Should I get A PS3, I own a 360 AND A WII, I HAVE HD-DVD, but for some reason i want a ps3...

With this being a ps3 forum i was wondering if anyone has some great experiences with it, there are very few exclusives so I'm not dying for the games, nor am i really blown away with blu- ray. i just want to know about the other functions, hows the web browser, what do the ps2 games look like on it, how does the controller feel like, what demos are available, and whats the word on that home service? has anyone had hardware problems hows their customer service? what media functions does it have, can i stream my h.264 encoded media to it? these are the questions i want answered, and if you got 2 cents, id like to hear that too..

I'd say get one. But wait until there are at least 3 games you want to go with it. The controller is worse than the PS2 one IMO because it is too light and the L2 & R2 buttons are of a trigger type design and my fingers tend to slip off them. Hopefuly the rumble controller will adress this.

Very few exclusives? This year alone, we have Lair, Warhawk, Heavenly Sword, Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction, Socom: Confrontation, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Haze (Timed), The Modded Version of Unreal Tournament 3, and Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. For next year, we have Gran Turismo 5, Final Fantasy XIII, FF Versus 13, MGS 4, Killzone 2, Tekken 6 and much more. As for the internet browser, it works well if you have a stable connection, you can watch youtube videos on it, and download media directly from the internet. Ps2 games and regualr dvds can be upscaled to high def and for the most part they look pretty good. Also, on the 60gb ps3, 98% of all ps2 games are backward compatible so you're good for most titles. The controller is basically like the old controllers except it's wireless, and much lighter which i personally enjoy. Home is coming this october I believe so you can look forward to that. I have not and i would say that most ps3 owners have not had hardware problems, as it's a very reliable system and has a much lower failure rate than xbox 360. The customer service I've heard is very good. If you have a problem, they will pick up your ps3 the next day or something and replace it with a new one on the spot. For media functions, it can play video, music and pictures, as well as blu-ray movies. The main video format supported is mpeg4 for which there are tons of video converters for on the internet, but more file types should be supported with future updates. Overall it's a great console, but in all honesty if you're not interested in any of the games i listed above, or any of the other great exclusives that oyu may check out on your own, then really you're not going to do justice to the console and then you're going to complain about your lost money. Hope I could help with oyur questions.

Enough if you break down the exclusive list stop complaining becuase ps3 right now HAS BEEN PROVEN to have the most exclusives on its list. If you wanna complain about exclusives go to the wii forum becuase its lacking exclusives right now.

I would wait till September to get one. Thats when a ton of great looking games start coming.

September- Lair, Heavenly Sword, skate

October- Home, Ratchet & Clank, Guitar Hero III

November- Call of Duty 4, UT3, Assassins Creed, The Orange Box, Haze, Uncharted

That wave of software should easily hold you over till 2008 when Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, MGS4 and GTA IV are released. Plus, you should probably get one whilethe price is at $499 since they are going pretty fast now.

If you want to complete your collection - then go for it. If you want it in order to play games, then I guess that there isnt much of a point getting it.

Sony already said that there is NO plans for a rumble controller !

If you get a PS3 make sure you pick up the 60 gig because the others will not have the EE chip on their MB's.

I'm definitely interested resistance, ff12, and heavenly sword, as of games for the immediate future. of course mgs4 but all of that aside, I'm more concerned with the upconverison of my ps2 titles, does it really make a noticeable difference? has any one on here played in 1080i how does the ps3 handle it I remember there being some issues at first with certain resolutions, has that been fixed?

1. The web browser is okay because its pretty limited. But you can install Linux for free on your PS3 and get Mozilla Firefox.
2. The PS2 games look close to HD when upscaled. They also look a lot better when you turn on smoothing (especially with San Andreas and an SDTV).
3. Not many demos are availabel. Maybe 15.
4. I'm not sure about the Home service. All I know is that it is free and I am getting it.
5. Not many people have had any hardware problems. I personally haven't.
6. You can stream most media to your PS3 from your computer with WM11. You can also save media on it by using USB memory, CompactFlash, SD, xD, or Memory Stick.

I think it is a great machine. Web browser sucks mostly. Its very slow. I love the multimedia easy access it has. PS2 games look awesome because of upscaling. Controller feels nice but I want vibration in it. The demos are listed here. Home is set to launch in Fall. Probably in Sept or Oct. I have had no hardware problems and have not heard of any. I dont know what h.264 media is. I have heard they have good customer service. Slick interface.

You'll get a far larger movie selection w/ BD and it's studio support. You can use the PS3 as your primary HD movie player without fear of hardware meltdown. If you've been a PlayStation gamer in the past, you'll get to play your old favorite franchises and maybe discover some new favorites. It'll save some hours on your 360. Maybe not a lot now, but maybe a lot in the future. I only own one console and I only game for maybe an hour or two an evening. The PS3 is enough for me. That's quite a bit of extra cash to plunk down on top of the setup you already have. You may wait for a further price drop. It'll be more worth your investment.

Web Browser: Haven't used it. Haven't connect my PS3 online, actually.

PS2 Games: Look great if you have a recent firmware update. Haven't seen the upscaled PS2 games or DVDs yet, but otherwise they look as clear as on a PS2/DVD player.

Controller Feel: The controls are just as tight as any Dual Analog, from my experience. It feels a little insubstantial in your hand, without the rumble.

Home: I think Home is supposed to come out in September / October area.

Demos: Again, haven't been online w/ my PS3.

Hardware: I haven't had any problem with mine. Purchased in Feb / Mar '07. Maybe 1 or 2 freezes when I was playing Oblivion a lot during weekends. Never had a problem booting or reading a disk. Only problem has been in getting it connected online. I think that's more in my ISP side than the PS3. I haven't really put much effort into though. Haven't had to contact customer service, so I can't speak for that experience either.

Misc: Buying a PS3 convinced me to finally buy an HDTV. Blu-ray movies are awesome, espeically if you have Netflix, as you don't have to pay the high price for the movies that you probably wouldn't normally buy anyway. The gaming has been decent. I remember my PS2 (got a launch unit for x-mas that year) having a worse game drout than the PS3. I've never been an Xbox or PC gamer, so I had never played Oblivion. I hadn't gotten GOD II, so I had been playing that for a while. I've been playing RB6: Vegas and College Hoops 2K7 for the past week or two. Gamefly is good.

You might wait until the game titles and/or a further price drop comes before you get one though. Sounds like you've got all bases covered, for the time. In 6mos to a year you may see another $50-$100 price drop, popular Sony franchise games, and another 50 - 100 titles availble on blu-ray and hopefully a price drop on those.

Yes you should get a PS3. The 2007 lineup, although not as top heavy as the Xbox 360 lineup, is still VERY GOOD.

1. Heavenly Sword

2. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune

3. Unreal Tournament 3

4. Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction

5. Army of Two (lead SKU)

6. Haze (lead SKU)

7. Warhawk

8. Burnout Paradise (lead SKU)

9. Tekken: Dark Resurrection Online

10. Socom Confrontation

That seems like a pretty solid lineup to me. Moreover, the 2008 lineup simply OWNS anything that the 360 or Wii has...

1. Metal Gear Solid 4

2. Killzone 2

3. Grand Theft Auto 4 (we all know GTA is meant to be played on a PlayStation)

4. Infamous

5. Gran Turismo 5

6. Tekken 6

7. Devil May Cry 4

8. The Agency

9. Final Fantasy XIII (Hopefully?)

10. L.A. Noire
