Mario Kart Wii

Mario Kart Wii is a great game. It adds to the experience of the previous Mario Kart games by adding motorcycles, online competetive play, and an insane variety of old and new. On top of that there are a few new items and the ability to do tricks that ramp up the gameplay. In addition there is a variety of controls one of which is the Wii wheel which is designed to feel like a steering wheel and it works quite well with the game. There are also a few other control schemes if you don't like the Wii wheel. You should be able to find something that suits you. Some issues are that some of the old courses are boring, the battle modes are timed and now team based, and the bomb blast battle from Mario Kart Double Dash was removed. Mario Kart Wii is a good purchase and anyone who doesn't hate racers will find something to love. I would give this game 8.8 out of 10.

Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles

Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles brings back a few of your favorite Resident Evils and puts them all into a single disc arcade style rail shooter. Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles has some easy to pick up controls and fun gameplay. It is fun to aim and shoot with the Wii remote and ends up being a pretty cool game. It has Resident Evils 0, 1, and 3. I am not sure why they didn't include 2. That was the best Resident Evil game until Resident Evil 4 came along. I was annoyed by that. The game doesn't present anything new to the rail shooter world but the game has a good length and plenty of levels. There are also a number of bonus missions. There is a good variety of weapons too. The games issues include the fact that it doesn't have resident evil 2 which I mentioned before, and just the fact that it is a rail shooter. Don't get me wrong this is a good game but the fact that you can't explore is sure to hamper your fun even though there are a few spots where you can choose different paths. This is a good game that you may want to rent, but unless you completely love first person shooters or are a big fan of the Resident Evil series you probably don't want to buy this game. I would give this game a 7.5 out of 10.

Rise of Nations

Rise of Nations is a strategy game. You have to research to advance your nation and the conquer the map. There is a lot of strategy involved here due to the fact that you can make allies or start wars. The game has taken a lot of great concepts from civilization along with giving it graphics like Age of Empires. This works really well and it is really cool to send your men to attack and watch them fight. The game has a conquer the world campaign which is basically like a risk board, but when you attack or are being attacked you are put into a scenario, and you have to come out on top. On top of that there is a simple quick play mode where you can make a battle any way you want because you have so many options to mess around with. Also the game has online capabilities where you can host or join a battle. If you are playing with the right people you will have a really good time. The only problem is Rise of Nations doesn't really present any new ideas for strategy games, but in the end Rise of Nations is a superb game and I would give this a 9.5 out of 10.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories

I looked into buying GTA Vice City Stories because GTA Liberty City Stories was so awesome. This game was generally very good. It has your regular GTA stuff including stealing cars and shooting people. I was happy with the fact that now in this game you can fly helicopters and swim unlike in Liberty City Stories. You play as Vic Vance and he is kicked onto the streets after getting into trouble with his military superior and has to build an empire while seeking revenge. The story isn't quite as good as in Liberty City Stories but the ability to use helicopters makes up for it. However this game had a lot of annoying problems and a lot of parts feel unfinished. There are a lot of graphical blemishes when you are moving at high speeds in a vehicle. A fence might just appear right in front of you while your driving at 100 miles and hour. It kept happening over and over. Also the FBI's vehicles change from black to white and back while moving at high speeds. The missions are a little more difficult in my opinion and the cheat codes are a little more sparse. All these problems add up to make it feel like and unfinished game that could have been way better.

Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories

Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories was my first mature game and it was a good choice. It is fun taking out civilians on the street and jacking any car you see. The story is good and it is fun to try and avoid the cops. The GTA series has some of the best sandbox games out there and it is obviously one of the best franchises out their. I was really surprised to find that GTA Liberty City Stories was so stunning even though it came out on the PSP. I never knew such and awesome game could come out on a handheld. The game contains your typical GTA fun and some cool missions, however the large multistep missions that you might be familiar with from the PS2 Grand Theft Auto's is not here. The missions are shorter and more simple due to the fact that the tiny PSP disc can't store enough information to handle all that, but in general the missions are still pretty good. There are 3 parts of the city, 2 of which you will have to unlock by progressing through the missions. Now for some of the game's issues. The missions aren't that long although they are still very fun to play. Also I was not happy with the fact that you don't have the ability to fly helicopters although the game does contain a few boats. It was also really annoying that you can't swim, so basically every time you land in the water you drown while in vice city stories you can just swim back to shore. There are also a few very minor graphical glitches I noticed here and there. One thing I forgot to mention is that the game is really fun to play with cheat codes. This will allow you to use certain weapons, get more health, spawn different vehicles, change the weather, automatically get money, etc. Overall GTA Liberty City Stories is a great game that any PSP owner should look into buying. The game's great aspects outweigh it's problems by a long shot.

Resident Evil 4

I was on gamespot one day looking for a good game to play. I have a wii, a gamecube, and a psp. I was lookin through the all time greatest gamecube games and guess what i found? Resident Evil 4. This looked like a more than stellar first person shooter. Plus it's rated M and I love bloody games. I picked this game up for 12 bucks used. After about an hour of playing it I knew it was probably the greatest gamecube game of all time. Not only were the graphics stunning, but the gameplay was insanely awesome. This game has everything from getting your head cut off by a dude with a chainsaw to shooting the merchant who just sold you cool new weapons. Not to mention the intriguing story and interactive cut scenes. This game will keep you playing for quite a while and there is plenty of replay value. The weapons maintain their powerful feel throughout the game thanks to the upgrades you can purchase. The difficulty feels just right even though the game really is on the tough side. If you have a gamecube and are 17 years old YOU HAVE TO HAVE THIS GAME! The controls and over the shoulder perspective are also great. The only thing I think that could have been better is if you could strafe side to side. I guess if you could strafe from side to side the game would be too easy because if a zombie type guy was about to slash you with and axe you could just step to the side and dodge it. I also wish the game had at least some kind of basic multiplayer where you could just run around the village and shoot your friends with weapon pickups or maybe they could have incorporated a co-op campaign where Leon and Lewis fight side by side. This error is made up for by the fact that it is just as fun to watch someone play it as it is to play it yourself. I also forgot to mention the game's stunning boss fights. Most of the bosses are a lot bigger than Leon, but they all have a some sort of weak point or strategy for destroying them. You will fight all sorts of bosses. There is everything from giant ogres to blind prisoners with giant claws. Overall I would give Resident Evil 4 a 9.5 out of ten because of the lack of multiplayer. Every other aspect of this game is perfect! This game is a must have for any gamecube owner.
