It may be hard for many of you to understand this. I'm a psychology major, so I'm perfectly equipped to comprehend this. But please don't derail this topic with butthurt if you frustrated at your linguistic skills.

I agree that video games are racist, especially towards black people. If you make fun of Polish people, and therefore part of the white race, everyone gets really mad and upset. However, when black people are mentioned, a group that has been persecuted for a long period of history, they will point to crime statistics, as if their environmental situation, which was **** on by the white man, means nothing.

TL;DR version: He's crying about all that makes games interesting which you could view as racist if you look at it from his perspective. Also, using (only) two of the biggest game franchises in history does not provide enough proof for that racism BS.

I think whites are carefully taught not to recognize white privilege, as males are taught not to recognize male privilege. So I have begun in an untutored way to ask what it is like to have white privilege. I have come to see white privilege as an invisible package of unearned assets which I can count on cashing in each day, but about which I was meant to remain oblivious. White privilege is like an invisible weightless knapsack of special provisions, maps, passports, codebooks, visas, clothes, tools and blank checks.

Why are dwarves stereotypical Scotsmen that drink too much, with a Scottish accents and kilts?

As a Scotsman, I actually get annoyed when Dwarves are not portrayed as Scottish. I see them as an elevation of the fact my tiny country has made such an impact on the world that people instantly recognise the stereotype. That being hard drinking, hard fighting, kilt wearing and barely civilised. Of course this is nothing but a caricature, a comic vision that has stuck and believe it or not, many of us are proud of it. Would anyone recognise a where a Dwarf was from if they had a Jordanian comic personality?

There are also many games where the hero is a coloured man, two of the top of my head would be Prototype 2 and Crysis 3 or you could go for even more games where your squad leader is coloured, such as Ghost Recon: Future Soldier. As for Asians, I guess Sleeping Dogs and Jade Empire (another two games of the top of my head) don't count in the same way as the Pandarians don't count?

Many games developers these days are made up of multi-cultural teams, with branches in many different countries contributing to the development of a single game.

I'll also ask you. What of the Japanese, who nearly always westernise the characters in Anime games, movies and comics. Are they being racist towards their own people too? If so then why is the art style so popular in Japan?

Telling people you're a psychology major is like admitting that you couldn't get into Science/Business/Engineering, and had to settle with a major that most people take as a minor or just for fun.

Who cares what color the skin is? You need to realize that it is the culture that matters, not the skin color. I loved Prey because of the way they incorporated Native American music and settings. I could have played as anyone and it wouldn't have made a lick of a difference. The character still has two arms, two legs, and shoots guns. Complaining that the character was or wasn't a certain color is pointless. Delete your blog post because it is missing the point altogether.
