So, first off I have to say, as a halo fan, this game is rubbish and not worth however much it costs where you live, $60 or less. As someone who is new to halo I would say that while the game is not worth over 30 it would maybe be worth the purchase otherwise. The gameplay is sound, and although it does take on a Call of Duty like system it is still halo at its core. The gameplay is taken down a bit by a few graphical glitches here and there and the inferior accuracy of a controller but overall it is alright. The guns all work fine and animations TEND to run smoothly although I do notice a slight degrade since previous halos. The sound is great but could certainly be better. Graphically I do not see much improvement from halo 4 but considering how realistic graphics are getting it's hard to imagine how they could improve on them. The story is not overly amazing, although I have seen this argued both ways the majority (including myself) tend to see the story as weak. It does have it's good and bad points. As it has been pointed out to me there are some subtle story points, I personally never noticed much storywise but I realise that I am not the best at reading stories and interpreting them as what they want to be rather than what they are so on so forth. However I have realised that if you go at an extremely slow pace your squadmates start Talking about their history, but most of the time it just seems like a poor attempt at character development such as vale casually mentioning how she can speak sangheili or tanaka explaining that her world was glassed. Potential spoilers It does have some good points, the end is great BUT the rest of the game doesn't deserve it, when chief goes AWHOL (forgive me if I spelt that wrong) that certainly feels like a strong point. But overall the story seems average and boring, exuberant witness just seems like a 343 guilty spark knock off placed in the game to try cheer up older fans and the arbiter is not fully utilised as a character and only appears near the very end. Lets not forget the "hunt the truth" campaign that was completely false, there is knew cutscene fight between Locke and chief and that's it, GJ. I also seem to remember them saying there would be 1 chief mission for every Locke mission, 3 out of 15 were with chief. A lot of people hate on the pick up system but personally, as someone who has no friends who own halo, the squad AI are too stupid to stay alive long enough to save you anyway. My biggest down on the game is the warden eternal. 7 boss fights (3 of which are at the same time) and all of one boss. He is extremely cheap, basically a giant soldier with a single generic weak spot on the back, all of his attacks are insta-kill (except for the eye laser which only kills instantly on legendary) And of course the generic spawns little enemies mechanic so he is pretty much unstoppable on legendary because even crawlers mow you down. While the story is mainly boring and the boss sucks, gameplay is sound and the multiplayer is pretty fun so I have to give a 6
