Pitfall the Lost Expedition is a good long game, and it's a good game to play for those who are familiar with Pitfall.
The game begins when Pitfall Harry and his group of archaeologists were in a plane, showers and thunderstorms occured. Then a lightning strike hit the wing of a plane and then they went crashing down in South America. Pitfall Harry can use attack moves on his enemies, you can get new moves, extra health and so forth by finding Shamans all over the world, and you have to buy them with the idols you find throughout the levels. The inventory, hints, and journals are featured in the game, although it may be a waste of time reading through various creatures and Pitfall's journal entries. The gameplay is basic, and pretty easy to learn. Pitfall can use some useful items in his quest, you recieve them during you progress in the game such as the Native shield, slingshot, and gas mask.
The downside of this game is that it feels that you are doing the levels pretty much random. You surpass one area of the map, but you have to return to it later because you didn't have a special ability or a particular item to find new things in that level.
You can also play the original Pitfall game. This game brings back memories to my first Adventure game on the Atari 2600. The graphics are the same like on the Atari 2600 along with the sound effects. Looking at the original Pitfall game now, the graphics look primitive, prehistoric, or nostalgic. Pitfall The Lost Expedition is a fun good game worth playing, especially for those who are familiar with early 80's game.
