The best Mega in his series
User Rating: 8.4 | Rockman 2: Dr. Wily no Nazo NES
This game was the best in a long line of titles. I liked Mega man frim his first title but didnt know what to make of him at first. I thought that you picked a robot and became that robot and fought the other. It kind of mad me angry when I picked a cool looking robot and only got this blue thing keep coming onscreen. Then it hit me this is the robot your suppose to fight with. Well at the time I didnt have an instruction book as I was borrowing the game from a nieghbor and just wanted to play. I also didnt know how awesome this little blue robot was. I played and loved it. Then this sequel came out. I like most of the other games but for some reason this sequel spoke and still speaks to me as the greatest of his games. It tell the now ongoing story of a little blue huminoid Mega Man and his fight against the evil Dr Wiely. Mega Man must battle hordes of minion robots to reach the boss bot of each stage. Each boss is appropriately named for his power such as wood man or metal man. You defeat each robot in no particular order and then face Wiely. The game has great use of color sounds and the graphics were top notch in its time and still does a great job today. The music in this game is outstanding. I can still hum evey tune of this old school favorite. The Crach man stage in particular is the best. The good thing about the gameplay is that its so openended and challeging. With Mega man you didnt need a difficulty level because by beating the robots in a certain order and obtaining their weapons it would make the next robot that much easier by using the preivious robots weapon on them. They also introduced a few things in this titile such as the energy can and the devices that helped him get to certain areas. While not the most innovative in the series it spoke to me more than any other. This one above the rest felt more satisfying, It had more of a story, and the ending brought me a tear of joy. When the game was over you felt like it was worth it. The special powers that you gain from each robot transfered well and the castle of wielys wasnt as hard as the first one. Half the fun is figuing out what weapon to use on what robot. This game was old school and retro at the same time. Its one off those title that can show you what gaming is about, were its been, and were it was headed. Do yourself a favor and if you dont still have a NES pick it up on the PS2 along with all of his other good titles. If your old school youll love this game.
