Alright, so I have a 60 GB PS3, and surprising, it has not died yet. Everytime I use it, I always worry that it will just die at anytime. So, does the YLOD just happen while you are using it? Also, if it does die while a disc is stuck inside, how would I get it out? I just kind of worry everytime I use the PS3, and I always worry when puting a disc inside. Also, sometimes my PS3 get's kind of loud, is that a bad sign for the PS3?

Any advice is highly appreciated! :)

Im not a YLOD expert, but i've heard there ARE ways to get the disc out, and i think when the PS3 gets loud its just the fans turning up faster to keep the console cool, my 80 gb does it, then it eventually gets quieter.

I don't know about this, but maybe someone can answer my question.

I have a 250GB Slim, and I've heard the fatter models get the YLOD, but can Slims? Sometimes I leave my PS3 one, or play it hours on end, and I've afraid it will overheat, and since I always leave my games inside, they would get stuck.

I'm hoping they fixed the yellow light thing for the Slims. I've only had my PS3 for a year btw.

My 60 GB got the YLOD about 2 years ago. It did have a game stuck in it, and it did not occur while I was playing the game. I had turned the PS3 off and the YLOD appeared when I turned it on the next day. If you do send it in to Sony, they will mail back the disc that was stuck along with the fixed PS3.

YLOD isn't much of a problem anymore, you can open up your PS3 and fix it yourself or just turn it upside down, heat it up with a hair dryer and use it upside down. My PS3 that YLODed a few months ago is still used by a good friend I gave it to (got a new one for me xD)

Heat it with a hair dryer and then use it upside down?!?!? I don't think the PS3 was ever meant for that. But, if your PS3 works till now, you shouldnt be too worried abt it.

Well it does work and it actually makes sense. The problem is that the CPU and GPU are pülaced upside down (the chip is below the main board) and by heating your PS3, the soil gets a bit wet because the liquid that should remove the heat from the chips isn't put on them properly (yeah, YLOD is caused by bad manifacturing of Sony) and by ccolding the PS3 the soil gets hard again. If this happens a lot of times your CPU and/or GPU might lose the connection to the main board causing the YLOD (at least in most cases). By turning the PS3 up side down the CPU/GPU are now on the main board and by heating it with a hair dryer you wet the soil again and the CPU/GPU can make a connection again. If you keep it upside down you don't have to feat a YLOD again, at least afaik. You can also open up your PS3 and replace the liquid that takes away the heat, put some models (like mine) don't allow you to remove the coling unit without force which is why I stopped there. I know it sounds weird and I could explain it much better in german, but if you search for some information online you might find all this infos and I'm pretty sure a lot of other owners out there could fix their PS3 the way I did it ^^
