Gears of War to get a live action film, followed by an animated series at Netflix

I was a big fan of the original trilogy. I still enjoy the multiplayer but the newer campaigns are average.

This movie has so much potential but Netflix haven't got the best track record. Just look at Halo. Even if it sucks I'm just happy that it's finally happening. It was meant to happen well over a decade ago.

I'm definitely more hyped for the animated series. They tend to do better and I feel the story can be told better.

Gears is definitely not what it used to be but I'm excited about this news. What about you?

I can get behind the animated series as they've done well with Arcane, Castlevania, & even the latest Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. As a live action film though? Ehhhh don't know about that...guess we'll have to wait and see. I would like to see them hire Dave Bautista for Marcus Fenix as I know he has been campaigning to play him for a while

Oh hell yeah! Hope they get Dave Bautista to play as Marcus. Am definitely hyped for both the live action movie and the animated one. Really hope we see something on a Gears 6 game next year as well.

Don't care for the live action tbh, but Netflix animation has been pretty awesome for the most part.

Whichever covers the event of E-Day in the Gears lore, I'll be on-board on either side cause E-Day is a big deal.

Can't wait to hear the dumb name they give the timeline so Dom can rescue his wife who slept with Marcus and now there's some weird love triangle thing going on.

Netflix doesn't have a good track record with adaptations, so I can't imagine this one going well. They need to spend the money necessary to make this look right too. Don't just have it take place on Earth, Sera is a fantasy realm

Now that I think about it. Why not do a crossover with Halo/Gears on Netflix? Would be something cool to see Netflix doing and not just another standalone video game adaption.

Just imagine, a tlou Netflix adaption. It would be terrible. Sony somehow pushed through a live action on hbo, but I heard the director refused to go with the script and vetted the actors to make sure they didn't play game 2. Ooff.

We all know it is either gonna be something stupid like that or they find some random kid still alive in a wiped out town who then travels with the team cause Marcus has to protect her plus Dom and his wife always wanted kids but she couldn't have them so this gives him hope while he looks for her.

Or Marcus fucks the the Locust Queen and is Kait's father who shows up season 2.

Fun fact: Gears of War 3, the Locus Queen was going to be Marcus mother but those plans are shredded to pieces unless Netflix found the script of course lol.

As I recall, John Travolta was the contender to play as Marcus but I don't know what happened to that. Dave is alright when given the right materials to work with, he can be a decent actor.

I think Dave is a pretty good actor now. Better than Dwayne Johnson. Black Adam was woefully miscast

I remember something like that getting leaked then my buddy and I going back and forth on whether Marcus was the part Locust or if he'd end up fucking the Locust queen and bringing peace between humans and Locust with the power of awesome banging.

Felt like something Epic would have done back then.

I hope they make it off the Epics version of Gears and not the failed Coalition version. Gears 1 , 2 and 3 we’re some of the best memories for me .

God no. Epic's versions were pure asshole compared to The Coalition's versions.
