A great idea with great mechanics but sadly falls short in some areas. May contain minor spoilers.
So, starting with the good. The graphics are nice, not the best i've seen, but nice enough to enjoy the game without being negatively distracted by them.
Next, definitely my favourite and most enjoyable part of the game is how you choose to combat/avoid your enemies. Some people will be innocent, simply just trying to defend their territory in a world gone mad scenario and by simply holding your hands up and moving on, the situation is diffused and you go about your business.
Then you have thugs that are looking for trouble and will try to hurt you if you do not defend yourself. So a situation arises and you have to think fast on how the best way to deal with the enemies, are there certain ones that look like they're the ring leaders? Do any of them have guns? How best can I take them out without having to waste bullets?
These are all questions you have to ask yourself in split second thinking and by far is the most fun part of this game.
This is something I've wanted to be implemented into games for so long. The fact that these enemies aren't just mindless NPCs, they care whether they live or die and the fact that you have a gun means they won't just mindlessly attack.
Sadly for me then it goes downhill, as arguably the next biggest part of the game is the climbing. This can get really frustrating at times because as you climb, your stamina bar decreases slowly and once depleted, you will let go and fall to your death. There are things to help give you an energy boost and to give you a rest by taking the weight off your hands. These are meant to be tension building mechanics but for me fall flat to just being annoying.
Then theres the most annoying part for me, because of the amount of destruction there is in the world now, the dust covers most ground areas that slowly decrease your stamina then your health until you die. This along with hardly being able to see due to the dust, can leave you wandering around not knowing where to go, slowly dying and just leaves you rather irritated.
So to summarise, the gun play in the game is great, a breath of fresh air for me at least as I've not played a game that utilises these mechanics in a game yet . Sadly, the game is hindered by the stamina bar decreasing as you climb and traverse the dusty main lands as it leaves you feeling rushed almost all the time and no chance to simply enjoy the game. However I would recommend this game to a friend because although the bad is bad, the good makes up for it.
Oh and you get to use a bow. I love bows.
