Awesome game play. Need I say more?!

I thought I was just picking up another action/adventure game when I got God of War, but it turned out to be so much more. The best thing about this game is by far the innovative battle system. Whereas so many action games rely upon merciless button mashing with a few combo moves thrown in here and there, GoW makes you really think about which buttons you’re hitting and when. Most of the bigger foes you face have a reaction, or series of reaction commands, that you can use to defeat them more efficiently. This is a good thing when you’re low on health and can’t afford to have a long drawn out battle. It also makes the game play really flow.
The rest of the game is also great. The graphics are fantastic, with beautiful environments and great looking monsters. The bosses are incredible. They look great and the different methods used to defeat them are fun and entertaining rather than just monotonous.
The story about Kratos really makes a great hook for the game. It makes you really want to help him along on his journey to kill Ares. The cut scenes are great, not too much filler, but enough to make you see why Kratos is the way he is. This is one of the best action games I’ve played and I can’t wait for the second one!
