A pretty bad Adventure game.
Pac-Man 2 is a horrible Real-time Adventure games the fails in almost every category.
Sound and Music are inconsistent. They will be loud and one point, and quiet another. The sound cues which in a lot of cases are NEEDED are randomly off, and at times you will get the wrong sound effect for a preformed action.
The main gameplay is that you have a slingshot at the bottom of the screen that shoots small pellets you would see in Pac-man/Ms.Pac-man. It is the primary way to control Pac-man.
Pac-man will walk along either left or right in an "area" that scrolls a bit. Once he gets to the end of an area he walks into another part of Pac-mans "world" very slowly. The object of the game actually is not really clear as you play the game. The plot randomly changes to something different around the half-way point to distract you from why Pac-man left the house in the first place.
Occasionally as you are walking though the town/city/house/alley/fields/etc. You will end up running into Ghosts or other object that may and at times WILL require you to shoot a BIG power pellet into Pac-Mans mouth. One will turn into SUPER PAC-MAN and he will have a cape.
He then will proceed to make you vomit with fast scrolling that is much worse in this SNES version of the game in random circles occasionally clearing out the object that are in your way. The only place to get these pellets are select areas. the first being the tree next to Pac-mans house which if not mistaken is the only place where you can get 3 at a time. As you can only carry 3 of them.
Other gameplay elements are largely trial and error. you might have to shoot something off the pathway before Pac-man walks into it. Get killed by a dog, and then realize you have to shoot something before hand to prevent that from happening, and tons of other irritating obstacles.
The Emotion system is very very very stupid. Pac-man can be extremely happy, Extremely mad, or sad. Sad, which makes him move SLOWER, and Angry, which can be partially beneficial to clear certain obstacles, or create more hidden trial and error deaths. And very happy which actually makes you have the least amount of control over him in a lot of situation. Mad and Sad being the only one that are easy to cause without a circumstance can both happen randomly by just shooting regular pellets at Pac-man which you will probably end up doing.
The game is a very barebones repetitive Adventure like game that is filled with trial and error deaths and not real clear reason what you are even trying to do. It's very annoying with failing sound cues and sounds in general. The music will often randomly start to break up as well.
It is best to stay away from the game unless you like to put yourself through the worst.
