Sorta like Mario in first-person- but really, really HARD. Not for everybody, but a very unique experience.
User Rating: 7.5 | Mirror's Edge PS3
Mirror's edge is a good game. Unless you enjoy repeating time trials over and over to shave those last few seconds off your score, or want to keep looking for every one of the bags, in which case you should go get this right now. For the rest of us, however, Mirror's Edge is a fun game at first, but can wear off after the thirteenth time you've jumped between buildings in first-person, or after the bajillionth time you've fallen to your doom. I'm not saying this is a bad game, though. The graphics are amazing, with the stark-white cityscapes contrasting against the loud red beams of wood and such that the game marks out for you. Which brings me to gameplay. As stated above, Mirror's edge has some exhilarating moments, some tense moments, and some moments that will make you throw the controller on the floor, if you have bad self-control. To give you an idea of what this is like, take an example of gameplay.
Jump to another building-Land on building, forget to skill roll, slow down a bit-Climb up radiator, hop to another radiator-Jump to pole, miss pole, fall, die-Restart, this time catch the pole, jump too early, fall, die-Miss the pole again, fall, die- You get the point.
However, there are some moments that will make you go HOLY CRAP I JUST DID THAT????? or make you wipe your brow in relief. For me, the story mode was really all I could get out of this, but for 20 bucks, it was sort of worth my money.
In short, download the demo or rent it first.
