There's alot of broken games out there if you had to pick just one new or old what would yours be?

For me I have to go with Cryostasis: Sleep of Reason really interesting cool game but man this game was never optimized correctly and can crash anytime I was still able to complete it and somewhat enjoy it.

Gotta be Titan Quest: Immortal Throne before the Anniversary Edition. Before AE, that expansion didn't get a proper patch before Iron Lore closed down, so the frame drops and rubber-banding was absolutely horrendous, almost unplayable.

Still soldiered on and finished it.

Ah yea Cryostatis is a good one. I completed it as well, definitely pretty janky but great atmosphere.

honestly, I'd go with Skyrim at launch. I dont know if i've ever had so many problems trying to finish a game. one of the main characters was bugged and would refuse to talk to me so I had to use console commands to bypass those missions in order to beat the game.

Release version of Fallout: NV. I'd say about 20% of my playtime was spent replaying sections due to soft locks.

NV is so broken, it's literally held together by tumbleweeds. When you leave Doc Mitchell's house, two tumbleweeds blow past. One of them activates the critical quest line. If you remove that tumbleweed, you can't get inside Lucky 38 or get invited to The Fort.

Probably original FF7 release on PC. Console games port back then in the 90's and 2000's just awful. I remember that the FMV dont work and if you want to watch it you have to go to game file directory and watch the scenes there lol. And game have very frequent crashes like in cosmo canyon it can be quite frustrating to navigate as game crash every few screen. I bought it cause I am a huge fan and want to replay it again.

In RTS definitely Empire Earth 3. Loved Empire Earth 2 but 3 was such a let down, still played world domination mode a lot cause was pretty blinded back then and persevered with the boatload of glitches and pathfinding issues.

Just about anything by Piranha Bytes. Gothic, Risen, ELEX, etc.

It's not so much that they're broken (though they do have a fair amount of bugs), it's just they're janky as hell. And I love 'em, real diamonds in the rough.

Just imagine you make a product and you think it's ready, and to quality test it...you test it out. You don't do a focus group, you don't bring in a third party to try it out, you personally test out this product you already think is ready and you've been working on for years and say "Yup, it's ready. Ship it". That's how a Piranha Bytes game feels lol. Made by developers and tested by developers.

If you enjoy a Piranha Bytes game, you're a true gamer imo 😜 It means you're willing to suffer for you joy.

I have never played anything remotely close to being as f*ckedup as BF2042, and i am like level 69, so essentially "beaten" the game.

Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines, played it (a few times) with the mod fix but still a mess of a game. Great game regardless.

Lords of the Fallen, it would randomly crash while playing resulting in a soft reboot (not horrible but still sucky). That's the worst I can remember.

I barely even play broken games so I'd say I have finished exactly zero.

I guess the most broken I played but no where near completing would be TESV: Skyrim.

STALKER original version was broken but then mods fixed it to the point it become masterpiece.

and this is why i have no worries about STALKER 2 its modding community is too strong that they will fix the game again.

Probably Operation Racoon City.

Lit not playable on Steam without workarounds, but Valve being Valve, happily sell it.

The engine and port job is also abyssal.

We just had RE5 at the time, which looked beautiful and ran like silk. And then we get this trash-fire.

Driver 3 was such a hot mess of a broken game when I played it on PS2, I barely could continue with that game. Driver 3 was the only broken game I finished and throughout my gaming life, I have never run into problems beyond what Driver 3 did.

To be fair, Halo: MCC's campaign work well and no problems. It was the MP that was a broken mess but fortunately for me, I bought the game just to play the campaigns only and I was totally starfield with the purchase I made on that day.

Never got around to actually finish it. I've played it several times, but stopped for some reason. And every time I picked it up again I ended up starting over from scratch. Maybe some day..

Bloodlines, but I was playing with the unofficial patch, so did not encounter any major issues.

@mrbojangles25: 😂 I was thinking in my head "Piranha Bytes games aren't broken, they are jank." right before I read you stating the same thing. They do have a strange appeal though.

I usually buy games when they are already patched ... or at least not that broken, but the one that comes to my mind is Bayonetta on the PS3, got it on launch day and man, it was rough, don't remember if i finished it before the patch that improved loading times, frame rate and several other times.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. SOC (pre-2009 mod). Still great but that game had technical problems.

Easy... Fallout New Vegas at launch. Game was a broken disaster. Game was probably a 9, but my experience playing it was more like a 6 or 7/10.

Its where I first started saying, why did I buy this day 1?

Call of Duty: Vanguard. I do enjoy the multiplayer even though it does glitch and lag constantly, it certainly had potential if they actually finished it before releasing the game.

I finished CyberPunk 2077 on the PS4 last year. Was a f*cking nightmare. Not that the stuttering framerate and screen tearing was stopping me, it was the frequent crashing which almost made me put the controller through my TV screen.

@ratchetclank92: I played the free demo on the ps4, played 3 matches and it was an easy pass. It's the exact same game as MW just with a new coat of skin (and I hate the new MW) but what really sealed the deal it hard locked my PS4 after the 3rd match. Thanks for saving me $40 Activision.

So i was playing BF2042, the most bug free title on Earth. Got the ADS glitch that didn't allow me to ADS any weapons until i suicide, so i threw a nade at my feet to suicide and respawn. The nade blew, and my body flew so high in the sky that the closest objective in the Conquest mode was over 4300m away from me. I was dead, but could move the dead body in the sky as if i wasn't dead. Couldn't suicide nor respawn. Stuck in the sky until the match ended (i was actually shittalking the game in map chat the whole time🙃🙃🙃). What a game.
