This game shares a few similarities with the old games, but you'll be scratching your head as to why EA took out some of the best parts. The original Blitz was an arcade game, and as such, it had bright graphics and loud, in-your-face sound effects that helped it stand out. EA's Blitz, on the other hand, obviously never was an arcade game, because much like Madden, there are moments in the game when the stadium is inexplicably silent (the only possible reason I can imagine this being the case in any football game is because the football game was programmed by someone who has never seen a football game before). The bone-crunching sounds and smart-ass commentators? Nowhere to be found.
Even the gameplay feels lacking. It's Blitz tainted by Madden. Even the player models look like Madden players, rather than the ridiculous, goosed-up guys that Blitz is supposed to have. I guess the game doesn't know what it wants to be. 3.0 is a ridiculously low score, but I don't know what else to give this game because it's just not any fun. Try the demo. It's the same game minus a couple teams. Play it for a minute and you'll thank me for not wasting your money.
