It is great. Xbox should be a 3rd party only.

This is the Xbox SERIES - Xbox will have more future console - you can be convince players will want the Game Pass Machine!! Thank you Phil!
Since everyone loves saying "concerning" for whatever silly reasons I'll never understand console gamers but whatever, here's my thoughts on the matter.
Phil spencer confirmed that there will be a next-gen Xbox at the very least...most likely in 2027 or 2028. (give or take as this is my guess) But it's really possible that they're slowly exiting the console hardware market as they are pushing everyone to join in Game Pass/xCloud ecosystem and rea;;y just focus on service with great interest content in the future.
Make no mistake that consoles will still be around for those who don't wanna get into gaming PCs for whatever their reasons, so that alone will tell you that consoles aren't going extinct.
What an embarrassing credibility losing thing for DF to say.
Consoles are an important part of ecosystem control. Game pass would be PC only without Xbox consoles.
There’s no way Gamepass would work on a Sony or Nintendo console, because Sony and Nintendo wants to control their own ecosystems and everything on it.
And Gamepass is important to MS in terms of other big potential competitors such as Amazon and who ever else in the future.
So they're literally just talking about the rumored "pro" console from Sony and the idea that potentially MS will not release their own "pro" version.
Nothing to do with withdrawing from the hardware market in its' entirety, digital foundry do make a good point though about the number of SKU's that potentially puts on the market, PS5 disc, Ps5 discless, xbox series S, xbox series X, and Potentially PS5 pro, if MS did decide to launch a "pro" console you could add a series pro to that list, and that's without including the switch and its' rumoured successor. They said 5 in the video but if we're talking just home consoles in general we are talking potentially 7-8 options on the market at the same time.
It seems they were talking about the pro consoles.
I watched it to see what they had to say about project q. They seem wholly unimpressed with it so far.
Honestly... it's only a matter of time. That's why they are consolidating and pushing everything as a service.
As Starfield gets closer Sony fan peoples desperation will intensify, the depths of the internet will be scoured in search of anything that tries to paint Xbox in a bad light,it will be posted in a huge Butthurt campaign aimed at easing the obvious pain Starfield has inflicted, and when day one bugs that EVERY game has are magnified 1000 fold remember having issues patched is better than not having the game, playing at upsaled 4k30 is better than not having the game.
Sony tried to make starfield PS console exclusive and xbox said hold my glass 🍺🥊
Around 25 million people bought an Xbox so far. They aren't going to stop selling Xbox as long as they got numbers like that. They will diversify though...
Looks like MS is going my end up like SEGA, but with more money. I still think it’s funny watching lems defend xbox low console sales due to so called “MS new strategy “ but forget that they might not have a new console next gen .

sorry to break it to you, but 25 mill looks really bad when compared to 40mil that the ps5 sold. Especially when the xbsex released two days prior to the PS5.
I love wathcing lems like @blaznwiipspman1 live in a world of denial .
Imagine if Xbox released a pro version and devs still had to make games for the series S. I imagine if they do have a new console, it'll be the start of a new gen for them. There's no way they're gonna compete with a base PS5/PS5 Pro.
I mean that's been known for a while. Gamepass subs are MSs top priority. Being the top console seller would be a nice bonus for them but their goal is to be the Netflix of gaming with, ideally, Netflix numbers.
200 million people paying 20 bucks a month...4 billion a month in revenue....now that's sit up and take notice money even for a company as big as MS. That's what is on the line here.
There isn't much money in console hardware. In an of itself it does the profit no favours. Peripherals are far more profitable. The money is made on the software and, MS hope, more so the services. That's the dream for them.
The Xbox console is just not as high up on the priority list. As long as gamepass subs keep going in the right direction, the console sales are not a big deal.
Easier said than done though. It's a tough ol battle for MS. They keep missing sub targets.

xbox one sold 58 million over its life time, i'm expecting the xbox series to outsell the xbox one, possibly hit 70 million or even 80 million. PS5 has marketing hype but no real games. Xbox got the games, the subs, we got halo, we're going to take over. All we need is gamepass to grow, thats the most important thing.
Their strategy is to buy all major players, stop manufacturing consoles, GamePass on all devices that’s including Sony, Nintendo, Apple, Samsung etc. have complete control on Software you play. I mean really is this hard to understand.
This is a good idea Xbox want to give all game to every player free with Game Pass and protecting old game with compatible future Series - the future of the game market is best with this idea 👍👍
Rumor is PS5 pro is about 23 tflops. Xbots will be on suicide watch.
Why?
Because they gloated about a 2 tflop advantage ( that in most cases meant nothing) and now the most powerful Xbox console will be getting trounced.
It also appears they have no plans for a mid gen refresh to compete.

That's proving more and more to be the case. They can't sell more GP to a dawdling console population. So PC is where that growth needs to happen.
@kvallyx: what else is he going to say. Stop buying Xbox consoles? They'll be useless in 5 years?
Well, he prefers consoles, and loves consoles. So he told shareholders and gamers publicly that consoles are here to stay, they are the core of the Xbox brand and they already have next gen in development.
I know that hurts cows, but it is something they will have to deal with.

Going straight from 9 tflops to 23? I highly doubt it. Maybe in five years for PS6, but not for a PS5 pro. How much does a 23 tflops capable PC cost nowadays? A hell of a lot more than 500 USD, I imagine.
@shellcase86: Not just PCs. Stream to TVs (or even make deals to stick an xbox series S in the back of them if needed). Phones, tablets, other consoles (if they ever allow it), toasters, fridges. Anything that can potentially take in input and show an image game be a potential avenue to make Gamepass available and get people subscribed.
I mean the Activision deal isn't just about Call of duty. Activision also have quite a lot of activity on mobile. Putting all that under the gamepass umbrella can add a lot more value for people and tempt them to subscribe. Mobile gaming is Colossal and MS currently don't have much going on there. It's a potentially huge subscriber base. Imagine on mobile...subscribe to gamepass and you wont need to spend another cent on MTX for mobile game in some very popular games. Could be very tempting for many.

You think that Xbox fannies breaking point for being on suicide watch is Sony releasing a new console only after three years?🤔🤭
Sony's best selling game Xbox call of duty is going to look good on all them shiney Ps5 and ps5 pro's.
Every Sony device sold is a probable xbox customer 💵💵

It would be 4 years actually and the next gen consoles probably will not be out until 2028. So there will be a 3 to 4 year period where the most powerful Xbox will be 2x weaker than its competitor. Get ready for the meltdowns.

*10.28 to 23
AMD already released a 22 TFLOP RDNA3 GPU this year for $279.
A 23 TFLOP PS5 Pro in 2024 for like $500-600 doesn't seem outrageous.

You decided to double down. Great. So, you believe that Sony is going to release a mid-gen console next year and then release the PS6 3-4 years later and this brain dead move would cause meltdowns?😂
I think you need a bit more time marinating on what you are saying.
A lot of Sony fans have been saying MS are leaving the console business since 2016 or earlier. I'm tired of seeing this all the time. Why hasn't it happened?
Edit: Oh, and I'm very concerned :)
