thats it. With the lack of multiplayer, I would have liked to see a full fledged franchise mode like the console games. Madden fans may still enjoy playing Season mode though. 5/10

Overall: 6.25/10 If you just want a game of football on the go, to play a game or two on the bus, this will do. But it is extremely stripped down and lacking features.

Face Raiders Review

Face Raiders is a pre-installed game on the 3DS. I'll be reviewing games by how much they cost. As this is free with the system, I won't be too harsh on it. But fair and unbiased will always be my motto for my reviews. These will be quick to the point reviews. You don't need long two page reviews to find out normal info.

Gameplay: Face Raiders has you take a picture of something, which is supposed to be someone's face. It then turns the face(or whatever you choose to take a pic of) into a bad guy. Then it gets right into the action. You move the 3DS around to aim. Hit the A button to shoot. Thats it! Nice and Simple. The background will be wherever you are. I played in my green bedroom. So the background was green walls for me. The evil bad guys with the face you installed into them, attack from all over, forcing you to move the 3DS around a lot. You must move around to keep up with the 3DS, making it easy to lose the sweetspot. You shoot yellow balls at the bad guys, they die. Sometimes rocks break apart and fly at the screen. Sometimes big lips appear on a bad guy, it rushes at you and slams into the screen to plant a big kiss! If you want to show off the 3D, this is the quick and easy way to do so! The 3D is really awesome with this game. It is a fun game, but it isn't something you'll play for 10+ hours. 7/10.

Graphics: Well most of the graphics are real life things, so its the most realistic graphics ever! But yeah hard to judge graphics when the majority of them are someone's face and your surroundings. The "bullets" and such are nice and cartoony, like most Nintendo games. They are clean and do their job well. Not special, but definitely not bad. 6/10

Sound: Very generic and normal. Shooting sounds like shooting. Other background sounds add to the theme of the game. Not much detail there, but there isn't much sound here! Its a straight up shooting game. 5/10

Lasting Value: As the game is free, any time you play with it is bonus time anyways! Hours beating dollars is always good. You can go through several "levels" and they even include boss fights on the levels. Some players may take a liking to it enough to play through all the content available. And then showing off to your friends and zapping their face into dust will always be a good time waster here and there. You won't be putting in too much time with it, but it isn't meant to be long and epic! 6/10

Overall: 6/10. It is a nice time waster and it'll always be on your system. The 3D effect is great on this game. Definitely something everyone who gets a 3DS should try. But judging from an actual game standpoint, its a very simple, somewhat shallow shooting game. But fun nonetheless, for a little while at least! Be careful of too much 3D, I got a minor headache from this game.

3DS Hardware Hands on. Part 1.

Its almost 1:30 AM eastern time so I'm tired. But I have my 3DS and just want to make some quick notes on it.

If you are used to the ds lite/dsi screens then the 3D top screen looks nice and big and beautiful! The analog stick is really small looking compared to online pictures, but it works great, feels perfect. The rest of the buttons all do their job well. The stylus is nice, extendable, metal and sexy.

Now onto the 3D! It works great. Granted I just saw some main menu stuff and played Face Raiders. But the 3D is the real deal, in your face action. And yes it can definitely give you a headache. I have a minor headache right now! But yes the 3D is very nice. The sweet spot depends on the game I've heard, but so far it isn't bad at all. If you lose the sweetspot, you are gaming wrong. People trying to watch someone play will get some blurry scary mess though, if they are out of the sweetspot.

That is all for right now, I picked up Madden, Super Street Fighter, and Ghost Recon Shadow Wars. I'll be playing them after a good night's rest. Probably the augmented reality games also. As I explore more of the system, I'll do a part 2 of this segment and add more that is missing. There is also a "power saving" mode that I'm not sure what it does, and haven't tried yet. Probably dims the lights or something but who knows!

PSP2, and predicting the future.

So we got details on this today. The handheld looks good, for sure, but there are many cons to throw at it.

They claim PS3 graphics, and yet the Uncharted tech demo looked meh, and definitely was nowhere near PS3. Maybe the tech demo was just poorly done, or rushed. But it is their job to show off something good. Metal Gear 3DS's demo looked better.

Many features, touch screen, cameras on front and back, gyroscope, etc. are blatantly copied from the original DS, DSi, and 3DS.

The random touch pad on the back is just weird, don't really see how it'd take over for any of the more important buttons/joysticks.

Overall, this seems to be an exact repeat of the current generation. Nintendo comes out with groundbreaking, incredibly innovative technology, for a significantly cheaper price. Sony comes out with a dull, normal system. Nothing special about it. Just tries to win on graphics. And chances are this thing will be at least 300 dollars.

Not hating on this system at all, I would buy one if it's price was decent. I like my Killzone and my Sackboy as much as the next guy. But if it does come out for 300+ dollars, no way in Hell. the 3DS's graphics are very good also, and you get 3D action in your face as you play. PS3 will be same price, if not cheaper. And it'll have better graphics and games.

So the prediction is that the 3DS will outsell the PSP2, or whatever Sony ends up calling it. Innovation and better games won this generation, they should have no problem taking this one either. Heads up, a link to this article will be posted to you in the future if you're one of the ignorant people trying to say this thing will dominate the handheld market.

The 3DS game nobody is talking about.

This game has not been on any lists. It is not confirmed. And no speculation or chatter has been heard about it. Call of Duty! Whether you are one of the people who buys Call of Duty each year for your PS3/360, or you hate it for whatever reason, The Call of Duty franchise is very good and usually spreads to most platforms. We can surely count on Activision to hook us up with a 3D Call of Duty, right?! Chances of us getting another FPS this year for the 3DS are probably slim. As none are confirmed, and they would need some time to be developed. So Call of Duty 3D, if it does come out this year, may be our first FPS on the 3DS!

We have seen 3DS screenshots of games exceeding PS2 graphics, easy example would be Metal Gear. With one analog, touch screen, 3D, and hopefully PS2-ish graphics, I think this could be the best handheld fps ever! Keep your eyes out, I'll be shocked if Activision fails to give us a 3D version of their popular shooter this year.

Also, Nintendo's first party title, Steel Diver is not getting the hype of their other first party titles. And yet it looks very interesting and unique. Not much info yet but oh well!

Why haters need to stop hatin' (@ Activision) and MW3!!!

First off, it has been reported, not confirmed that Modern Warfare 3 is this year's Call of Duty. But three developers are working on it...

Sledgehammer is new and not trustworthy yet. Infinity Ward got stripped down, even though they have reloaded. And Raven, no offense to any of their supporters, hasn't wow'ed the gaming industry recently. So this will be a very untrustworthy Call of Duty title. But good luck to the workers, hope it turns out good.

Now onto the haters of Call of Duty, and in general, Activision. Nobody was complaining or hating on Starcraft 2, or WoW Cataclysm from 2010. Maybe because those are less mainstream(but still extremely popular, and they should be.)

People like to think of Bobby Kotick s the devil. And yet as the court case moves forward, it seems like West/Zampella are the ones who did the crime. Not Activision. "Oh but they come out with games each year and they lose their quality!!!"

No? Skateboarding and Music were both flash in the pan genre games. Do people think Tony Hawk 1 is better than the more recent one? Or Guitar Hero better than Guitar Hero 5/Warriors of Rock? Nope! Quality gets better each time, maybe not the set list of tracks in guitar hero but oh well. Call of Duty gets better each year also. Black Ops is great. Is it bad to keep fans happy by giving them yearly products? "Oh my God they just want moar moniez!!!" Every company's goal is to make money. But yearly Call of Duty is fan support. Its a very hot game, and a lot of those fans would rage if they didn't get another one this fall.

Then I rarely see Black Ops players going around downtalking other fps's. Sure it happens, but not as often. Haters actively find anything Call of Duty(see any gamespot article that pops up about the franchise) and downtalk it. Campers are in most first person shooters. All of them actually, except maybe those sci-fi quake-esque ones where you run 200 mph and jump to the ceiling. Camping is a real life military strategy. Learn to look around the corner and stop whining. Our soldiers in Iraq/Afghanistan don't QQ about terrorists camping in the caves. Grow up.

Killzone is my favorite FPS. But Call of Duty has more customization, and is much deeper with its' exclusive perks/killstreaks/etc. Sure you can prefer another fps, but don't downtalk other fps's. Especially when you probably don't have a good arguement. Camping, lag, noob tubes, every fps(though killzone doesn't lag for me) so yep. Go play your favorite fps instead of wasting your time hating on Call of Duty and Activision. Thanks.

3DS Priced and Dated!!! ...and my msn messenger.(Add Me!!!)

Today was a good day for gamers. We now know that the Nintendo 3DS will hit U.S stores March 27th, and for $249.99

No 300 dollars, no scary stuff. Yay! I will be reviewing 3DS games as they come. The launch window titles seem solid enough, no complaints.

I'm on msn messenger quite often, add me if you wish~
