Say What????

As you can see from a couple of posts back, I had some problems with my PS3. I had shipped it to a repair center as the retailer whom I bought the warranty from. Strange thing is that 2 days ago I received an e mail from Sony stating they're shipping a box to me for me to send it their repair center. I had never made such a request. I called Sony and they stated that I made this request order online, Friday 3pm. Excuse me? I did WHAT??? :|

This is getting too strange. I'm calling the repair center (a company called Asurion) again first thing in the morning to find out if it may be them who made this request, although it does seem odd that they would even do such a thing.

Back in school

I returned to college this fall and I'm taking a few classes. One of them being English Composition II. The course began with a lot of emphasis on analysis. I tell you, this class was kicking my a-- at first, but I eventually got the hang of it. best part is that I took a midterm last week and got a whopping A!!! :D

I hope to keep up the moment and wish the best to all the other collegians on GS.

This may be it for my 60gig PS3

Not more than 2 weeks ago I was playing Madden and my PS3 just shut off. I saw the flashing red light which supposedly indicates overheating. I left it alone for hours and did some reading. When I tried to turn it back on again, the load up screen came on, then it shut off again. THAT was it! It never turned on again, nor could I eject the disc.

Being that I purchased an extended warranty from Target (whom I made the purchase from on Launchday '06), I decided to deal with them in possibly getting it fixed, like they claimed they can do. I still spoke to some Sony reps regarding the issue and I would still have the option to get it fixed through them should it be fixed and breaks down in the future. Problem is, they insist the mother board is most likely damaged and Asurion (the company Target is dealing with in respect to the extended warranty and repair) can't fix it. So this means Target most likely will replace it.

I DON'T WANT THE SLIM!!!!

I've had girls tell me the "fat" looked sexy! NO LIE! In any case, I'll miss the 4 USB ports and most importantly, the backwards compatibility. Well, it'll be a few days before i find out what's the verdict with this issue. I'll keep you all posted.....

This is my first blog post in MONTHS!!!

The title says alot. Yet, I want you all to know that I've been gaming harder than ever for 2 reasons: 1, I FINALLY am gaming online and its WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY more addictive than I had even imagined! 2: I have a 40" 1080P Samsung LCD which makes it look great! I'm on the prestige level in COD4 and have just started getting it in on UT3. To all who read this, my PSN screen name is Benny_Blakk (i think thats what you need to add me as a friend.....i HOPE). Please add me to your list of friends. I've been looking to start my own squad for COD4 and UT3. Game on and Happy Holidays everyone!

I don't believe this!!!

They just took a point away from me and brought down to level 10! Wow!

I didn't even do anything crazy! I made a thread in the PS3 forum and it wasn't even a violation! This isn't my day.....

Summer Murders

On the morning of Monday June 11, I recieved a phone call from my sister, telling me she has some bad news. "I don't know if you heard the bad news, but Stack Bundles was killed this morning." It hit me like a ton of bricks. See, Stack Bundles was a local rapper from my hometown of Far Rockaway, Queens in the city of New York. A few years back, several friends and I had built a recording studio and opened its doors to nearly the entire neighborhood. Stack was one of the few we had taken a real liking to, not only cuz of his style, but he was very confident and energetic too. Anyhow, we took a demo of his to DJ Clue and he eventually signed a deal to Desert Storm Records (DJ Clue, Fabolous). J ust about all of Far Rockaway rallied behind him like a hero. He did a stint on Desert Storm for about 2 years but never released an album on that label. He stayed in the mix and eventually ended up on another New York hip-hop label, Dipset/Byrdgang. His buzz was now larger than ever and things looked very promising for his career.....Then comes the morning of June 11. He was shot once in the head and once in the neck right in front of his building in Redfern Projects. His credit cards, and cash were left on his person. The only thing taken was one of the two chain & pendants, so I realy think it wasn't a robbery gone bad.

A couple of weeks ago, my family organized a barbecue and invited a few friends to attend. My younger brother came to town from Maryland and bought a couple of friends. One friend, Julia, I hadn't seen in a few years. Julia was sporting a mohawk unlike any that I've seen and she looked great! I sparked a little cnversation with her to see what she'd been up to and the things she had to say were a bit disappointing. She said she'd been chilling, smoking and drinking. My immediate reply was "someone as young and beautiful as you needs to invest her time in better things than just smoking snd drinking". The remainder of the evening was cool, everyone having a good time and enjoying the food. Earlier this week, I received a phone call from my older brother saying he had some bad news. "Do you remember the girl from the barbecue? Julia? She was killed last night!" It turns out that she liked to hang out with some drug dealing boyfriend she had. He was in debt to some other drug dealers who confronted them that night in the park. There was an altercation, and shots rang out. Julia was shot three times in the chest and her boyfriend four. He survived, but Julia was pronounced dead 30 minutes afterreachingthe hospital.

I don't know why summer time is this way. For those who are from and live in the "hood", its a sad reality to cope with. I remember the summer of 2000 was very similar to this one. My sister was stabbed while fighting some girl, my friend was shot in the arm and leg during a robbery, and a girl that lived a few blocks away was found hung in her new apartment by her own thong. Is this what we have to look forward to? Its always a tough one to swallow.....R.I.P.

The Race of Gaming

I posted a thread today commenting on what I percieve to be prejudice/racism in gaming. The point I brought up basically is that developers more than 90% of the time create a white protagonist. Somehow, some way, I'M seen as the racist when its all said and done! I live in New York City and its quite a diverse city as far as race and ethnicity goes.....yet, racism still plays a major role in life here! Now, as far as the posts that people made, there were a few made with views contrary to mine where some points I honestly agreed with! Some people agreed with me almost entirely....Then you have those who were upset at me....and most of them were white....Question is.....how does a white person get upset at a black man for expressing his contempt for racism??? Are you serious???

This all started over a thread about someone being upset at the depiction of a white Chris Redfield killing droves of African looking "zombies". This drew all sorts of racist slander that was pretty ugly, so I tried to come up with a more constructive method to debate the issue....I guess you can say that i failed....:(

I do think that for the most part, the gaming community does at least try to look past the ugly beast called Racism....and thats something we all should appreciate!

Bias towards PS3

I've noticed since buying the PS3, everyone is not a critic, but an expert. Employees at Gamestop, for example, refuse to "touch it with a 10ft pole"....It doesn't have "enough games" .....blu-ray is over rated ( You wanna whats funny? Not only do most of these people not own a PS3, but they've never even played it!!! This is all prejudice and bias based upon what some "expert" from a gaming mag had to say. News flash guys: using someone else's opinion as a source of information doesn't only mean you're no expert, but it shows you're not too bright!!! Anyhow, I like how all the units are selling out and the new lineup of games is forcing everyone to reconsider. Yeah, the die hard 360 fanboys will refuse to concede, but hey....ignorance is bliss they say, so enjoy your happiness. And for the record, "fanboyism" is so LAME! Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo all have great ideas and products to bring to the table. Go with what you like and enjoy yourself! Game on!8)

The new apartment

As I had mentioned before, I am searching for a new 1 bedroom apartment. I went to check one out yesterday evening and actually lilked it. The unit was renovated (accept for all BRAND NEW appliances in the kitchen...oh well) and no raoches (I find those critters to be absolutley LOATHESOME!) And one of the things I was realing looking for is no carpet! I had helped a friend of mine take out the carpet in a part of his house a few years ago and it was absolutely FILTHY! I do NOT do carpet! Decent sized bedroom and living room, even though I would have liked the living room to be a little bigger. Overall, I like the condition and setup of the apartment.........now the reason for skepticism.......Its located in a section of Brooklyn, New York City called Brownsville. I don't know a person yet that can say exactly HOW MANY projects there are in Brownsville cuz there are THAT many! Now it's not that close to the projects, but as I told my boy last night, the area DEFINITELY has a pulse. I'm getting old (30 in Januaury.....can you believe it???) and I don't have the energy for this thugged out street shyt anymore. I've done some wild crazy shyt when I was younger and was fortunate to not have gotten killed or caught cuz I would have done at least a few years in jail. I'm in no mood to revisit those days.....I'm gonna check outthe neighborhood again and see what its like on a normal evening (yesterday there was a neighborhood event taking place at the park just 2 blocks away, so there was a lot of people walking around). I hope its more to my liking cuz the apartment sure is better than the other ones I've seen since I began searching! I think the block the building itself is on is pretty cool though cuz I noticed a lot of Carribean folk hanging out there. Being that these are my people who've I've lived amongst for most of my life, I know they just like to have a good time and are not too fond of that rowdy shyt, especially with kids around. We shall see.....

You gotta be kidding me!

i made a forum joking how the PS3 is my wife and those who understood where i was coming from joined in adding their own jokes....and i must say a lot of the posts were hilarious! then you had the derelicts who took it super seriously...ranting, raving, pouting, and sighing saying its "sad"..... need i continue? GAME ON!
