Well for a start 360 has only sold 3 and a half million in europe by january with no competition since ps3 isn't out yet and wii is only out few months and i heard that in a UK website they are now selling for £150 to try and derail euro ps3 launch.  Now if 360 can't sell at that price and it isn't expensive anymore and has plenty of games then ps3 definatley isn't gonna do too well either, now even though here in europe it's basically sony land that dosen't mean we will all spend 500 euro on ps3 when we have ps2 with the most games. Ps3 of course will do well here but not as good as many people think in march, for us europeans we still love our ps2's and will be xmas before we start looking for ps3 or 2008 so for all those expecting us to just throw away our ps2's and go get a ps3 will get a big shock, remember ps2 is still the biggest and most popular console here so it will be a while before we change over to ps3

I agree with some of what you said and I think it has alot to do with the slow adoption of HDTVs. Most people really can't get the full experience from next gen consoles yet.

Yeah I don't see the point in getting hyped up and buying a 360 cuz it will just make it ever more appearant that I need an HDTV and it will just cost me more money.  So I'll wait till I get a decent HDTV and then pick up a 360.  Until then I'm sure the Wii will keep me busy, and if not there are plenty of games I've not beat or havn't had the chance to check out of the previous 3, and DS and GBA.

Yes... I thought I was completely next gen... :(

Next gen started with the launch of the 360 as far as I know... Not much new stuff on PS3 proving otherwise..

I dunno the world looks photo-realistic in HD when I peek outside the window, I'd say I'm next-gen. Real people have better A.I. too and you can't beat those physics from the Gravity Engine either. So real life>>>360/PS3, OWNED 8)

I couldn't get through even your first sentence without rolling my eyes... the 360 had no competition? That is absurd.

I agree with cakeorrdeath. HDTVs. The brand plays quite a role here too, more so than in the US imo.

you realize its sony that is saying how well the preorders are going. the same sony that said they are selling out every weekly 100,000 shipment, and that they will give the guy at EGM $1200 if he can find a PS3 on store shelves.

First off i would just like to say that when i meant europe isn't next gen i meant that most of european gamers don't want a next gen console yet, i think you can tell that by sales.  Another thing is that with the 360 at £150 at some websites and has sold fairly little in europe then ps3 isn't gonna too good either till xmas

I guess that all depends on where in Europe you are. I'm in the south east of England and the 360s have sold very well, and the vast majority of gamers I know own a 360 with many putting pre-orders down for a PS3 too. This seems like a pretty rash generalisation using only rough 360 sale figures. There is far more research that needs to be done before you can make a statement like that.

I am next gen ,got a
HDTV
XBOX 360
WII
A beutiful directx 10 pc and Quad Core
and preordered a Playstation 3
many of my mates also do have a Xbox 360 or a Wii or preordering a PS3
So I wouldnt say the UK isnt Next-gen
But then again many people dont have hd tvs (about 1/8 of my friends do have a HDTV)
so i would say yea we are NOT next-gen with HDTV's and visual quality
But not for games/consoles

Ps3 will not be that hot in europe. Most people still have a standard Tv. But it's changing FAST.. real fast. in 2009 it will be PS3 proof.

what percentage of the population in the US or Europe do you think will buy an HDTV in the next 2 years? especially considering the main use for them now is video games

in the uk you see way more HDTV's then SDTV's in shops these days thats something i never thought id see esspecially seemingly so quickly, honestly in a few years time HDTV's will likely be all you can find and it'll be common place to have one i know a fair few people that own them now myself included( altough mine is a glorified moniter)...................also im pretty sure HDTV sales went up as much as 52% from 2005 these things are taking over make no mistake
