Im just want to know what your reactions with the comics. Personaly I think that they are good. Though it's a reminder how sonic is slaped all over the media.

Oh, yes, there are comics. A few hundred of them. I enjoyed them for a while, but then they got all dramatic and sappy.

Archie, UK Sonic the Comic, and a few japanese ones.

As for my opinion I like the Archie comics.

On one side it's nice to how one can get a decent story out of the Sonic series. Perhaps if the Sonic Team had any brains, they would hire some of the comic writers to write a competent story for the series.

But as someone who only casually read the comics, they seemed a bit, weird to me. And in some issues, their art direction was a bit weird such as Sally and Amy's chests getting larger like they knew a large contingent of furries liked Sonic and wanted to cater to them more. And I do agree with Sonicphc in that it got a bit too serious for a comic based around a game about a fuzzy blue hedgehog.

Though those of you who aren't aware of the comics and are dying for more Sonic backstory the comics at least fill in things never mentioned by the games such as where the chaos emeralds came from, Sonic's parents and features long forgotten game characters like Mighty the Armadillo, Bean, Bark, Fang and Ray the Squirell.

I just don't read a lot of comics myself.

I feel a little uncomforable about the 30-years-later ones. Everyone grown up, had children of their own, and something different is going on. I really thought Sonic wasn't suppose to be revealed as an adult or have a family.

But, I still think there are hidden things that never even had been told in the past comics. I don't know.

I have some Mario comics.  I have these four compilation books as well as the large hardbound collection of stories but honestly they don't hold up well which is probably why you don't see much of them on the web.  In fairness the stories at least take place in the Mushroom Kingdom as opposed (insert Noun here)land like the Super Mario Bros. Super Show.  And when the koopalings were brought in for a couple stories and they looked like the game's koopalings as opposed to those horrid looking things in the SMB and SMW cartoons and Wart from SMB2 even showed up for a couple stories though Bowser had the green crocodile design he had in the cartoons as opposed to the game designed Bowser.

But honestly you're not missing much with Mario comics.  So many character images are copy/pasted from existing images and it gave us Stanely the Talking Fish, an annoying waste of space.  Also it had Peach's father, the Mushroom King which was interesting because then Peach wasn't just a princess because it sounded pretty even if her dad was a moron then again having her king dad be a moron probably explains why Bowser  kept trying to conquer the kingdom. Without Mario and Luigi it would've been a cakewalk.

I will say though there was a four party series titled Tatanga Invades Earth which was an interesting take.  This was based on the Gameboy's Super Mario Land where the  often forgotten villan of that game, Tatanga basically exploded out of a Gameboy owned by a creepy looking guy and they were the same size as their were on the GB but bent on conquering the world.  It was interesting and weird at the same time.  At one point they hijack a plane flying to Cube and demand to go to Disneyworld.

Sorry to get off topic.

I have only read the Archie Sonic comics, they were not that good when they started but they have improved over the years, the art is nice, the storywork is (if you dont take it seriously) well done, the dialogue can be hell at times though. To be honest, I mainly use it as a guide for my sketchwork and my own comics.

Probably not considering you can still buy comics from 12 years ago straight from Archie. They have forms in the comics that let you order sets of the comics and currently your still able to order the sets from 1998 and 1999. Considering how many copies of these comics must get printed I doubt they'll ever really be worth much. Except for like the really old ones.

The archie comics are great I have all from 136 to present and alot of the older ones before that. My favourite issue story is from 70 to 74 where Robotnik returns in the space satalite's but it really turns out to be Robo Robotnik and of course the endgame saga (issue 50) was a classic as well. Although I do do prefer the UK fleetway ones that ended nearly 10 years ago.

I really enjoy some of the comics. Others, not particularly. It's just like any shared universe comic. They range from atrocious to excellent based on the writer, or in some cases, the editor.

I never actually read the comic however. I'm just keeping mine in a safe place in fear of accidently ripping it if I took it out.
