Should i get Cyberpunk 2077 now as massive patch (1.2) going to release?

Was staying away from CP 2077 hearing and seeing all the horror, will this patch fix everything that was wrong with it?

CP 2077 looks fun if its optimised properly.

I'd say wait until it's the 'next gen open world game' they promised.

No, I'm talking on a base level. I played the game about a month-month and a half ago. It wasn't ready.

Just postpone your playthrough at the moment, you will have your game ruined by loads and loads of bugs.

I'm not sure how well the patches have improved the console versions, but the PC version is more than playable... Still not the game CDPR promised, but decent none-the-less.

Does not look like the patch will fix the biggest issues with the game, neither will it add the missing content.

I'd say wait until you start hearing and seeing exactly how the patch effected the game.

Maybe wait for the next gen patch coming this summer.

What's the rush? I would wait. There are more patches coming, you know - and more content.

It's one of my favorite games in recent years. It was a totally hot mess in many ways, but well-worth a play, IMO. Much better RPG than TW3. But it needs more time in the oven. I beta tested it for you ;-) I say sit tight. It'll only get better with time, not worse

I would say wait. I just checked and the patch isn't even out yet (is it?), and historically patches themselves are as liable to mess things up as they are to fix them.

I love Cyberpunk 2077 and consider it a diamond in the rough, but I wouldn't recommend it at this point because people generally don't have the patience to see through the faults and enjoy it.

Just wait. I played around with it the first week and decided I'm gonna wait until the next gen upgrade. Of course it'll never be the game they promised, but hopefully by then it'll be a lot closer.

Get it in a year from now. This game needs a dozen of massive patches.

Don't get it unless you play on PC. Enjoyed it thoroughly on the PC with minor bugs.

I have about 12+ hours into it right now, haven't ran into any problems/crashes. Huge update yesterday. playing on XSX.

Size of the update if you remember?

Not sure about on Xbox, but the update on Steam was a ~30gb download. The list of fixes is long.

Patch won't be out until next week, at least for PC anyway.

At any rate if you've waited this long for a patch you might as well just wait another year or two, even once they fix the game's horrible bugs and balance problems, they still need to add a lot of features to make it anything close to where it should have been.

A "next generation" update for PS5/XSX has already been announced and in their "later 2021" pipeline. Whether or not that comes to pass, up in the air.

I thought it was going to be postponed because of how messed up CP2077 still is.

Shewt, I had fun with the launch version, but I'd say wait as long as you can.

From looks of it, streets are still nearly empty of vehicles or people, AI is awful, the randomized NPCs are horriblely annoying still.

People still fail to realize there is more wrong with this game than performance issues or glitches. The game is basically incomplete. Let that sink in.

All the patching in the world, the game will never be what was advertised.

I was seeing on YouTube earlier that CDPR is starting Witcher 4 production next year... seems they are throwing in towel for CP2077, it needs AT LEAST a few more years.

@xantufrog: I hate how people have been mislead into thinking all that is wrong with the game is glitches and performance issues when the game wasn't even close to being completed, like if they just play it on a beefier console or PC the problems disappear. This is basically a game in preview program in build quality. I don't hate it. There's still a lot that can be salvaged with some major overhauling. Until then. Apparently the 1.2 patch is solely focused on performance improvements and patching out bugs. If they do plan on fixing design issues, it will be down the road.

Also regarding the Witcher 4 announcements I also heard now they will split the studio into two teams, one dealing with Witcher 4 and other with continued support of CP2077, honestly not sure how I feel about that but I guess a sign they plan on supporting it, a sign maybe they are cable of juggling two projects (but if that were the case they shouldn't have had an issue releasing it in first place); I guess we'll just have to wait and see

I've decided not to get the game until at least next year. I think that would give them enough time to properly fix the game (glitchs and otherwise).

Might wait even longer, I'm not in a hurry to play this game. Never have been tbh.

Honestly, even if the game was glitch free, it still wouldn't be a very good open world game. The world is empty with not much to do. The storytelling is pretty decent, however, if you want to play a linear campaign that is.

GTAV is 11 years older than this and still miles ahead of it in every category.

Game seems boring, let alone very unfinished. Wouldn't get it at all.

This game showed everyone that you cannot create an open world game with ai from 1999. The skeleton crew in charge of "fixing" the game will never overhaul the ai, so what we have is what's staying, and what's staying is real bad.

I would hold off for about a year.

The game would need a massive overhaul to get close to what was promised and expected. Some minor superficial fixes won't do it.

@Litchie: to be honest it is a very good game, I’m not finding it boring but it is clearly not finished.. already had to reload a couple of times on pc because of glitches like the officer getting stuck in the lift and floating off the map.. so couldn’t get the access card to continue. Then NPCs getting stuck in the environment, but I’m persisting with it as it is enjoyable, hopefully this patch fixes the game breaking bugs.

Then again I never really was hyped for this and stayed away from the marketing stuff and their promises. So not too disappointed with what was given, just annoyed by the glitches at times

I started playing with version 1.12 and didn't encounter any major bugs and it ran good. There were some minor visual glitches/jank at times, but the game is very much enjoyable. Patch 1.2 fixes a lot of that stuff. So, I wouldn't hesitate to play it on PC. It may be a stripped down game from what was promised, but it is still a good game.

I still want my 3rd person option

stay away from the last gen version my brother has it and its still a shoddy experience.

@Litchie: You must get bored very easy, I'm having a lot of FUN! First boss fight was pretty intense., I had 5 bullets left.

Hopefully all the wrinkles are ironed out by the time it hits GamePass. lol :P

The real problem is people want a GTA, its not GTA. This game has the dumbest criticisms.

Who cares about the police system? The game quest and gameplay flow is not designed for police escapes and crime systems.

And really the marketing team undersold the storytelling aspect and that aspect more than met the hype.

CDPR also said that features would be cut and thats part of game development. They have said this time and time again.

And I think overall, stripping down the game was a good thing. Focus on what you are good at, not what you are not. And thats what CDPR did.
