The visuals, car selection and tuning options are pretty awesome. It doesn't take you long to unlock stuff but there's a catch: It's tidious. The races are just unexciting and boring and you find yourself looking online for a cheat to unlock all the upgrades and cars, but there isn't any. Seriously. I had this game for about a week and traded it 'cause I was that bored with it. The AI is a little too perfect and you'll probably find yourself just doing the easy highway races for most of the game simply because you don't really care about anything else other than unlocking cars and parts.
LA is beautifully modelled, when it rains, the water pools in the potholes and ruts until they spill over into the street. Like I said the visuals are absolutely amazing. The best modeling of LA in a racing game period. However, LA isn't exciting enough to make me keep this game.
a 3 out of 5. (I would say rent it, but you'd need more time than that.)
