Way to go, Bioware. Talk about handling the situation incompetently, and talk about being absolute d***s.

The source

This basically confirms that the leaked story- which read like a God awful fan fiction, by the way- is real.

*facepalm*

EDIT:

In case anyone wants to read the leaked spoilers, click here. BE WARNED, THERE ARE MAJOR SPOILERS CONTAINED HEREIN

EDIT 2: As it turns out, it was Microsoft that sent the C&D notice to NeoGAF. Talk about masking your own incompetence with MORE incompetence

In any case, I apologize for any harsh remakrs I may have directed towards Bioware because of this incident now. Consider all of those directed at Microsoft now.

EDIT 3:

To everyone hating on the game's story because it doesn't reflect ANY choices you made in the last two games, keep in mind that this is supposed to be the default story reflecting only one type of playthrough. That is, this is likely the story of the game if you don't import a save file from the previous games. The story of YOUR game is likely to be different based on what kind of save file you imported.

Seriously, STOP HATING.

Hahahahahahaha, wow is this for real? I know writers don't like their work being spoilt, but this is far from their usual reactions.

Best part is them trying to send a legal notice to a non profit non affiliated gaming forum which doesn't even have any kind of PR obligations to anyone like many game websites often do

Who cares? Game is meant to be played not read. So you can't read the story early... not a big deal. I'm sure people would have said the story was bad no matter how good/bad it was. I hadn o problem with ME2 story yet people say it's bad, hell on every game people say the story is bad.

They say that the informations is out of date yet don't want it to spoil the story for people?

That's not exactly what they say. Sounds like most of it is probably true but some things may have changed.

They have the script copyrighted. They're well within their rights to force ANYBODY to take the leaks off their website. What right do you have to read it? It's also not an infringement on free-speech. Not per the SCOTUS.

The bolded is pretty much how Bioware rolls these days.

It is a shame how much more competent studios like Radon Labs gets defunct while Bioware thrives. Radon Labs who made Drakensang and the sequel The River of Time, 2 games that play very similar to Baldur's Gate and Dragon Age: Origins.

Now I'm not a lawyer, but I don't think it works like that. They can't sue someone for copyright infringement for just posting the script. They're not stealing it and calling it their own. They're not using it to gain money nor are they changing it to suit their desires. The credit is being given to Bioware so they can't really do anything about it. Not to mention that removing it from 1 site will do nothing. Someone please correct me if I am wrong because like I said, I'm not a lawyer.

Perhaps you need to reread what I said. I never even mentioned anybody suing anybody. A cease and desist letter is not Bioware suing GAF.

What they did seems perfectly reasonable to me. They're protecting work and not letting people see it before it's finished. Look at what happened with Battlefield 3. DICE released an unfinished game for beta and people raised a big stink and started to cancel preorders. Bioware doesn't want the same thing to happen (getting judged on an unfinished work) and lose money, so they're trying to get it off the internet. I'm not saying they'll succeed, but it makes sense to me. It doesn't make them "d***s", they're just protecting their interests.

Don't read the script. It will make you not even want to play the game. It's that bad. NONE of the choices you made in ME1 or ME2 mattered. ME3 finds a convenient excuse to force you into the one single plot line they've come up with. And when I say that no choices I mattered, I literally mean that not a single choice you ever made in the entire series mattered. I'm not just talking about saving the Rachni, saving/destroying the collector base, or saving/destroying the Geth, but even things like choosing whether or not a crew member dies.

The reason why this is lame is how they approached it. C&D really now? They easily could of sent a message to admins about it and just ask, but not only that, it was a self contained spoilers thread anyway, meaning that only people who wanted to have the game spoiled for them would go into the thread.

Also, sending a C&D over this, they had to know it would cause a big deal when they could of easily handled it silently. Pretty stupid way of handling it honestly.

If that is true(I ain't reading no spoilers!), then Bioware is officially lost to us. I thought the Mass Effect series was all about Epic single-player and character choices that would either benefit you or haunt you throughout the entire series. Something tells that this was done so that it would be easier to integrate that mediocre multiplayer into this. Its not coming out till next year so wait before completely overreact but I will say that I'm very wary of this sequel :(

Bioware sucks, ME3 will suck, who cares what they have to say. Ignore them and don't purchase their mediocre and uncared for games. Hopefully they'll go down and a better studio that actually cares about their games will take place.

Those forums are PRIVATE, there is NO FREEDOM OF SPEECH. Can I call people here stupid, no, I get modded, where's my freedom of speech? Oh yea, I don't have any here. peterw007

Different websites have different rules. Gamespot may not have freedom of speech but NeoGAF may.

GameSpot doesn't have freedom of speech?

http://pastebin.com/KYJNWGug = Leaked story files

I wouldn't be able to post this if GameSpot prevented freedom of speech.

You can obviously post anything thing you want but The mods might see it then take it down, thus limiting your freedom of speech. NeoGAF has different rules and may not take something down that gamespot would.

The more I read about this game, the less I want to play it. Good going Bioware.Techn0holic89

Its not coming out till next year so wait before completely overreact but I will say that I'm very wary of this sequel :(
I just read the script, It's pretty apperent that you will at some point will met and help either Legion or Tali. How would that work if they both died in Mass effect 2? There seem half the game is based around meeting old characters, I don't see how that could be if most of them died in Mass effect 2.
Mods/Admin on Neogaf typically don't care about people posting stuff like spoilers long as it's tagged or if it's in a spoilers thread. In this case, all ME3 spoilers were in one thread and contained meaning that no one would really go into that thread unless they wanted the game spoiled for them.

Oh god, you can't read the ME3 storyline now! Guess you'll just have to wait until it's released, like the rest of us.

The things people on this board complain about baffles me.

charizard1605
Who's complaining about anything? a) Bioware acted like a bunch of d***s sending a C&D notice to an independent non profit non affiliated gaming forum Infringement of free speech, actually b) It's not as if removing the thread from NeoGAF will do anything, the story is out there on the internet, you could literally google it now and get a thousand hits.

Having said that, I totally googled it and couldn't find any actual spoilers, just mention of the leak.
