Are you happy with this gen so far?

I'm loving it so far. And still haven't even taken my SeriesX out the box yet

I am happy with PC, but that's not a generation change.

With consoles I feel like it has not yet started, that we haven't seen games that are a generation apart from the PS4 Xbox 1 era.

Oddly enough, it feels like cyberpunk 2077 is closest to that, but I came out so buggy and just now it's starting to become good.

If I was on console I'd be kind of disappointed. There's been some gems, but as you console folks tend to gravitate towards the AAA blockbusters, if that's what I was looking forward to I would be pretty upset. Just not a whole lot going on. And not really much to look forward to.

I'm on PC though and feel like there ae a lot of great games out there now.

Kind of nice being generation-less and essentially backwards compatible on everything.

First time in recent years that I've decided not to get this gen's consoles, so no, I'm disappointed.

PC--no complaints. PC is always good. If I was a console-only person I'd be pretty down about this gen.

@mrbojangles25: Although PCs don’t come in generations, you can still be impacted by console generations because every time a new console is released, developers can improve graphics without worrying if their games being held back by the weak older consoles.

My biggest problem with this generation is Sony. They double down on their third person template and give us the same type of game literally every year while tons of IPs are tabled. Jak and Daxter was a series I really enjoyed and seeing the Last of Us over and over and over again just kind of makes me sick to my stomach.

I'm also tired of Sony censoring games and raising the prices while expecting competition and people that are not competition to follow through on that as well. You can see where them as industry leaders is dangerous for creativity. You can see what hoops they will go through with EU regulators alone to not give Sony fanboys Killzone or Resistance. When they can't afford to copy an idea like game pass they will instead complain about it and try to ruin it for everyone else that is enjoying it or seeing success from it.

Jim Ryan is irredeemable. That whole visit to the EU regulators was foul play, and the silly letter idea they have for other devs would have been somewhat decent if JIM RYAN didn't know about it. That guy will go and barricade games or slip in more investment dollars to barricade games off XBOX. Meanwhile Microsoft is actually trying to do a legal deal that isn't behind closed doors.

I will not buy a PS5. I don't care what Jim Ryan does next to make it seem more elusive. I've seen that systems UI, I know its flaws and it doesn't have one thing on a current gen PC other than a few timed exclusives that will look better and play better on PC when they do arrive.

So yeah... Jim Ryan isn't good for XBOX fanboys, and he's not good for Sony fanboys either.

Nope. Because I play on PC.

PC is well, generation-less and I'm really happy its been my main gaming machine so no complaints on the current-gen consoles and despite of owning XSS, I only use it to just play a handful of older games I wouldn't find on PC so no regrets on it.

I'm debating on rather I should purchase PS5 just for Ragnarok or wait a year later to be ported to PC as Sony puts it that way to start releasing PS5 games on PC as I really love God of War PC port. We'll see.

Edit: As far as this current-gen games goes, I been happy so far as I'm able to play a handful of new games for this gen and every year is a good gaming year for me that is.

For me also, the thing about it I'd that i also play a lot of older games or not graphically demanding games.

So newer and better hardware doesn't really change my experience much.

The last graphically demanding game i played was control. And my 4 year old laptop runs it fine.

The rest have been crpg and jrpg and those usually run on a potato.

How am i supposed to be happy about the current gen when there's only Elden Ring (a third party game), Demon's Souls Remake (an old ass game from 50 years ago) and Returnal that i can safely say that i enjoyed. This gen has been a pile of shit, and when i hear Sony or any other devs announcing that for next year, instead of creating something new, they're remaking some old game i already own, it annoys the shit outta me. Its bad.

Liking this gen on Series X (includes 3rd party games that area also on PS5).

Liking last gen on PS5 (PS4 games) as I didn't play any last gen.

Variety of games has been good.

Overall, this gen could be better, but has it really started with games still being released on last gen platforms.

Still happy with my PC as always. Console gaming is a barren wasteland. Like, ridiculously bad. But I don't really care.

I'm very happy with Switch... could be my favourite gaming system of all time.

I mainly play on console and I feel happy about it so far. It's been like a PC upgrade, I get to play games with better settings/performance.

I don't care much about AAA blockbusters so while there hasn't been much graphically ground breaking stuff there's been plenty of great games.

Lol @ PC doesn’t have generations. So what do you call new GPUs? Or the fact that PC gets console games most of the time?

I usually call a new graphics card a new graphics card. Not a generation leap.

If I upgrade from a 1070 to a 3080, that will feel like a whole new machine to me, kinda like a new geneation I guess. But what about my other PC parts that don't? That's why I wouldn't call a PC I just upgraded a GPU for a "next-gen PC" or whatever you want to call it.

I think this gen has been good from a hardware and user experience perspective, but there hasn't really been many true next-gen games. This extended cross-gen period has thrown everything off. Also, the gap between consoles and PC was big at the start of the gen, but is now massive with the new GPUs from Nvidia and AMD. The refresh consoles will be needed soon to really enjoy the next-gen games.

With a SuperMighty XSX MonsterBox and Mega Bang for the Buck GP? ;o

games are ok few great ones so far.

but the ps5 and series s itself the consoles run really fast and smooth.

the ps4 was a crappy console with awesome games.

now we all have awesome well made consoles just waiting for the games to come.

I am, for sure. I waited a year plus before jumping on a PS5 and now I get to enjoy all the world class gaming experiences SONY has to offer.

The Good

• I like the hardware. I actually really like that both companies made it a point to improve performance on last gen games.
• Games- Elden Ring, Resident Evil Village, Forza Horizon 5, Demon's Souls Remake are the big standouts for me so far.
• I like Gamepass. I like that I had it for these first 2 years with the Series X and got to play a lot of different games. I plan to use it in the future again when there are a handful of games on the service I want to play.

The Bad

• I had high hopes for Halo Infinite and at launch they were mostly delivered. Very disappointed in the stinker it has become.
• Microsoft Studios having 0 significant releases in 2022
• Scalpers and supply issues
• Price increases

Must be joking, it hasn't even begun yet. We're mostly getting last gen games. It's embarrassing.

Playstation 4 is smashing it though.

Series X and PS5 are a joke. Bu bu bu teh next gen experiences. :-S

This gen hasnt been great it seems like it hasn't even started which is weird 2 years in.

Fantastic, but too many games and not enough time. I'm a big jealous of kids these days. But even kids don't have much time to play so many games since they're busting their rear ends in school. If it were my kid, I'd allow them to coast in every single course except math, science and gym, let them game all they wanted.

It's been pretty slow games wise. And it seems like it will stay that way for the rest of the year.

haven't felt motivated to get a next-gen console, and I probably wont, just wait for stuff to come to PC.

I'd say its been pretty underwhelming so far.
