Near tragedy

~*~*~*~Because of the different symptoms and behaviors each person with Autism exhibits, it is called a Spectrum Disorder~*~*~*~

Well, as you can tell in my blog title it is not going to be a very happy blog. Today one of the guys (Dweese) who works with Robbie (on the same shift) at the Police Dept. and his 2 young daughters got run over by a car in the K-Mart parking lot. Thank the Lord it was not fatal but serious. Dweese had to be air lifted to the hospital about an hour drive away and his 2 daughters went via ambulance. Apparently some lady backed up and literally ran over them. Dweese was pinned under the car as well as 1 of his daughters. We don't know all the details as of yet (Dweese being drugged for pain and all) but he was coherant and all. They think he broke several ribs and has 2nd degree burns on his hands and arms. Kennedy broke her collarbone and Haley fractured her pelvis. I just cannot imagine how Kendra (the wife & mom) felt getting the phone call. I heard they had to sedate her at the hispital but who knows if that detail is true or not. You know how things get all changed up when stories start circulating. I wanted to ask if y'all could keep them in your parayers and thoughts over the next few days? Thanks!!!!!

Well, I watched the Law & Order CI finale last night and it was "just OK". Right now I am watching American Idol and getting my Blake fix (LUUUUUUVVVVVVVVVV HIM!!!!!!!) and then later I am gonna watch Law & Order SVU. I love Marishka Hargetay and Chris Malonie (I know, I know, I totally butchered the spelling!)

Well, I gotta try and get the kiddies to bed, I will blop on by later and check out everyone's blogs! C ya later!!!!!

God Bless

Finales

*~*~*~ Boys are more likely to have Autism than girls~*~*~*~

Hello everyone! Sorry I haven't blogged in a few but things here are (as usual) CRAZY!!!!!!!!!:x Last time I was here we were getting ready to go out to eat with my cousins. We had a blast and the sad thing is (and here you can tell we're gettin' old!) we were home before 10:00 P.M. Sad huh? But, we had a blast and the girls had fun satying at mom's. Not much new going on here. School is almost out so I have to figure out a way to keep the kids entertained for 2 1/2 months. Any ideas from any of my mom (or dad) friends???????? :cry:HELP!!!!

As you can tell by my blog title, I have been watching all the finales the past few days. Some were great. Desperate Housewives, I nearly crapped my pants, if you'll excuse me! CSI was great but CSI:Miami not so great. E.R. was pretty decent. Obviously Lost hasn't been on yet but I am sorda gettin' over that show. Medium and Crossing Jordan were just O.K. Both law & Order C.I. and S.V.U. are on tomorrow so we'll see. And of course my guilty pleasure, American Idol. I gotta say when Melinda got voted off I was ShOcKeD! I LOVE Blake but I never in a million years thought he'd be in the final 2. I hope he wins!!!

Well, we are getiin ready for our annual yard sale and my house is a total disaster and I am trying to get the kiddies in bed! Early day tomorrow!!!! Chesney has to miss school (and that is gonna cause a major meltdown) she has a cough that keeps us all up at night so I am gonna take her to the doc.

Hope everyone has a great week and I'll hopefully see y'all tomorrow!!!!!

God Bless

Feels like Monday

^*^*^*^ Albert Einstein, Vincent VanGogh, Benjamin Franklin and Mozart are said to be Autistic (I guess it's a good thing they weren't "cured" huh?)^*^*^*^

For some reason today it feels like Monday.  Maybe because I usually do laundry on Monday and I have spent the WHOLE DAY doing laundry!

:twisted:AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SO sorry, had to be done!

Well, I hope everyone has great plans for this weekend! I DO!!!!! We finally got a babysitter (thanks to good ole' mom!). Me and Robbie are going out with my cousin Nikke and her husband Brent (he works at P.D. w/ Robbie). WE are going to The Melting Pot in Knoxville. I have never been there but I hear it's great. It's a fondue restaruant. And the best part is.............. Nikke is renting us all a LIMO!!!!!!!!!!! That way nobody has to worry about be the designated driver. I am so psyched!!!! Do y'all have any idea how long it's been since I have been out like that? I went out few months ago w/ mom & Nikke but Robbie & I never get to go out together.  I get to actually go out on a date with my husband. Yah for me!!!!!!!!!

This morning Ches had her "Transition to Kindergarten Meeting". All we went well. To be honest, when she started Trula Lawson (the school) we didn't think she'd be ready to go  regular Kindergarten but they feel she is. That school has been a God send.  I hate to see her leave that school but I know she must move on. Her teacher got teary eyed and made me promise to bring her back by to visit. But, I will be working there so it won't be too hard.

Well, I guess I had better get off here for a bit. I can hear the girls in there raising hell and it's past their bedtime so I have got to get them calmed down. Hope to talk to y'all soon!!!!!

God Bless

She won! Beat everyone in her whole school!!!

~^~^~^~ MORE CHILDREN ARE DIAGNOSED WITH  AUTISM THAN CHILDHOOD CANCER, MS AND CEREBRAL PALSY COMBINED ~^~^~^~

Hello all! First off, does everyone like my new banner and icon? Those are pictures that I took myself! Those were taken a long time ago. Then newer ones are much better.

Anyway, as for the title of my blog... few mnths ago the banks in our county sponsered a Piggy Bank contest. Usually only Kindergarten & up get to enter but this year they let pre-schools enter too. Well, Chesney won!:D Out of everyone who enter the contest in her entire school, ches won! It was the cutest piggy bank, if I do say so myself! We took a milk jug and painted it pink. Then we glued pink Cotton balls all over it. We slit a hole in the top for the money. We made the lid of the milk jug the nose. We added ears and big "googley" eyes. And since Ches wanted it to be a princess piggy, we glued a rhinestone tiara on her head. Add a pink curly pipe cleaner as the tail a we're done! And, she won $100.00!!!!! Can you believe that! We get to go to the Teacher of the Year banquet tonight where she gets to go up on stage and they present her with a check and some kind of award. I am so excited! She is too! She tells everyone she sees that she won! I have  pic of it but I have no idea how to add pics to my blog.

Well, I hope everyone is having a great day! I guess I had better go for now! I gotta find something to wear tonight and get the kids ready!  I will try and blop on by later!!!!!!

God Bless

Carrie

I couldn't find the Piggy Bank picture so I put in this picture of the kid's cake Robbie & I made for their birthday this past January. Sorry it's so big, but how do ya like my Spongebob Cake????? (at least now I knw how to make pictures in my blog!) (thanks llyanaRVS)

My baby's goin' to Kindergarten

*^*^* 1 in every 150 children have Autism *^*^*

I can't believe that my middle baby, Chesney will be going to Kindergarten  We went this morning for her to have her screening. She scored 67 out of 100. Her teacher said that is the average. There were several things that she should have known and maybe if she knew the person giving her the test she might have answered differently. Plus, she woke up in "a mood" this morning. Robbie said this morning she would have a bad day and so far she has. Several meltdowns and SCREAMING her head off at any given moment. Anyway, I just hope they put her with a teacher who knows how to handle special needs kids. Otherwise we will be changing her teacher. I worry about the transition to "regular school". First off, she hates any kind of change. Second, kids can be cruel. And the way she flapps her hands is not hard to ignore. We were at the park a few months ago and some little girls called her a retard and asked if she did that with her hands "cause she was crazy. Can you imagine!!!???? I was livid! It took all I had not to slap the **** out of that little brat. And she was older than Caleb (11) so she knew better! Oh well... what can ya do!!!???

So how everyone's Moday been? Mine has been typical Monday. One of my teeth (that had been filled in the past) broke in half today. So, needless to say I am not to happy about that! On a good note, I went and finalized all my paper work to become a substitute teacher. I will sub only at Chesney's school and in the fall I will become a Teaching Assistant. I am so excited. Madi will be in the Pre-K program or the Peer Model program and Ches will be in Kindergarten, so I will finally get to go back to work. I love staying at home but I also miss adult conversation and having friends aside from "Veggietales" and "Max & Ruby"!!

Hope everyone is having a great day! Oh, is there anyone who can make me a new banner? I would love to have one with the Autism Puzzle Pieces and maybe some stats or something like that. If anyone can please just PM me and I will let you know what I'd like. I'd really appreciate it (especially since I have no idea how to make one myself!!!!!!)

Have a great night!

God Bless

Carrie

How's your weekend?

I just wanted to see how everyone's weekend is going so far? Mine has been pretty good. The girls and I spent most of the day going to yard sales and things like that. Buying a bunch of crap I don't need but of course cannot live without! We spent part of the afternoon sitting in a drizzle of rain watching Haley's (Caleb's girlfriend) soccer game. He spent the entire day there with her and he has been on the phone with her for over 4 hours!!!!!! AH, to be young again! Robbie worked today and now he is over at one of his friends house playing poker (hopefully winning me some $$$$).

I have a favor to ask of you all... I have a cousin who is 25 and she is in the hospital and I need everyone to say a prayer for her. She has been sick most of her adult life. She was a heathly girl growing up and then when she went to college she started having seizures. They finally found out she has Lupus and Chrone's (spelling??) disease. She weighs about 70 pounds ( and she is like 5'9", so you can imagine how she looks) but they had her in the ICU a few weeks ago and normally she refuses to let anyone in the family to see her but she knows she's dying so she had requested the family come. She got a wee bit better and now she has blood clots in both legs, an infection in her heart, she can't even eat and is being given baby formula. She is listed as critical. So, if you all could just say a liitle prayer for her it would mean a lot to me!

I am sure some of you are wondering about my turn in religion??? (For those who don't know before I was exploring Wicca) I was raised Baptist, but got away from it as I got older. Then I started doing to exploring and discovered Wicca. Well, on September 30 (of last year) Chesney gave us a scare. She came and got in bed w/ us about 6 in the morning, and all was fine. A few minutes later she made a noise like she was going to be sick so I told Robbie to carry her to living room (as I'm sure most of you know puke is easier to clean off the floor than a matress!). As he was walking thru the hallway w/ her we both said "Something's wrong" She was totally stiff and her face was gray and her lips blue. Her eyes were wide open and unresponsive. We put her down on the couch and we thought maybe she was choking so we tried to sweep her mouth but her jaw was locked 100%. We were screaming in her face and she was looking right thru us. Robbie yelled for me to call 911 so I ran and got the phone and just stood there w/ it. He grabbed the phone and called them. While he was on the phone with them her head turned sideways and started jerking and white foam came out of her mouth and I screamed for him to tell 911 that I thought she was having a seizure. Turns out she did. I realizeed that the entire time all this went on (and it went on for over 10 minutes) that I had been praying. Without even realizing that I was doing it at the time I turned back to the person who was waiting for me to come back to Him. I know it sounds kinda hokey but it's true. We found out she has epilepsy and they said it was a miracle the she didn't suffer any brain damage because it lasted so long. She had to go the Children's Hospital in an ambulance and she was not happy about that!!!!! But, that moment was probably THE MOST TERRIFYING moment in my life and I don't EVER want to feel that way again! But, I just wanted to explain so those of you who know me didn't think I was some kind of flake who was doing Wicca to be "cool" or whatever.

Well, it's getting late and I need to see if I can get Caleb and Haley off the phone!!! Hope y'all have a great Sunday tomorrow! I am getting up and making French Toast. :)YUMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)

God Bless

Autism Awareness month!

Hello again! For those who don't know it April is AUTISM AWARENESS MONTH. I, as most of you already know, have a wonderful 5 year old daughter (just 1 of my 3!). Chesney is so smart. She loves to do art, she loves her mommy & daddy & her brother and sister. She loves spaghetti & meatballs. She is beautiful and has the most gorgeous smile. And she has Autism. For the most part, she "looks" like a normal 5 year old. But, she will never be normal. I have discovered that one of the hardest things I have ever had to do in my life is to watch my daughter slip away before my eyes. And KNOWING that I can't do a damn thing about it makes it even harder.

I thought that I might post a few fact and things like that on Autism so you can get an idea. I will also list some websites so you can get some info on your own.

* Autism is a developmental disorder that impacts normal development of the of the brain in the areas of social interaction and communication skills.

* Because of different symptoms and behaviors each person with Autism shows, it is called a spectrum disprder.

* 1 in 150 children have Autism.

* More children have Autism than childhood Cancer, MS, and Cerebral Palsy COMBINED!!!

* Boys are more likely to have it than girls, however it seems to affect girls more severly.

* some symptoms are hand flapping, obsessive or repetitive behavior. spinning objects. little or no speech by 18 month (babbling).  Severe meltdowns (a temper tantrum times 1 million) THERE ARE SO MANY MORE BUT TOO MANY TO LIST. AND EACH CHILD CAN SHOW DIFFERENT SYMPTOMS

*Not all children with Autism are like Rainman.

*There is no cure for Autism but some children can improve.

*~*~*~ There is obviously much more but too much to print.. Here are some websites or you can google Autism and so many great ones come up!

I am still here

Hello all! I just wanted to drop in and say hi! I haven't been online in a long time. We have had so much going on here lately. Things have been getting worse with Chesney (for those who don't know, she is my 5 year old who has Autism) so we have had our hands full.

I was shocked and sorry to here about Drea and I apologize for not letting everyone know that. Her family and freinds are in my prayers.

I hope this blog will post (I tried to post a few months ago but I couldn't). Hopefully all my friends are still out there and haven't forgotten about me! I have missed y'all so much!

God Bless
