Should Resident Evil 4 remake have made the original Resident Evil 4?

Would this have not been more interesting?

They could have also done this with Resident evil 1.5

I think this would have ultimately been a far more interesting alternate reality product, than making already good games that didn't require them to begin with.

Would've been weird. I'd rather they make a new RE game with that and not done a remake at all.

I realized after playing the demo again that there's a good chance I will never play the remake. It's just... not fun anymore. They made the action so floaty and unresponsive as a counterweight against moving and shooting at the same time. It's why a modern Dino Crisis would never work. They would have to impair Regina so much, and the over the shoulder perspective would still overpower her. Velociraptors would take so many bullets that they wouldn't even seem like animals.

I said,

"Don't like the way it handles. So zoomed in when you aim. Wobbly. Position of your character feels so floaty and imprecise.

"Crappy, annoying (noisy) music.

"Leon looks weird. Gaunt. Like he's sick. Or part Asian? Voice has half the charisma of the original.

"Opening house too long.

"Containers painted yellow because nothing stands out from all the detail.

"Lack of shoulder swap bothers the hell out of me. Have to move so far out of cover to see what's there.

"Seems also like the text commentary is gone. I checked a few things out in the demo and the cam just focused but without any of the protagonist's mental commentary. You could say, graphics have come so far that you no longer need to write that (and I would disagree), but what about smell? It added atmosphere."

Can agree with those points. RE4R feels much more floaty, as you put it, than the original. I don't like how the movement feels. It feels like they focused on the animations for the movement instead of how it feels to move. Yeah, it looks good, but it feels bad. Since it's a videogame, that's a shit decision to make.

And this painting things yellow in videogames, I basically take that as devs either calling us braindamaged, or telling us that they're shit at level design.

Was fine with the remake. But I wouldn't seeing something like that as a spin-off thing. Something like the Revelations games, but with that kind of style.

But that wouldn't be close to what we NOW know as RE4, wouldn't it? No.

Exactly, it would be more interesting.

They have already made non-canon Resident Evil games.

Since the old game still exists and is playable, no.

RE4 remake is much better than original, even more harder, crisp and clear control, better shooting and gunplay even better characterization.

I mean. Given real life.

(Evidenced if you worked retail for so long and someone STILL has to ask a cashier on whether or not they are even open, or OTHER stupid questions they could've answered on their own).

I'm happy with the RE 4 Remake as it is. But if Capcom ever decided to make a new original Resident Evil game with the classic fixed camera style and gameplay then I'm fine with that.

While I would certainly be interested in Capcom revisiting this version of the game in some fashion I am quite satisfied with how the current Resident Evil 4 Remake turned out.

"Escape the haunted house and Hookman" would've been cool as an unlock for beating the game or a dlc. I'm happy with what we got :)

@Litchie: The yellow tagging is more an indicator that due to graphical fidelity, games are more visually busy. Without these hints, most gamers will be lost. It is not like games are made with realistic tasks or scenarios.

Yeah but modern hardcore chad gamers like us (who also happen to have played the original) don't really need them anymore so we can use mods like these:

Yeah these days if I find something bugs me in a game, which can be major annoyances like say camera shake or chromatic aberration to like tiny grievances... I just check online or on the nexus and 9 times out of 10 someone felt the same way and made a mod about it.

That's great about software: you can mod it to your needs.

That's what I was hoping for years ago when RE2 and RE4 remakes were announced. But I knew it wouldn't happen and Capcom would play it safe. Recreating the early cancelled prototypes would be risky projects, whereas the released versions are tried and tested, so would be safer bets to remake.
