Young hearts are born with such grief

I haven't blogged in a fair while, but I'm extremely bored at the moment so I will post a little update.

There are two things that I think are important in life - Women and money. Women and money = happiness, I truly believe that and maybe I am a very shallow person for it. Now the problem I have is that I can't seem to sustain a meaningful relationship with a woman without it going up **** creek. In the past few months I've been with a few girls, which is fun and all but I want something more than that though it seems I'm incapable of it. As for money, well I'll be ****ed if I've seen any of that recently, apart from the odd sale on ebay here and there. This is the problem with being a skint student, I can't find a job, let alone hold one down that fits around my studies, and since I'm skint I can't really afford to have anything more with a girl than a bit of how's your father and a coffee in the morning.

I can foresee my life continuing like this for quite a while yet, but hopefully when I've finished university and found myself a decent job I can get my act together and settle down, here's hoping.

Well that occupied me for a few minutes, happy days!

Anyone else feel like their life is in a bit of a mess at the moment?

Going to the Lake District for a few days

Just a quick blog, I'm going up to the Lake District in Cumbria on Thursday, so I won't be around til Monday. It's gonna be a looong drive up there from London :P I'm gonna leave early, I want to get onto the M6 and past Birmingham before the rush hour, and hopefully I'll get up to Manchester after rush hour haha. The drive should take me about 6 or 7 hours.

For those of you not familiar with the geography of England (I'm thinking of my American pals here :P) the Lake District is at the very northwest of England, close to the border of Scotland, it's a very beautiful place with lot's of mountains, and of course lakes, so I should have some great pics when I get back.

In other news, I went in for an interview with a local college today and it went very well, hopefully they will get back to me soon and tell me that I'll be studying with them in September :D

Oh England...

Yet another disappointing world cup match, we couldn't even beat Algeria, how can we be expected to progress further than the group, let alone the knockout stages? Rooney is taking bad touches, Lampard can't seem to keep the ball and the rest of team aren't playing well anyway. I hope we won't exit the competition early, but as usual we are under performing at a world cup.

I'm also feeling a bit depressed lately, I've had to fork out £150 on my car to get the exhaust repaired, something I can barely afford. I have something to look forward to in July, I'll keep thinking of that to keep my mind off the fact that I'm skint.

I haven't really got a lot to say, so I'll stop it there.

In The Forest

I went into the forest today and took some photos, this blog isn't really about much but for me to show off my photography and the beautiful Ashridge forest in south east England:

This first one is not too far in, but at the moment there are bluebell flowers everywhere which sort of carpets the forest in blue this time of year

This one is my attempt at recreating the album cover for Burzum's Belus :P

This one is a bit artsy, I had to lay on the ground for this

This is some weird mushroom thing I found growing on a tree

This is a pic of a big field that is in the middle of the forest, I sometimes see a herd of deer here as well as in the forest itself

These next two are just of a few huge trees

I am quite pleased with these, I spent about 4 hours in the forest and I think these are about the best photos I took, but unfortunately I didn't see any deer. I'll have to go back at the very crack of dawn if I want to see some deer.

Getting excited for the world cup!

The first England match is only a few weeks away, and I can't wait for it! We are playing the USA in our first match, which statistically will be our toughest match in the group stages. Then we have Algeria and Slovenia to play, hopefully we can win these three matches with relative ease, especially since we are one of the favourites to win the tournament :P (though we seem to be favourite every world cup and never make the final... *sigh*).

But this time I think we have a fantastic chance of winning, yes we are without David Beckham unfortunately, but if we can keep the likes of Rooney, Gerrard, Lampard etc, fit then we have a great chance.

Ok, oh gawd I can't wait! :P

That's all for now, I'll probably be blogging a lot more once the tournament starts in a few weeks :P

Oh one more thing, I am currently using a new sig designed by Darth-Caedus (best designer on gs imo :D), until the end of the tournament to show my support for my kin. Come on England!!

Glory Glory Man United!

The best (or rather most enjoyable) football match I have seen in a while took place last night. Manchester United vs AC Milan. Of course Milan were terrible, Beckham was easily their best player on the night, putting in some great balls into the box, and a great volly he almost scored. Man U on the other hand were great, Nani and Valencia performing well down the wing, Ji-Sung Park as always providing some great movement all over the pitch, and of course, Wayne Rooney, probably the best footballer in the world at the moment, get's two goals to take him to 30 so far this season. 4-0 the score in the end to United, well deserved and a great watch.

Now some of you may know that really I am a Liverpool fan, but when it comes to the European games I am always going to support the English teams. The good news is (for me at least :P) that the English teams seem to have been the most dominating in the last few years in Europe. Of course there is Barca, but Man U could make it three consecutive finals in a row this year, and I hope they do. I am backing Manchester United to win the UEFA Champions League this year :D

One more thing before I end this blog. I am very much looking forward to the weekend. This is because the new Formula 1 season starts, and it is going to be awesome :D Schumacher returns, Alonso in a Ferrari and Jenson Button at Mclaren. This could be the best season yet.

I don't know how many of you follow European football or F1, but maybe you should if you don't already :P

End of blog.

My Top 5 Albums of 2009

I'm very bored at the moment so I will try and make a list of my top 5 albums released last year. I own all of these on cd by the way.

5. Wodensthrone - Loss

Band's country: England

Genre: Atmospheric Black Metal

Lyrical themes: Nature, Ancient Britain, Heathenism

It really makes me happy to know that England has started to produce some really top quality black metal, with bands such as Winterfylleth, Fen, Oakenshield et cetera, and of course Wodensthrone. This album is focused on the ancient ways of heathen Britain before the christianization of Europe. Atmosphere is the main word here, and they create one hell of an atmosphere with their music. Recorded in Romania with Negura music (fans of Negura Bunget should be interested in this album). I recommend to anyone who is a fan of black metal with intense atmosphere. Here is a song from the album:

Heofungtid

4. Glittertind - Landkjenning

Band's country: Norway

Genre: Folk Metal

Lyrical themes: Nordic history

Since I am a bit of a history geek this band appeals to me greatly. Ok the lyrics are in norwegian, but it's the overall album that really appeals to me. The booklet that comes with the cd is stuffed with interesting facts and tales about norwegian history from the viking age, the music reflects that in a way that combines traditional norwegian folk melodies with metal. A couple of songs off the album:

Longships and Mead

Landkjenning

3. Wardruna - Runaljod Gap Var Ginnunga

Band's country: Norway

Genre: Ambient/Folk

Lyrical themes: Norse paganism, the runes.

This is a really amazing album, infact I cannot really describe how much I adore this album. The music is created outside, by rivers, in forests, all the sounds you hear have been taken from nature, and the memory of the old norse runemasters is forever with you once you listen to this. The instruments are all handmade, and the music has a very organic sound because of this. Passion, atmosphere, and something that will take you away to the deep forests of Norway. Wardruna is the creation of ex Gorgoroth drummer Einar Kvitrafn Selvik, and those familiar with Gorgoroth will recognise that Gaahl is also on vocal duties here. I highly recommend this to anyone who likes ambient music. I will post a few songs from the album:

Bjarkan

Laukr

Hagal

2. Nokturnal Mortum - The Voice Of Steel

Band's country: Ukraine

Genre: Pagan Metal

Lyrical themes: Slavic paganism/folklore.

This album was released at the very end of 2009, December 26th to be exact. I managed to locate the album on ebay, and have owned it for about 3 weeks. I have listened to it almost non stop :P This is one of those albums that is near perfect in my opinion. Here are a couple of songs from the album for your enjoyment:

Voice Of Steel

By Path of the Sun

1. Manegarm - Nattvasen

Band's country: Sweden

Genre: Viking/Black Metal

Lyrical themes: Heritage, Paganism, Viking history.

And my top album of 2009 is Manegarm's Nattvasen. I have been a big fan of this band for quite a while now, and this album came just at the right time. Released in November, this continues Manegarms strong run of form, and they are in my opinion one of the best metal bands around at the moment. Listen for yourself:

Vetrarmegin

Nattvasen

Delling

Thanks for reading.

When England turned into Iceland

From what I can tell watching the news and looking out my window, most of England has been covered in a good 4 to 8 inches of snow. Absolutely beautiful to look at, and luckily I didn't have to go into work today. Apparently it's going to snow more tonight, so I could be putting on my walking boots to go into work tomorrow :P

Not sure what the weather is like in Scotland, but I'm guessing not too different, and I'm sure Denny will tell me :P

I have inherited the leadership of The Wings of Truth and Lies Union

Well I have been instated as the new leader of The Wings of Truth & Lies Union. It was a really active union that I was an officer for, and unfortunately the leader got banned a few months ago. So there was a leadership election and I was chosen to take over, but gamespot seemed to take forever to actually make the change, and now I finally have the leadership of the union.

The union is basically for anyone who is interested in the supernatural, horror, the occult, spirituality, magick, mythology et cetera, so if you're interested in any of those things I'd appreciate it if you joined :D

I'm going to take this opportunity to advertise my other union (this was one that I created a few months ago), The Folklore and Fantasy Union

Fairly self explanitory this one, if you've got any interest in folklore, fantasy, mythology, paganism/heathenism, tolkien and such then please join it :)

Well thanks for reading, and I hope you join my unions if you haven't already :P
