The Steam page for System Shock 2 25th anniversary just went live and what can I say?

I realy wanted to start this game now for a very long time, but instead of creating my own Frankenstein monster with mods I just decided for the Nightdive remaster to finally release.

Nightdive has been cooking these past few years: Quake remasters, Turok 3, The Thing.

Their classic games remasters are pretty neat, but when it comes to remasters of full 3D games this is me:

Check out these screenshots, and go buy this on whatever system you are currently on. As it's coming to everything:

System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster will soon be released on Windows PC via Steam and GOG and on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, and Nintendo Switch.

Early in development they shoved VR footage.

This is what I want, alongside Thief 1/2.

One of the greatest game ever made. couldnot get into SS1 remake. that feel more dated than 1999 System shock 2.

Ever since beating Bioshock in 2007 I wanted to play this Ken Levine masterpiece.

It is at least playable. Unlike Concord. 😂

Concord lasted 2 weeks. System shock is already lasting 26 years.

There will be more news about the remake on the 20th of March. They’ve been working on this game, NightDive studios that is, for around 6 years.

What's the point, you can still buy one, and it's getting remastered, the other is just dead, like super-duper ☠️☠️DEAD☠️☠️

@outworld222: I was referring to the titled comparison between System Shock and Concord, pointless because one game isn't even avaliable anymore

Nice! Looking forward to this. Holding off from playing System Shock 2 from my backlog. Nightdive has done a fantastic job on the remasters.

Wait you want me to let Sony spending 300 million on the biggest FPS flop in history slip?

No way.

I'm gonna use "better than Concord" more often...

I accidentally shot myself in the leg today, but at least it was better than concord...

Last month I got food poisoning, but at least it was better than concord.

Forgot picked that up. :/

Their remaster of it was fantastic, of all their remasters arguably the game that benefited the most.

Completed it entirely using Steam Controller as well, and presuming it works perfectly on Steam Deck.

What's keeping you from playing the remake?

I thoroughly enjoyed it to say the least, it was like thinking man shooter version of Half Life.

@R4gn4r0k: Too busy for stuff beyond maybe 1 game at a time atm.

Been playing Icewind Dale: EE but it gets mega repetitive with the crowd control, so might drop it.

The System Shock remake is fantastic yet clearly a choice was made to be extremely faithful to the original, flaws and all. If it feels like an old clunky P.C. game.. that's because it is.

It's high in large the same old game with a few welcome changes and visual overhaul. Had a good time, however worth noting often enjoy retro games anyway.

SS1 remake was awesome, do play if you haven't. I had never played SS before, and the remake was a good time to try it out.

I don't think it was especially hard, confusing or clunky. For gamers who need someone to hold their hand all the time and never likes to challenge their intellect, sure, skip it. For everyone else, I recommend the game.

try System shock 2. its much better. SS1 remake actually feel more outdated than 1999 System shock 2.

the horror, the tension, the level design, the atmosphere all done perfect in SS2.

You should look into those Obsidian CRPGs:

Pillars of Eternity, Tyranny.

Especially Tyranny should be right up your alley because you can play as a proper jerk. I'm kidding of course, I love you.

@R4gn4r0k:

Icewind Dale isn't so much like them, it's a straight up a dungeon crawler. No character stuff whatsoever.

Still tactics in resistance stuff but mid game primarily about spamming crowd control in a loop.

That might change very late game, could be completely wrong.

@R4gn4r0k: na, Jagged Alliance is closer to Commandos, seen a few PC gamers consider Jagged Alliance 2 one of the best PC games of all time.

So you'll probably have a good time I suspect.
