Just got back from vacation.

This is my first attempt at a journal entry.......anywhere. Go easy on me.
Well...I just got back from vacation yesterday. I had a great time! Me, my wife, and two friends rented a house in Holden Beach, NC. The house was right on the beach. You could take two steps off of the back porch and find yourself burried in sand. Another 20 feet and you'd be getting wet from the crashing waves. The beach was fantastic. We were lucky to miss most of tropical storm Gaston and completely miss hurricane Frances. The weather was beautiful and the ocean was always beckoning. Everyday I had to go into the ocean and let it's currents whisk me away to where ever it wanted. I managed to bodysurf a few good waves. When the wave pulls you in just before it's ready to crash and how your torso is completely free during the whole ride in is so invigorating. I didn't want to leave.
We felt some effects of Gaston, mostly in 30 MPH winds and a bit of a chopy surf. My wife and I decided to go into the water during the surf. That was a bad idea. The currents were very powerful and managed to knock her down with every crash. She was slowly being swept out to sea. I managed to get to her, but I didn't have the strength to pull her back. The currents were pulling both of us to a salt water death. Thankfully, my friend, Chad, was there and managed to pull us out. My wife and I were thinking the same thing as we were getting swept away, "So this is what it feels like to drown." We couldn't get any footing with the waves crashing on us. Just as a wave passed us another, more powerful, wave would smack us again.
I did manage to take my PS2 down with me, but I was disappointed as the TV in the house only had the coaxial inputs. The first night we were there, we had to go to Wal-Mart for groceries. I managed to snag and RF adapter for the PS2 as well. I only played Hot Shots Golf Fore when I was drying off from swimming. My friend had brought his GameCube so we could have some heated battles in Soul Calibur II. That game is great. No other game will bring out my inner madness. We could be playing for about twenty minutes and I'll start yelling out unintelligible obscenities. So, needless to say, I had fun doing that.
I didn't think leaving the beach would be so hard, but on Saturday morning, I felt the urge to call work and say, "I quit!" I didn't, of course, but entertained the thought, nontheless. We had packed things up Friday evening and loaded up the car. I managed to get us lost in the first fifteen minutes of our trip. I couldn't remember which way we had to go on SR 17. I went the wrong way, of course, and lost about thirty minutes drive time. After about twelve hours of driving we got home safe and sound. We are definitely going back again next year.
Keep in mind that this is my first journal entry. The point is to get better as I do them.
