PlayStation State Of Play September 2024: All The Biggest Announcements

I was looking forward to this new Dynasty Warriors. I had a craving to play Dynasty Warriors a few weeks ago and saw a new game was coming out, but didn't say when. Glad it's early 2025, unless it gets delayed.

This PS5 Pro is going to be the most useless hardware. The regular PS5 hasn't even been taken advantage of yet. (To anyone besides gamers, that last statement would sound very strange, lol).

I think like 17 games were announced here, 3 of them VR cross plats, but somehow that's too much VR?

I am here reading the gamer's police/gurus dictating to others that ALL gamers MUST embrace the VR tech. What about free will, preferences, and personal choices? What about motion sickness and prescription glasses? Enjoy your games as you like and let others enjoy their games as they like.

I guess we have a sort of retro japanese rpg clash or battle between the Suikoden remastered game collection and the Lunar remastered game collection next year.

Nice, it feels like a slight comeback for Sony after a turbulent period which started with Concord.

After all, games are the most important thing and i am not overwhelmed or anything but it is a quite solid launch line up for the next couple of months even though they still might not have anything super impressive (like a new AAA-title which is not a cute platformer) in autumn 2024. But Horizon Lego and Horizon Remastered is okay, and there are some interesting third party titles there too. Remasters are kind of a money grab but at least it gives new players whi did not play the games on Ps4 something interesting to buy and it is nice to have older games upgraded..

And Fantasian, which i think is an rpg from one of the individuals who played a big part in developing Final Fantasy games.

And some new games for the VR (which not too many might have bought but it is nice to notice how it gets some new titles and support still, even though VR is not the future for games anymore..right? I feel like the VR hype has disappeared a lot.) .



And a promise of an awesome AAA title in 2025 with the sequel to Ghost of Tsushima.

The new Ghost game is all I needed. I hope they will bring back the online coop legen.

People here still not realizing that a State of Play is a quick update and not a Showcase. It’s not meant to be a big event full of big releases, if that’s what you expect might as well just wait for the next Showcase. To be fair considering the Ghost sequel this was one of the better ones.

Here, I've come to a comments section to post about things I don't want and won't buy!

You forgot Dino Crisis and Blood Omen for the classics catalog, while I don’t have any hopes for Dino Crisis I really hope they did something to the Blood Omen loading times to make it playable, I remember playing the original on og Playstation back in the day (or at least trying to) and was impossible, the only game that frustrated me more was the MS-Dos version of Alone in the Dark 2, those loading times were abysmal…

I was expecting something for the PS5 Pro to convince me its worth the $1250CAD after taxes and required accessories. All we got was about 8 seconds of flashes of old games that will be optimized for it. Seems they were trying to sell the PSVR2 and games we already own more than anything else. Sony is the master at reselling old games over and over and over again - and even some not so old games. I know several people who have 3 copies of TLOU and they would happily pay for an upgraded PS5 Pro version if Sony decided to charge for it.

I would very much like to play the Soul Reaver remasters, but I definitely don't want to buy a PS5 just for that.

Well, that and the Medievil remake from last gen that I didn't want to buy a PS4 for. : p

I cannot wait for Metro Awakening, Hitman VR (I never got to play it on the first PSVR) and Ghost of Yotei. Those are enough to make this State of Play a win in my book.

Thanks, I took a 2-hour nap during it so I could skim through it after waking up, and I gave up skimming through it after the second VR game to look at this article instead. Really wish they would keep VR games in a separate presentation, I will never be interested in strapping a clunky screen to my head to play video games. Ever.

Anyway, what a letdown. Nothing can save this wretched console anymore, if this is the best they've got after revealing an $810 version of it. Remasters, a mobile port and generic, boring nonsense. Good job Sony, see you next gen.

As a first time PS owner (Xmas 2023) I was hoping for a God of War remaster with the original games.

well a lot of people just seem unhappy with this State Of Play.

When they started talking about PS5 pro, I was half expecting them to talk about the backlash, apologize, and say the console was at least including a disc drive or something… guess my expectations were astronomically too high. Keep your PS5 pro, Sony. My regular PS5 will take me through the generation.

What about the fucking plates? Why isn't anyone talking about the plates? Will the existing ones fit the Pro or will we be stuck waiting for a new size???? Some of us are absolutely disgusted with Sony's white obsession this gen.

Another ABYSMAL showing
