I still think the US is in the worst state. One provider for some states is terribad.clyde46
And it really sucks for people that live in the middle of the country, too many games dedicate their servers to only East and West coast only.
Yup, sitting on a 2MB connection at the minute which is the max in my area  BT are cack

When I say my internet is 3mb I mean it only downloads at like 350 kb/s max. Sometimes on something like Origin I can get to 600 kb/s but never in the 1 Mb region

That's because BT will not upgrade the old copper lines to fibre optic, in areas where they don't think it's profitable enough to do it. Which is pretty much everywhere in Britain that isn't in a city centre.
BT suck, Virgin is your friend ;)
I'm on 60mb and it's due to double to 120mb thanks to Mr Bolt ;)

BT have been dragging their feet when it comes to putting in Fibre. They know they will lose customers to Virgin if they did. When I was in uni in Southampton I had Virgins XL 50Mb package. I left just they were going to up it to 100Mb. Still 17mb in a village is pretty dam good.Damn, what kind of crapholes are you guys living in?
The lowest speed my cable company provides here on the east coast is 21mb/s down 2mb/s up, i pay 15 bucks extra a month and i get 60mb/s down and 8mb/s up.
they also have 100mb/s but i think its not cost effective at all considering it costs $50 more a month on top of the basic fee.
virgin media suck all there adverts are lies and most of them even got banned.free_milkThey are the best in the UK right now. I am with them (only 10Mb package), but they're the most reliable I've had.
BT totally need to get off their asses and start installing fibre optics in every area possible. Seems like my area will never get fibre optics at this rate..Yup, sitting on a 2MB connection at the minute which is the max in my area  BT are cack

Gonna be stuck on 10mb forever.. D:
Recently moved back home after living in the States for so many years and come to find out they have 200mb connections here. Bliss.
2MB/3MB? what kind 3rd world countries are you guys living in. and playing online must suck ass for you guys. and i thought my 20MB connection was bad. LP4EVA2005You don't need a lot of bandwidth to play online, dumbass. 2 or 3Mb's is enough, ping is more important.

people need to get their facts straight, of everyone got 4MB/s that would be amazing, there is a huge difference between 4Mb/s and 4MB/s

That always confuses me, and I always forget which is which. All I know is I live in California, and I've got the cheapest internet Comcast would give me, and when I'm downloading games on steam, I regularly get over 2 megabytes/second. Can't remember is thats MB or Mb.
eh
i have xtreme 105 from comcast it's aite
wish the upload was symmetrical but that's never going to happen with docsis
pings could be better too, and open peering would be nice like ATT.
Still, it's pretty good.
You can get xtreme105 in a lot of markets from Comcast, or other isps. You just have to pay.
Docsis 3.1 is coming in a few years and can do 10gb/s and 1 gb/s upload. Of course that's the max.
Docsis 3 can do 300 mb/s on the down w/ 8 channels
I don't see why everyone is complaining. If you want better pings, then that's a legitimate reason, but speeds you can get pretty decent in most places, if you pay.

Dallas has a LOT of dedicated servers there.

See, that's the thing. How much is that costing you per month?
Also I should note speed like what you have is not even close to being widely available. I live in an area where the fastest speed is at 50 mbps, and that's if you're willing to pay for it. Not to mention companies have data caps in place which really can restrict usage. Netflix already takes up enough bandwidth as it is, I can't imagine how far over ATT's monthly 150GB cap I'd be if I started cloud gaming.

100+ dollars. atleast thats what is quoted to me.Why is US so crap at internet?
I get 60 down for less than £20 a month (UK).
I can buy a full game on steam and play it in less than 30 mins, that's faster than going out and buying it.

Their cable service is great but their DSL service is about the worst.
Because its a massive country with most likely horrible infrastructure. Its the same reason why the UK was falling behind in its broadband speed only a few years ago, there has now been a huge push and 100mb internet has come out this year. For us in the UK its easier to get everyone up to speed because we are so small. However when you need to try and link up people across as vast area, its not cheap or easy. Why is US so crap at internet?

I have Charter's 100 mbps plan, as they are the only ISP in my area. For $90 it's a bit steep, but since I don't ever plan on bundling cable/phone (Which would be the same price, only with 30 mbps) I deal with it.
