How to complete the Drafting Strategy Sweepstakes in Blue Prince - Trophy of Drafting guide
The Drafting Strategy Sweepstakes has a very strict requirement: You must draft 20 or more dead-end rooms in a single run. It might seem daunting at first, but there are tricks and workarounds that make this challenge more manageable. But first, let's discuss how you learn about this task in the first place.
Where to find the information about the Drafting Strategy Sweepstakes
The Blue Prince Drafting Strategy Sweepstakes info comes from--you guessed it--the Drafting Strategy magazines that you can read in the manor:
- Volume 1: Found inside the Dormitory. This is an additional room, so you need to unlock it first via the Drafting Studio.
- Volume 2: Found inside the aforementioned Drafting Studio.
- Volumes 3 to 5: From the Library, draft the Bookstore and purchase these. You can then request and read them via the Library, too.
The last page of Volume 5 mentions the Drafting Strategy Sweepstakes. It tells you that the previous winner was able to draft 19 dead end rooms. That means you have to draft 20 or more of these in a single day.
What are dead end rooms?
There are over a dozen dead end rooms in Blue Prince--i.e. those with no other exits/pathways. If you look at the Room Directory, you can see those that have the "dead end" classification. Still, there are a few special options that are still part of this category.
- Regular manor rooms:
- Blueprints: Empty Closet, Walk-In Closet, Attic, Storeroom, Vault, Utility Closet, Sauna, Coat Check, Mail Room, Freezer.
- Bedrooms: Guest Bedroom, Nursery, Servant's Quarters, Bunk Room, Her Ladyship's Chamber, Master Bedroom.
- Green rooms: Terrace.
- Shops: Locksmith, Laundry Room.
- Red rooms: Lavatory, Furnace.
- Unlockable rooms:
- Studio Additions (via Drafting Studio): Clock Tower, Solarium, Dormitory.
- Found Floorplans: Planetarium.
- Special rooms - These rooms have additional exits/pathways, though they're still considered as dead ends:
- Blueprints: Garage, Chamber of Mirrors.
- Hallways: Secret Passage.
- Outer rooms - All outer rooms count as dead end rooms, too.
Tips to get more dead end rooms when drafting
For the Blue Prince Drafting Strategy Sweepstakes, you need to have the right buffs and rooms for that one perfect run. These include the Draxus and Inkwell constellations, as well as the Chamber of Mirrors.
The Draxus the Dead constellation
The Draxus the Dead constellation causes more dead end rooms to appear as drafting options. It gets activated at 12 and 22 stars onward.
The Inkwell constellation
The Inkwell constellation becomes active at 50 stars, and it allows you to reroll room options by spending stars instead. The idea is to get past the threshold--i.e. 72 or 92 stars--so you can have both Inkwell and Draxus active at the same time.
Don't go above 100 stars as that activates a different constellation. You'd have to go well past 150 stars if you want to make use of Inkwell again, and that can be a hassle.
The Chamber of Mirrors
The Chamber of Mirrors already counts as a dead end, and it also allows duplicates of rooms that you've already drafted to appear among the drawing options. This is quite invaluable, since it improves how you'd set up your manor placements.
Drafting Strategy Sweepstakes run and rewards
If you're ready for your Blue Prince Drafting Strategy Sweepstakes run, then we advise you to do the following:
- Draft the Shelter as an outer room. It negates the effects of the first three red rooms that you draft. You'll want to nullify the debuffs from the Archives, Weight Room, and Dark Room.
- From the Entrance Hall, start placing down rooms with adjoining paths or junctions--i.e. Hallway, Passageway, Conference Room, Den, etc. Plop these down in the even rows--i.e. rows/ranks 2, 4, 6, and so on.
- Leave some space open for the odd rows--i.e. rows/ranks 1, 3, 5, and so on, as well as the corners and edges.
- Don't forget to place the Chamber of Mirrors if you need duplicates, too.
- After focusing on your "connector paths," draft the Observatory so you can activate the Draxus constellation. From here, you can plop down dead end rooms.
If you manage to draft 20 or more dead end rooms in a single day, you'll complete the challenge. Your reward is none other than the Blue Prince Trophy of Drafting. You can find it in the Mail Room a couple of days after finishing this task. Oh, and you'll also receive 200 gold, which you can use to buy a bunch of stuff in the manor.
