"In the End, there will be only a magnificent game." That's right Kratos has returned and is badass.
Graphics- The graphics in this game were amazing. I can't believe how amazing the graphics were. The gore bordered on disturbing. Pull out Helios' head and watch the arterries move back and forth, Gut a Centaur and see how much blood you get all over you, pull out a cyclops' eye and watch as the optic nerve snaps when you yank it out. Biggest point here is, as for a video game the graphics are probably one of the best I've ever seen.
Storyline-Here's the loophole in this game for newcomers. DON'T PLAY THE GAME UNLESS YOU'VE PLAYED THE FIRST TWO. The story has a lot to do with what happens in the first game and the second game. You are Kratos, marching with the Titans to Mt. Olympus in order to kill all the Gods and your own father...Zeus. This won't be easy and later in the game Kratos is forced to face Titans. It becomes a crazy and somewhat twisty store. The game in the beginning is filled with twists I never even saw coming not making this a bad thing though.
Gameplay-The gameplay is basically the same from the first two but with some awesome new tweaks and things that make the game easier. First, you no longer have to go into the "Upgrade Screen" to switch what secondary weapon you want. It's just there. You have four main weapons in the game, with one weapon that you only use when you activate "Rage of Sparta," similar to Rage of the Gods and Rage of the Titans. The four main weapons are the Blades of Exile, the Claws of Hades, the Nemean Cestus, and another weapon that is made by a crazed man who I don't want to spoil. The weapon you use in "Rage of Sparta" is the Blade of Olympus which you got from Zeus in GoW2. Then you got items such as Hermes Boots, Helios' head, and the Bow of Apollo. It's kind of like Dante's Inferno it's a hack and slash game, with a few puzzles in it, and QTE's. If you have ever played the other God of War games you should know that this game is linear, very linear. You can branch off in different paths to find some treasure chests but mostly you're going straight.
My only complaint- I really didn't have any complaints in my review but I only have one. Reason I made a new heading is because I didn't know where it would go. But here's my only complaint. The Titans were a huge part of promoting this game but it's strange how it turned out so little they were in the game. I thought for maybe 1/3 of the game even less than that possibly would be spent on Gaia's back. Instead about 30-35 minutes through the game you're done riding on Titans backs, with the exception of about a 25 minute ride in the Battle against Cronos. Felt like a missed oppertunity but I can safely say what was in that short time on the back of the Titans, creatures 5 times the size of the Empire State Building, was amazing and something I've never seen in a game before.
Conclusion-God of War 3 has lived up to the hype. Its been a little while but it was extremely worth the wait. Yes, it did feel like a missed oppurtunity with the Titans and how short you were riding on them but that is no reason why this game shouldn't get above a 9 for me. So here's my score. The game gets a 9.5/10
