I tend to be a minimalist when it comes to keeping stuff, so I usually sell old games and systems. I will say though, looking back, it would have been nice to have kept my Sega Genesis just for posterity. The only system I have kept all these years is my original PlayStation, which is my favorite system of all time. It still serves as my MGS 1 machine lol.

What about you, SW? Do you keep your systems/games? Ever regret selling one?

I sold my Gameboy Color to save up money for the PlayStation 2.

I regret that, because the Gameboy Color was the first system I ever bought myself.

I regret selling all my childhood systems to Gamestop for like $100 cash when I was 17. I sold an NES, SNES, Genesis, N64, PS1, DC, PS2, Xbox, GC and something like 30 games for each. I also sold my handhelds like Game Boy, Game Boy Color, GBA.... It was an absolute disaster. I probably had the mindset at the time that I just was done with gaming and wanted the money for more important things but that trade in will haunt me for the rest of my life.

I sold my NES to Funcoland back in the 90's. I was pissed at how much of rip off it was.

I don't really regret selling most of the consoles I sold. Actually probably should have gotten rid of all of them. I'm definitely dumping my 360. Might keep the PS3 for awhile.

Sometimes I wish I had a nice SNES collection, but honestly I only had about 15 games. So I ended up selling it my SNES a package and got a pretty good price for it. My PS1 I actually gave away mostly (save for a few valuable/rare games - which I put on ebay).

I have some consoles that no longer function (such as my NES). So that's why I figure there is really no reason to keep them. I even found a few years ago my PS2 controllers were all shot after being stored for several years - so I ended up buying a couple of new controllers to have "just in case". That was probably a waste of $$$ since I might never again hook up the PS2.

I regret selling my first N64. I sold it with 20+games for like 150 bucks. I kinda regret selling it that same day.

Some months later I found a N64 with Mario 64 and the 2 Zelda games (Majora's Mask in original packaging) in a 2nd hand shop for less than 100, so I bought it again lol.

It was the last time I ever sold a console. I also regret letting my parents sell our SNES back in the day.. : (

I regret selling my game cube, but I was a moron at that time about it. Now I like to keep all my games and consoles for future use. Except my 360, my nephew is getting that when he is old enough for gaming. Thankfully I still have some titles to finish on it.

I don't sell my games, but I did lose my copy of Megaman legends 2 during a move to a new house years ago. I wish capcom would just put it on psn in the west already.

My Sega Megadrive and 60gb PS3, should have hung onto them really, the 60gb was broken but i think all it needed was re-soldering though i didn't know what i was doing with hardware at the time so chucked it and got a new one. Think they still sell even when they're broken now because of the backwards compatibility.

I've eyed up one of the little Megadrive remake consoles Sega sell these days.

I regret selling Super Mario Sunshine and Luigi's Mansion many years ago. I've sold other games before, but I think I got all of them back now. I keep all my stuff now if I enjoy it.

I regret nothing. I move on.

In the past I would regret trading things in, then rebuy them, but then I would never replay them. So they are just a waste of space on my shelf. I just really don't care anymore to replay old games. It's cool for nostalgia, but then I get bored after 20 minutes and remember why I stopped playing those old games.

As much as I love Sonic The Hedgehog 2, Super Mario World or Goldeneye007....I have beaten those games like 300 times each. There is no reason or desire to replay them anymore. They are just memories for me now.

I sold Persona 1 and 2 and now they are rare and cost around $50 for the discs alone. Although I loved the art and tone of the games they were still mediocre.

@Gue1: Yeah, classic Persona is shockingly bad. Not even mediocre, it's just flat out bad.

I am a big fan of the thematic complexity of Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment, though.

I'll probably end up regretting selling my NES and all my games for that.

Also my Genesis

And there's a few GC games I've sold over the years, most of which I ended up buying again down the road because I regretted selling them.

None, there are emulators for every old system and as long as you have a halfway decent PC you can run them all just fine.

I regret nothing because I sell nothing.

The only thing that´s bugging me is trying to find my PS1, my wife stored it in " it´s place " ( whatever the **** that may be ) , it was in my son´s room ( he played with it all the "children´s games" like Crash and Spyro ) but it hand´t been used for a while and one of those days the ole ball n´chain goes in those "let´s do some cleanup" sprees the console disappeared ( and now she doesn´t remember where she stored it ), however I don´t make a big deal out of it, if she finds it ---> fine, if she does´t then ---> fine, if she does´t find it the solution is simple, I just purchase another one.

I regret selling all of the games and systems I've sold over the years. In particular I guess I'd say my PS2, Gamecube, DS and GBA stuff.

I want to blame being a teenager for a lot of those mistakes, but I couldn't really use that as an excuse with the DS...

At least there's always a chance you'll see this or that game be made available for download or get ported or remade.

I have a sneaking suspicion I sold some dreamcast games way back when due to intense nagging, and I think Skies of Arcadia may have been among them. It was I think when PS2 was out and I didn't think I'd miss it, but I was wrong. Got the majority of the games still, can't find that one.

I've never sold a system, and hardly ever sell games.
I did sell Forza 3 and Red dead redemption because I found both of them unbearably boring.

I have no idea where my mega drive and games went. I think I let my dad give them away to a poor family IIRC. I made the crucial mistake of thinking just because newer systems were out these were obsolete. I wasn't to know retro systems would be a thing or that I'd ever care for the concept years later. Hope whoever it went to enjoyed it.

I'd a similar thing with my mam giving our old SNES and games to a young cousin. Was annoyed at the time (and occasionally since when I think of it :P) but to be honest it's probably better that those systems go to some new gamer who plays the hell out of them, rather then just being yet another retro console that we might play once in a blue moon.

In other words, we are Andy at the end of Toy Story 3 :P

My biggest regret was donating my SNES to an Orphanage for kids decades ago but in another way, I just hope those kids had fun with my system back then. But luckily today, there's always remasters/remakes to play those games again.

Launch 60gb PS3 and Game Boy Advance SP both come to mind since they both play 3 generations of games (PS1/PS2/PS3 and GB/GBC/GBA respectively) and both have extra features that other versions of their consoles don't have(Card reader + 4 USB ports on PS3 and great backlit screen + rechargable battery on GBASP).

I never owned a launch 60gb PS3, I just feel like it's one of those systems that if you have one you should never get rid of it as long as it still works.

Not sure if I'd say "regret" but it probably wasn't the best decision to sell the Gameboy Pocket, NES, and SNES. Back in the day it was pretty normal to trade in, in order to upgrade to the next thing. And while today many will scream foul, if not a lot of people did this the industry would not have grown like it has.

Over the years I've picked up a few systems here and there, along with getting some back from extended borrowing sessions. Bought a 3DO in the past year, got a few systems back from relatives, and just last week I picked up a Genesis for $10 (model 1 HDG).

Something that turns me off are the false price inflations of retro games. They've gone so high that the flash cart/repo cart market is growing. I have no issue with people using a Drive with games from the past whose developers seek no income from their product.
