Addictive, but frustrating at times.
What is amazing about this game is the multiplayer part : you can invite up to 4 people in the game and work up your way to the top. Although, there is certain items you can obtain only when you play online, or only when you play offline. So you have to play both modes.
The only thing lacking in my opinion is a target lock on: very often I find myself swinging my hammer in thin air, or hitting one of my team mates. ( Which by the way, does not deal damage ).
Some of the hunts are very difficult and frustrating as well : In order to advance though hunter ranks, you have to complete a special mission. Example : at level 8, you have to defeat or capture a monster named Barroth in order to reach rank 9 and a higher tier of hunts. Barroth is very difficult in the begining because he's fast and hits very hard, so your character is too weak to defeat it without spending an hour hunting it constantly, and you cannot progress because you stay stuck at rank 8.
Otherwise, there is a nice selection of weapons : Sword and Shield, Axe, Great Sword, Hammer, Lance and Guns/Crossbows. Each and every weapon type have different affinities to them and your character gets special abilities. Example : the Sword and Shield is a fast weapon, but deal less damage than a Hammer, but in return, the hammer is a lot slower to wield.
There is also a lot to do in the game : you get a total of 5 different tier of missions, which is approximately 70 to 80 quests total, as well as special online event. Infinite possibilities.
If you like games with a lot of challenge and with good humor, this is the game for you.
