Games of 2013

Okay, without a doubt, the most surprising game I've played so far this year is The Last of Us. It's a masterpiece. Magnificent, 10/10 for me. I still don't know if it's better than ol' RDR, but I think RDR still is my #1 game ever, after some thoughtful consideration.
Upcoming games, there is one that stands out on top of all others to be sure. Grand Theft Auto V. Like always, my gamer soul is 100% hyped for a blockbuster series upcoming game. I have a bucket-list on games to buy exceeding $480 in cost by the end of the year, and with the new PS4 coming out I suspect my wallet is going to be empty for New Year's Eve. Who cares, games FTW.

Far Cry 3. This game takes the spot of best first-person shooter of the year. It was thrilling and lots of fun without pulling a "Saints Row". Honestly, I hated the game Saints Row: The Third. It completely lacks emotion, which is one of the top reasons I play a game. It's based on stupid fun. Even the gameplay can be considered lackluster considering what the whole game is based on. Anyway, back to Far Cry 3. It offered so much and felt realistic because of the protagonist. Obviously I'm not a wood-elf, or a genius engineer in space era, or Max Payne and Ezio Auditore with a cool beard (working on that) but Jason is close to my character, at least at the beginning, therefore makes the idea of becoming a badass like him at the end seem more possible than any other game. Anyways, with everything that's put in it, it was a decent pastime. It is still enjoyable to capture forts in various ways after you're done the story.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. I don't know if it's just me but the "IV" in a title seems to be key to innovation. I have higher hopes for this game than what I did for AC3 (which also is not such a bad game as people claim after I've played through it again more attentively.) and from what I've seen so far I haven't come close to disappointment. I'll be sure to buy this game.

Splinter Cell: Blacklist. Honestly, I feel like it's not gonna be much with everything Ubi has shown thus far. The only reason I'll be playing this one is the title and it might be worth a shot. My heart still bleeds because of the new voice-actor for Sam.

Bioshock: Infinite. Okay, story-wise, my jaw has never dropped lower than what it did when I finished Bioshock Infinite. All the pieces coming together so nicely with absolute beautiful narration, and superb voice-acting from key characters, I can certainly say this game will be etched in my memory as the most impressive storyline. The gameplay isn't the best there is to be sure but it certainly is fun. It's like a CoD aspect. Definitely worth buying.

Watch Dogs. This game seems to be the Ubisoft's AC back in 2007. The very new, unique and amazing thing to be played. The game has shown awesome to speechless things from the videos with one exception, the main storyline which at first seemed like a cliche to me. But after some consideration, I think it's more than possible for Ubi to implement things that will make that unique. I have little expectation of plot-holes like they did in AC, but nothing supernatural seems to have a role in this game so Ubi should be able to deal with that problem better than what they did with AC, although it was an above average job done, but most gamers including me expected better.

Call of Duty: Ghosts - Battlefield 4. Honestly, I'm only buying these to kill time with friends. I didn't find much interesting about their concepts since Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Battlefield 2. That's enough said about them I guess.

More should be said about GTA:V but I honestly don't know enough to speculate. Maybe I'll do a review on it when I play it. Should be a 9.5 or higher.

I feel nostalgic because of how long it's been since my first blog post on gamespot.com. My level being 16, the magician lord, although I think it should be increasing faster than this.

Thanks for reading.

Another one a couple years later...

Okay, more than a couple of years after, I decided to post another blog. I guess I'll just keep it simple and talk about the best games that are in my opinion. They are not in any order.

Skyrim - Cliche, but it is there, many gamers' favourite, although not really mine but it's way up in the list I'd say.

Red Dead Redemption - I'm just completely in love with this game, my favourite game ever. The best representation of Wild West and an amazing sandbox game. The environment, the story, the side-missions, it is captivating and recommended to everyone who enjoys it's category. I just can't talk about it enough.

Mass Effect 2 - I find it to be superior to both the first and the third games, it felt like it was in the thick of the storyline. Gameplay wasn't better than the first game, a little worse actually, but I still enjoyed it very much. The only boring part was gathering resources but I found it to be very rewarding in the end.

Far Cry 3 - Beautiful world, feels like first-person Just Cause 2 but obviously with many differences. Very fun storyline, with very fun side-quests, such as taking down strongholds and hunting for rare animals was a blast.

Just Cause 2 - Like I mentioned while talking about Far Cry, Just Cause 2 is one of my all-time favourites. It is not a perfect game to be sure, but all the things I got to do, like hijacking jets mid-air (my favourite part) and shooting rockets while parachuting, there's so much to go around. The environment was designed nicely also.

Dead Space - First and second, first being my favourite of the series, is more than good enough to mention here on this blog. The first game was by far the best horror game I've ever played and the only one I'd care to mention. It was so heart-pounding throughout the whole game. I took my time before getting this game because I wasn't sure I'd cry like a wimp if I got startled but then I decided to give it a whirl and to my surprise, loved it.

Demon's Souls - I do not know why but I find that I like it more than the sequel, Dark Souls. I bought the game as soon as it came out. I tried it. I died so many times. I put it up on my shelf, and it stayed there for two years. One day I was desperate, because I just wanted to play a game but I didn't know what to play, so I thought I was going to try this game again. I did, this time I proceeded more cautiously throughout the game, and read strategy guides, got a spear and a shield, and beat the game. It had the best strategic-combat system I ever saw in a game and I enjoyed it thoroughly. I admit I was too lazy to proceed to New Game+ so that's where it ended.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas - I remember when I first got to play this game. I installed the game, I started playing and the first thing was... "I CAN RIDE A BIKE!?!?!? OH MY GOD THIS IS THE BEST GAME EVER!!!" and I don't think I even need to say anything about all the things we get to do for the entire rest of the game. So much fun...

Assassin's Creed II - This was a beautiful game. Just being in Italy during Reneissance, that was enough to glue my hands to my controller. Ezio, I guess he is my favourite protagonist ever, was so much fun to play as. With Italian dialogue implemented here and there, jumping on the rooftops of Venice and Florence, assassinating (or brutally murdering) people, it was one of a kind. The combat system I thoroughly enjoyed with every Assassin's Creed game (I kind of don't like the AC3's combat system). This is actually the only game I got a platinum trophy for, I guess I liked the scenery while collecting feathers...

BioShock Infinite - This game made the most of the first-person view aspect. It was very fluid and very fun to play, using vigors and shooting (sniping, I like sniping) people, but best of all, Columbia, that was one beautiful setting. I can't say much more, other than it completely blew my mind at the end. I recommend it to everyone.

Max Payne (All three) - This is I guess the best shooter game I know. The gritty world of Max Payne. Shooting hundreds of NPCs with so many bullets. The story I have to say isn't what got me to play these games, it was just the gameplay. Right-clicking bullet-time or diving everywhere to dodge bullets and shoot. Good old fun. Last game was a big deal for me because I really liked the design and it still was the best shooter ever. I briefly tried and enjoyed multiplayer but hackers got the best of me so I gave up on it.

Lastly...

Spider-Man (2000) - This was the first game I remember playing... I watched my cousin play this game and I played myself afterwards. Gamespot aptly says "A hero for a day". Back then it took me a lot longer to finish to be honest, I was very young what can I say. I enjoyed it so much. I used to ask my cousin to play it so I could watch him play. May not be the best game ever, but this is what got me started.

Gamers tracking my contributions -Top Game Developer Companies IMO-

Well, I don't know if you're making a mistake by tracking my contributions because I don't know if I am not good at this. I'll give you an example, should you read this.

-Rockstar-

This game developer company needs to fix nearly nothing. The games they have given us were always up-to-date with technology and they all were works of art made by people who are good at what they're doing and they're motivated. The only thing that I can find negative against these guys is their choice of platform, and, to be more precise, not making games for pc or delaying the pc versions. I didn't actually find this troubling because I have a PC and a PS3 so I didn't have the bad luck of not being able to play Red Dead Redemption or playing GTA IV a year later (well, maybe not a year but later). But these guys definitely know more than I do about such matters (duh!) so I leave the decision to them knowing that they will not disappoint.

-Ubisoft-

Assassin's Creed, Rayman, Splinter Cell, trademarks of this company and also trademarks of gaming. Sophisticated work at least, they had their let-down moments from time-to-time, for some people and sometimes not thinking parallel to gamers' anticipations but everyone runs out of ideas to make a concept better. All that said, there aren't many true gamers who haven't played Ubisoft's games and not enjoy them (not many kinda refers to none). Ubisoft is good at what it does and it should definitely keep on doing it and deliver us gamers some more awesome games.

-Bethesda Softworks-

I know what you're thinking... The Elder Scrolls. Taking arrows in the knee, butchering dragons, summoning daedra, living in a completely other world for hours in front of the screen, drooling and giving you people GOTY awards for your games. Enough with the compliments though. Let's stick'em with a few spears, however, their shield is Ebony, but I'll do my best. Bethesda's games of course, are not perfect, to tell the truth, not nearly perfect. There are bugs lying around corners, stuff that we want to see in the games but are not there, not agreeing with Bethesda's point of view, yeah, lots of things. But, they counter this massive spear throw with a great and simple tactic, let the players perfect their game, let them mod, and knock-out, I fall on the floor, not gonna get up. These people are smart, sophisticated, talented and most of all, have great imaginations. So, thanks to you guys, we prefer Tamriel over Earth, slaying dragons to bungee jumping and having our social life reduced to zero. I feel like I'm gonna cry, onto the next and last but not least developer...

-Naughty Dog-

I really hope memory serves right, Crash Bandicoot and Uncharted, one for the 5-15 year old me and the other for the 15-25 year old me. What a shame that my days with the good ol' Crash are over, but it also would be a shame if I wasn't in search of lost, and of course, 10 times cursed treasures with Nathan Drake and his buddy, Victor "Goddamn" Sullivan. I might be recalling wrong but inFamous is also a credit to Naughty Dog, but I might be mistaken (to be mistaken about this would be a huge dishonor to gamers) but I've been blogging since 5 30 in the morning and my brain is basically a mashed potato so do excuse me. Disappointed in rare occasions, Naughty Dog gave us some games to remember. Who hasn't enjoyed scaling walls and shooting people with Drake, running away from rolling boulders with Crash, and frying Reapers and infectious creatures with Cole? If you haven't done these, well, even if you're nearly broke, or have a great carreer opportunity in front of you, or you're supposed to meet a hot gal tomorrow night, get your self to a game store, buy these games play the sh*t out of them. Naughty Dog, we are your humble customers, and we'll keep enjoying the games you give us.

Well that's it, I hope you liked it (hope you read it) and have a nice weekend full of games!
