VVVVVV is a fast paced hardcore platformer that manages to be compelling exactly because of its high difficulty level.
The Good: Cool retro presentation (both graphics and sound wise); hard without being discouraging; simple (thus easy to get into) gameplay mechanics put to good use in diverse situations. The Bad: Kinda short; uninspi... Read Full Review

Trial and Error Gameplay Killed My Enjoyment
VVVVVV started off with an interesting twist to platformers where you change gravity instead of jumping and it also included a more interesting story than many platformers have but it got bogged down by what I call trial... Read Full Review

Platforming equivalent of Super Hexagon; very addictive and highly enjoyable
Captain Viridian and his crew teleport off their space-ship in an evacuation process. The five crew members end up scattered across dimension VVVVVV and it's up to the Captain to save them. The game has a very retro styl... Read Full Review

Most frustrating game of the year!
VVVVVV is a 2D retro platformer with a difference. In this day and age, there are many different takes on the core platforming idea, but VVVVVV stands out as two things: 1, a very innovative platformer, and 2, the one wi... Read Full Review

It's a great game but just too short
I finished this game in 2 hours 1 minute with 854 deaths. Yes that's right but still it was a great experience. There's a little exploration in this game and I liked it. You have to rescue all your men that teleported in... Read Full Review

VVVVVV is an awesome game for what it is, but the 3D version has too little to set it apart from the original release.
The Good: The same from the original PC version: a compelling hardcore-retro blast. The Bad: Nothing special about 3D effects; a bit overpriced. VVVVVV was released a couple years ago as an indie PC project and it'... Read Full Review

VVVVVV is a fun yet challenging experience.
In the last couple of years, independent developers have started to really shine through due to digital distribution. One of these independent developers is Terry Cavanagh, creator of a handful of free flash games and VV... Read Full Review

Without a doubt, VVVVVV is one of the hardest platformers around. It's also one of the best of its class.
1309 deaths in 2 hours and 43 minutes of gameplay. The total amount of times I died by the time I finished VVVVVV. I think that alone says something for how brutal this game is. Don't let it's simple unsuspecting appe... Read Full Review

A retro-styled platformer with extreme challenges that are often as satisfying as they are difficult.
For most people, the fun of a game is overcoming the challenges that come along as we progress through it. With every game, the challenges can be too easy, just right, thought provoking, brain-melting, or skillful challe... Read Full Review

Gravity-flipping and mind-bending puzzles!
Wow, this game really came out of nowhere for me. Got it for a few bucks in some Steam sale and was really pleasantly surprised. The music is fantastic and even though the game is basically built around the one single me... Read Full Review

Although there isn't much content, VVVVVV is a fun, challenging blast from start to finish.
Pros: Fantastic level design that uses gravity flipping mechanic to its fullest; Charming and weird art style; Super catchy soundtrack; Tough, but fair, difficulty Cons: Brutally tough difficulty whereas extras are co... Read Full Review
