The mix of classic Kirby gameplay with Metroidvania kind of exploration has great results
GRAPHICS:
The 2D style of the game is classic Kirby, and looks really good, minor a few areas that look a bit repetitive. 4.5/5
SOUND:
While the sound effects are great, the music is a bit too cute, as with most Kirby games, but still pretty good. 4/5
GAMEPLAY:
The game is a 2D plataformer. You play as Kirby, having to retrive 9 pieces of a mirror so you can stop the bad guy. It silly, but then again, it is Kirby. The game is at the same time classic Kirby, where you swallow your enemies to get their powers, but it alsok mixes the formula by being non linear. It is very similar to the Metroidvania games, as there are a lot of areas that you have to go and there is an end, but you can choose when to explore the area. Surprisingly, this is a great choice, since it makes the game a bit more lengthy, and exploring areas is always cool. The game could take you as little as 3 hours or less if you know where everything is to 15 if you want to explore. As kirby, you go though 9 different worlds, defeating bosses and grabing their shard of the mirror, so you can defeat the final boss. As always, the game is a pushover, being really easy, exept for the final fight, which can be quite chalenging. Swallowing your enemies to get their power ups is always cool, and there are some new ones, most notably the Smash power, which makes kirby use his abilities from Super Smash Bros Melee, which is really cool. Exploring all the worlds can take quite a while, and you can find hidden pieces of music, different colors for Kirby and artwork. Also new for the franchise was co-op in the handheld, as up to 4 players could be playing the game togheter, if all had the cartigde and the link cable. If you are not playing with friends, 3 other AI controled Kirbies will be roaming around the world, and you can call them toi help you, but their AI is pretty bad, and they don't really help much. 4.8/5
