I've seen so many posts in here complain that 3DS games don't look that good. I bought the 3DS two days ago with Dead or Alive and Zelda, and I can tell you guys that the graphic looks really good. The games might not look that good on your 20+ inch computer screen, but when they are showed in the 3ds screen, they look almost HD. I played Dead or Alive 4 on my 360 to death, but I'm still impressed with the 3DS version, graphically. So I don't get how 3DS get so many hate for the graphic.

People are just complaining about a select few games, and with stretched screens to boot. They're just using Nintendo as their punching bag.

Looks great to me, too. I quit doubting its graphic prowess once I got Dead or Alive: Dimensions. Very fun game too. I keep it in my 3DS all the time. I'll eventually get around to the other games.

i would like to add that DOA on the dreamcast was one of the best looking games (suprised?) if you compare the two versions you can clearly see that the dreamcast version has less jagged edges and thats about it. so if we go by that we can see why MGS on the 3DS looks as bad as it dose.

I'd venture a guess that most of the people that trash the 3DS for its graphics, either haven't used one or are blind fanboys.

3DS is an overpriced 2004 tech at best, and even still, PSP launch games looks better than 3DS games. Just compared ridge racer psp to 3ds. Other PSP launch games like wipeout completely decimate 3ds's ugly visuals.

DOA and rayman Dreamcast were far better versions and runs in full 60fps. Sorry, but the fact is that the 3DS, like the Wii, is a tech disgrace. Just to think an ipod touch cost less and does much more than games, and yet still can produce amazing graphics like epic citadel and rage. I'm going to bet that when WiiU is released the tech will be revealed to be far more underwhleming and won't be able to compete with ipod's graphics.

Umm, PSP in 2004: 333Mhz CPU, 111Mhz GPU, 32MB RAM, no internal storage, Wireless B 3DS: Dual Core CPU with no specific clock speed but the model number of the ARM inside leads to an ARM CPU with a 800Mhz-1Ghz clock speed, 128MB RAM, 200Mhz GPU, 2GB on board storage, Wireless B/G, 3 camera's, Tilt Controls And I've read that iOS games can only use what, like 20MB-40MB of the RAM? plus Ridge Racer PSP and 3D look terrible, both of them. Stop complaining that a company made a profitable product at the expense of bleeding edge tech that no one really wants in a handheld anyway (other than some gamers on gamespot)

You see but on the internet we don't have to tell the truth. Seriously Super Street Fighter, DOA and Resident Evil looks kinda meh in screen shots but in motion is a whole different story. Ryu in particular in DOA looks really good. But people on here are too busy talking about games and consoles they don't own, when they should just play the consoles they can appreciate.

Nope, they look like trash. I play Dead or Alive on my friend's 3DS and it was terrible. The amount of jags was insane, the effects looked really half-assed even compared to the Dreamcast version. Plus, the only real new "feature" for this version of the game, 3D, slowed the game down to something like 15 FPS, which is unacceptable.

The games look alright, they'll look even better as developers learn how to use the system and get the most out of it's hardware. The same can be said for any system so soon after it's launch.

Usually the Vita fans saying otherwise. It seems like they are screaming the hardest because they know the 3DS will be a better system in the end, with more sales to boot. Games just look good on the 3DS, not mind-blowing, just good. And that is good enough as long as the games are FUN.

3DS graphics are always going to be abused because PSV games look so much better. Also games like MGS 3D initally looked a lot better on announcement. Still they're definitely bearable and I can't wait to see what Pokemon will look like on it.

What do you mean almost HD? 540p?

Do you know what HD stands for and what 540p/720p etc etc means ?

I think this is damage control post and not a serious one. Almost HD... What does that mean you dont even know! You just talking generic to "promote" 3DS graphics.

As of 3DS i think is okish graphically for a handheld but far from awesome considering 2011 gaming era. But in the end is about games isnt?

Once they stop porting DS games the graphics will be more impressive. I don't think Mario Kart 7 or Super Mario Land 3D do that great of a job showing what the system can do though. If Nintendo doesn't push the hardware who will?

Surely with the 3D, the visuals are going to take a hit. Also, Nintendo handhelds have never been about graphics, so whoever was hyping it for it's graphical power should have known better. 3Ds graphics are average, and when you have limited hardware, you need to rely on other, more important (imo) aspects such as gameplay, art style, etc.. Wind Waker looks more appealing than a lot of current games because it had a very appealing style to it that has aged well.

Saying this, the PS Vita is going to have much better graphics, but will that translate into better games? Only time will tell. I was one of the few that though the PSP's library was better than DS so I'm extra interested in Ps Vita.

Technically impressive. But there is room for improvement of course. Even games like Resident Evil: The Mercenaries don't push the 3DS' hardware just yet. No launch game on any system every does. You get better looking games as you progress through a system's life span.

True, but for games that are still fairly early in their life span they still look fine.

Their mistakes were making it into a multi-media player and too high a price point.

After the 3DS price drop they only fixed one of those.

Meh, PSP ruined me for tiny screens. Can never go back to Gameboy and GBA, not really.

Nor can I really do DS/3DS.

All the same, Super Mario Land 3D does look interesting, but really I've felt for far too long that Nintendo essentially doesn't give much of a crap about us "core" gamers anymore as they've got their "blue ocean" strategy instead. It's not something I especially want to reward, no matter how good some of their games have been.

funny you say so after all those PS3 has no games threads some years back. It is a problem and if you say only haters say so you're blinded by fanboyism. Not saying the upcomming titles look bad or anything, but the fact remains that I haven't played a 3DS game for over a month :S

I have to say comparing a game that took the entire life span of the PSP to make and launch games on the 3DS is unfair. How about we compare Resident Evil Revelations to some PSP game from 2006? Both would be from the second year of their handheld lives, but that makes too much sense.

Why the hell are people arguing over the 3DS graphics at this stage? Look at the ***ing tech, it's capable of producing games with better graphics then the original PSP. The system just launched so calm the hell down. It's a handheld not a home console and looking at the tech you'll notice that while it's not "state of the art" it's decent for a handheld in this day and age. Give it some time, instead of taking crappy images and blowing them up, here are some images you can find with a generic google images search.

The handheld is capable of producing some pretty decent graphics for a handheld in this day and age.

i would like to add that DOA on the dreamcast was one of the best looking games (suprised?) if you compare the two versions you can clearly see that the dreamcast version has less jagged edges and thats about it. so if we go by that we can see why MGS on the 3DS looks as bad as it dose.

Here is where you are wrong, the graphics look better in person, not Internet videos.

Dude they have always been making games for core gamers

Nope, they look like trash. I play Dead or Alive on my friend's 3DS and it was terrible. The amount of jags was insane, the effects looked really half-assed even compared to the Dreamcast version. Plus, the only real new "feature" for this version of the game, 3D, slowed the game down to something like 15 FPS, which is unacceptable.

You don't have a 3ds. You can say all what you want regarding your experience but you have no proof of it. With 3d on, the frame rate goes down to 30, again, you don't know what you're talking about.
